    This one is so helpful! I used to do my self-tapes looking a bit too far to the sides, which is like the side profile you talked here. I'm gonna to implement it in my next audition, and thank you so much!!

    Great stuff as always Mr Academy! Must admit my eyes have probably gone a bit too far off camera before with tapes, and I should pay more attention to the direction my body is facing too. Many thanks, most helpful.

    Another great video and I appreciate all you do for us fellow actors. Now I tend to stand when doing self tape and feel more comfortable, but I notice alot sit down, like in your video. Do you have any advice in regards to sitting or standing? I totally get your positioning with A,B & C and that's great advice, especially slightly tilting the body. But I'd love comment on standing verses sitting. Thank Bro 👍

      Hey Jay, good question. Personally, I suggest actors do whatever they are most comfortable with. Ultimately we want the best performance to come out on screen. So for you, if standing statistically gives you better performances over sitting, I would stick with what you are doing. For someone else it might be the opposite and they will sit. For me, I’m used to doing both.
      Of course, if a scene absolutely requires you to stand or sit and there is no other way around it, than follow that. Otherwise, do what makes you comfortable.
      Hope this helps 👍🏼

    Question… If the script calls for running to another character, and hugging them, do I mime putting my arms around the air? Or do I just do the spoken lines?

    Really useful tips!!😍 I have a question: What would you recommend to do when you have to tape a car scene in which the character is driving and talking to a person alongside, like on the passenger seat? Always looking nearby the camera?
    And would you do the driving gestures or not?

    I need to ask a question....
    When we submit our resume and other stuff and finish auditioning,do the casting directors look at the acting more or do they give more importance to those who have attended acting school?,even if one applicant has better skills but didn't go to an acting school?

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  2 роки тому +5

      Typically, your drama school won’t matter all that much when it comes to film projects (unless you came from a VERY prominent program; then it may have a little barring) otherwise, what really matters is how you act in the room and if your resume shows that you’ve done and worked on other projects before. It shows proof that you are actually able to do and get the job done.
      For example, if you needed surgery and there were two doctors to choose from. If one doctor came from Harvard, but this would be his first surgery ever or there was someone else from a university not as recognized, but that doctor has performed this surgery 50+ times, most likely, you would choose the doc with experience and their schooling wouldn’t really matter to you. The proof that they have done the surgery before would have more validation for you. The same is for acting and being able to show that you’ve worked on projects before and you’ve been booked in the past

      @@dvine3488 I am rooting for you! Try to get your foot in the door now. MCU is becoming more and more diverse and the quantity of roles being offered now that D+ is a thing is skyrocketing. There's also an MCU project called "Echo" that's in the works so I would figure you could probably get plenty of chances there since the show would be looking for Native American-esque individuals, and your Asian Indian complexion can increase the likelihood of you getting in.

      @@dvine3488 Never heard of Indra except from Naruto and I didn't catch the Indian references in "Across the Spider Verse" that'll lay the groundwork for an Indian Spider-Man. Invincible sounds like an interesting figure, it's reminding me of that Netflix Indian show of that super-herp who looks super hot. I am going to look into those three characters.

    I have a question / problem if you could possibly help me
    I'm in community theater and right now we're doing the Jungle Book stage play( which note is a little different than the movie) and I'm playing share khan this is my first villain character I've had to play in my four years of doing community theater, I've given her more of a personality and a bit of a backstory in order to really feel this character and get into this character better but onstage I'm still really stiff I want to do more movement on stage but I just don't know what to do it's mainly just with my arms in my hands the most I do usually is just a little movements with my hands but that's just because I don't know what to do
    If you could maybe give me some advice on what you think I could do to make me not so stiff I would really really appreciate it
