  • Hey guys! In this episode we scrape off the top soil and push it to the side to save for after grading is done and the houses are in so that we have fertile soil to put back out and plant in. Otherwise, it's gets mixed in with the red clay and there's no top soil left.
Thanks to Frank and the guys at Boiling Springs Small Engine for the equipment rentals!

Hey looking at doing our 200m driveway in a few days, is it possible to doze like that excavator with a 4in1 skid steer bucket split open? That's all we are going to have

Sorry We have never used one of those type buckets. Seems like it would work. Just not sure how efficient it would be. Some times you might save by renting. You could burn a lot of fuel for little work done if its slow at getting the job done.

Good job guys. The next couple of inches still contain all the soil creatures needed to speed up the break-down of the brush piles; if spread on them. And by spring should have removed the piles fuel load from the forest floor. Bert

Thanks! Soil creatures are very important to us. We want to make this place as healthy as humanly possible through using natural sources only. The brush makes great soil in the long run.

How do you transport your equipment?

We rent them and they deliver then pick it up for us. One day we hope to get a trailer. Thanks for watching!
