Wavy hair is still apart of the curly hair family. I don't get why people get so mad over that lmao
cause people need to feel like theyre a part of a special, exclusive club
Why can’t we just have our own community.
Let's start our own family
Right! Nobody says to ppl w “coily” hair- your hairs not curly.. it’s coily.
🙄
Girrrl let me tell you... I watched your old wavy hair routine and I swear it’s been my wavy hair routine since! The R&B lush was my HOLY GRAIL. Sadly, I got diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymohoma and my beautiful wavy hair will soon be gone, but best believe when I grow it back I’m going to buy these products! ONLY PERSON ON YT that I trust with hair reviews/tips. ♥️
Praying for you, Ashley, to kick HL butt! And your hair to grow back healthier and stronger than ever before. So sorry you have to walk through this. God be with you every moment of it. Jesus is bigger than cancer🙏
Adancer112 thank you so much for your kind words! ♥️
Ashley Hernandez You got this!!
I hope that you are doing well! Stay strong❤️
I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through, hope you’re doing okay❤️
Can you please make a video or a hair series where you talk about keeping your hair natural throughout the week (how you sleep with it, revitalizing hair between wash days, how often you wash your hair, hairstyles when your hair is natural and hairstyles when your hair is super crazy and poofy)?
Girl you can scrunch out the crunch from products! I HATED mousse and gels but then I learned you can apply them let them dry completely then you gently scrunch out the cast they made and it’s defined AND soft! Dunno if that’s what you’re experiencing but it changed my curly life give it a go!!💓🥰
Thank you, Melissa! Wonderful tips, especially the upside down towel~will try that!! 🌺 Lisa
Yo can get rid of the crunchy texture you get with most curly hair products if you just scrunch AFTER IT HAS DRIED ALL THE WAY, I have curly hair and that’s what I do
I have natural curly hair and live in a hot and humid. To avoid frizz apply gel and scrunch it out with two drops of oil when it dries and it won't frizz in the humidity. SUMMER HACK!
So useful. My hair changed from being super curly to more of a wave after chemo, I've been struggling to style it now that it is a bob length!
Thanks Melissa 😘
It would look great as a curly bob..maybe use a bit of a curling wand like Melissa did>
Years and years ago I started to let my hair air dry. In the beginning I felt insecure leaving the house with wet or damp hair. What do ppl think of me? But I just can't care. Ppl think the weirdest shit all the time and my life is worth my time and my time I want to be as good as possible. So no heat on my routine for my hair and my hair is healthy and has grown out really long. Occasionally I do curl it but I find no need for anybody why you shouldn't embrace your all natural hair. 🙏
Omg same!! Really wish I had this video 15 years ago when middle school me was always straightening 😭
I would say that you probably have a fungal infection on your scalp. If the main build-up/itchiness is roughly where you put a ponytail then that's almost certainly what it is! I had one years ago when I was in college and didn't have time to dry my hair before class, so it was drying in a ponytail, or I was going to bed with wet hair. After much research, I put some apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil into a tiny spray bottle half filled with water and sprayed it all over my scalp. It itched SOOO badly while it worked! I did it for a few days and the problem totally cleared itself up. The best way to prevent it from happening again is to dry your hair after washing, or at least your scalp once your hair is 50% dry. The longer you leave your hair wet, the bigger the chance of it not clearing or even getting worse.
Thank you sooo much for sharing! Hearing your obstacles with your scalp, GIRL SAME. Finally I found someone with the same hair texture, length, hardships, etc.. lol can’t wait to try it!!!
First time in my life that I find someone with my scalp problem and hair texture. 🙌🏻❤️ BIG THANK YOU!!
Melissa, you have gorgeous wavy hair! I loved! Love the idea of that you can use your hair the way you want! It is definately freedom! You are beautiful!
It’s so helpful when you make videos about your hair ! I have the exact same natural hair texture as you and I never know what to do because it can get frizzy. I’ve never met anyone that has my hair even in my family. So it is very very helpful.
Your hair is so pretty, love the waves, embrace it 🙏❤
I have hair that air-dries almost exactly like yours and this helped so much! I totally know what you mean by the few strands that just make me feel so un-done. Great tips!
Love this! You hair is gorgeous 😍. Cant wait to try this out.
Btw, when I first saw you put the turbi twist on, I thought I was the one doing it backwards this whole time until you mentioned it later in the video lol
You got me addicted to R&B so long ago the first time you ever mentioned it and it’s been a staple in my vanity ever since!
YES!!! Adding leave-ins while your hair is sopping wet is the BEST!! Most effective for saturation and distribution!!!
Enough hair to rent it out 😂 I‘ve never seen anyone who’s hair is SO similar to mine! Nothing has ever worked for me until you showed how to master it (although I’m not as good at it as you are 😂)! Thank you for your amazing tips 💕
your EYES they're unbelievably stunning oh my
Girl, I am so glad you did this video. I have been wearing my hair natural for years because I work in the medical field and I just don't have time to be doing a whole ass updo in the morning. I have similar hair to yours with wave in it and I have never thought to do most of this stuff you're doing. I want to try the toothbrush on my edges and brushing in the shower thing. My biggest complaints have always been that my edges made me look undone and brushing while I was dry made my waves way less defined. I'm so excited, I bet it will look fire!
This video answers my previous question from your 2017 video. Lol! Love your channel!
You have totally inspired me to embrace my natural hair! I saw the video of 3 years ago (where you shared r&b + Shea butter) and I’ve been hooked! This video def will help me perfect the wild look! And like you I didn’t wake up at 5am but wore my hair in a bun all through hs cause I didn’t know what do with it! And was totally picked on, and a total nerd!!! I struggled as well, until I found the “straightener” and 1-2hrs of heat and work, to look half decent! Now 20 years later lol... never too late!! Give me all the waves 🙋🏻♀️💁🏻♀️🌊
You’re the closest to my hair texture I’ve found on UA-cam ❤️ loved this video
I have a dry scalp & the same wavy hair texture. Can’t wait to try these tips!
You are absolutely gorgeous! My hair is exactly like yours and I had completely given up on searching for hair tutorials on UA-cam when I stumbled upon your vids and I immediately subscribed! Love all your videos! Really! You seem like a really down to earth person. The kind of girl you want as your best friend 🥰
She has naturally gorgeous hair !!!!
I’m definitely going to try the Lush R&B hair moisturizer 😉 and techniques! Thank you 🙏🏼❤️✌🏽
I did the same in high school waking up at 5am to straighten my hair! Now i embrace my wavy 2B/3A hair and love it more! I also touch up with a wand sometimes
I used to be so insecure abt my hair when it air dried bc it would save weirdly near my face, making my layers look weird and framing my face wrongly. That made me use heat like blow drying which then damaged it. This video changed that though, my hair is so much more healthy now and it air dries beautifully. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Tried this last night - my hair looks great this morning!!
We have similar hair but I wear it shorter :). Because it’s so thick and curly, I’ve noticed that layered haircuts help with the curl massively. My hair curls three times more with a layered haircut that’s elegantly thinned out at the edges. And it looks good straight too :). I’m using the Aveda mousse for thin hair which is super light, non sticky and non drying AND it holds the curl great! I wash my hair with the Aveda Be Curly range - works well! Oh and the Dyson hairdryer makes all the difference!!!
I’m so glad I came across your channel! I have the same hair texture and I feel like it’s a especial type of hair that only people that have understand it
same. I feel like this is the 1st time I've found someone with hair that actually looks like mine.
Love this! Any tips for 2nd, 3rd day wavy curly post exercise hair?
Omg great video 🥰 I have ver similar hair to you and I’ve been plopping it in the turby twist like the curly girl method instead of twisting it which I feel helps the curls form more! Thank you 💜💜💜
How does it look on day 2 or 3? I find that mine gets straighter over they days
Mine does too! But I like to thinks its a look and I actually equally love my day 1 and day 2 even though they look very different :)
as someone who recently found out they have wavy hair, i always refresh and add a little product the next day. my waves always look better second day because of that!
elle me I watched Manes by Mel and she steams her 2nd/3rd day hair with a face steamer. Face steamers are everywhere and not too expensive.
@@reacher9856 great idea, have to try it
lol same i have really danaged hair cuz of heat so like it gets curly on my wash day and then pin straight the next day
After seeing your earlier video I bought the R and B and yes it is fabulous.
Thanks for this video Melissa! We are pretty much “hair twins,” so this was super helpful to see what you do, and decide if I want to switch things up. I love Playa’s new leave in conditioner and Rahua’s Amazon oil, but definitely want to give Lush’s hair products a try! Next video...touching up 2nd day wavy/curly hair??? Will forever be a struggle for me, especially when you sweat while working out! Frizzies everywhere!!! Have a great night!✌️ 😘
yep that second and third day is hard. I sleep in braids and I wake up with the frizziest bits on my head. I use water and leave in conditoner to calm down all the frizz from friction of sleeping.
Your natural hair is gorgeous! 😍😍😍😍
your hair is so beautiful! 😍
I have your same type of hair. I noticed that we just need to wash our hair daily (or every other day) to not have dry scalp... Don’t use dry shampoo, it will clog your pores causing more damage to you scalp... When we wash our hair it’s also like an exfoliation.
My daughter and I now do that, and our hair is healthier and no dry scalp, not ugly oily/greasy hair. Also, my husband loves that my hair always smells clean 😊😌..
Wao thank you so much this was so helpful!!! your hair is so beautiful!!
Can't wait to try these products.
Our hair textures are so alike so I'll definitely incorporate your tips/hacks! You're so gorgeous! 🥰
omg my hair is like hers too 🥹
thank you for this video!! i just recently found out my hair is wavy and theres soooo few wavy hair videos on here. thanks !!
Just in time when I want to embrace my curls also now waves after so much heat. I want to embrace them because of my daughter I feel like it’s my duty to let her love and embrace her curls 💖
We literally have the same hair except mine is so dry and damaged! Totally going to try this!
I also woke up ridiculously early in high school to straighten my hair everyday! (And it was NOT healthy between me bleaching it and not knowing what a heat protectant or deep conditioner was.)
I just stumbled on this video and it is so helpful! Thank you! What eyeshadow are you wearing?
Garnier hair food is an awesome hair mask and leave in hair conditioner it works well with my wavy hair and my sons curly 3a/3b hair. I also purchased lush r&b because of you and loved it for refreshing the hair and the lush custard hair styler work just as good.
We are hair twins for real! My hair is super thick and curly so I always straightened it since MIDDLE SCHOOL!!! I need to give my hair a break so I’m going to try your tips ✨❤️
You've probably heard this a lot but I really recommend trying out the curly girl method also called CG method. Not hard core where you only cowash, but modified CG by cutting out sulfates, silicones and drying alcohols for haircare and stylers, styling with soaking wet hair, squish to condish, plopping, scrunch out the crunch, etc.
Most (if not all) products you're using here are already modified CG, so for you it'll be more about learning techniques.
It really helped the health of my hair and scalp, but I mainly learned a lot of different styling techniques, and understanding how to use different products and understanding protein moisture balance.
I'd recommend watching Manes by Mel (she's not hard core CG) and Real Life Curly Girl here on UA-cam and also IG!
Very helpful, thank you Melissa. 2 questions: has condition of your hair changed since you've stopped using heat? Do you not use the shea butter anymore?
Brilliant idea to use the turbie twist backwards. I’m gonna try that.
OMG THANK U FOR THIS VIDEO. CANT WAIT TO WASH MY HAIR
OMG I usesd to do the same during high school thanks for sharing your tips !!!
I’m gonna start by saying you’re gorgeous. I had really straight hair throughout my childhood and as I grew older, it turned into a huge mess! Now in my late 20’s my hair is puffy, frizzy and part of it is straight and part of it waves and a few strands curl. I’ve noticed no one seems to have similar hair to mine. I have A LOT of hair, it’s super thick and low porosity (luckily it’s very easy to manage and if I blow dry without a brush or anything, it dries straight). It also takes 4-6 hours to air dry and when I do let it air dry, it dries wavy/straight with a lot of frizz and really puffy. Lately I’ve decided to leave the hair straightener alone and let my hair do its thing. I refuse to accept my hair is curlying since I ALWAYS wear it straight, but I don’t mind having nicely defined waves. I’ve just ordered the R&B hair moisturizer in hopes it will look decent and half as beautiful as yours
Hi meli!!! I was having the same situation with my scalp and if you can change your shampoo to Alba Botanica (at least it helps me to get rid of itchy scalp and some dandruff) I totally recommended also if you use conditioner do not use it in your scalp only from half to your ends you definitely will see the changes. Kisses
love your hair! also, can you do a video on your filming set up? I love the look of your videos!
I also have tooons of hair, it has the same curl pattern, and also suffer from a dry scalp😰 Thanks for the tips!
Thank you that was really helpful. What I struggle with is getting even results. I always have like 3A curls and some straight strands. I don't get it. Also the top of my hair is basically straight and my curls start at the mids. Idk what to do with my hair
Very helpful thank you!
Your waves look amazing and look so similar to my natural hair too!
I have the same problem! Any time my head gets damp or wet i need to dry my scalp ASAP or wash it or it will get soo itchy. I have thick curly hair my scalp is dry and itchy! And I have to use head and shoulders itchy scalp relief shampoo anything else doesn’t work 😩 I used to use the t gel and I did remember liking it a lot. I can’t play wit my hair a lot after the shower like you did cause it gets so frizzy the curls need to stay together . If you want those more defined curls don’t move it around after the shower let it air dry then when it’s completely dr shake it out!
Try a few drops of tea tree oil in your shampoo. It’s amazing for dry scalp or antibacterial.
thanks for the tutorial
We have the exact same hair type and Im always wondering what to do to make them look "nice" but also use less heat! This tutorial was genius because Im always disappointed by the lil bits of hair that arent curling properly! drives me NUTS! I NEVER thought I could curl a few strands here and there. It makes SUCH a huge difference! Also the products really seem to make a difference because my hair isnt as moisturized when air dried as Id like them to be if I just use shampoo and conditioner. omg and thanks for filming in the shower too as hard as that is! lol I dunno if its just me but it makes me see how much product to apply and where etc.?? LOL thank u so much!
Absolutely stunning 😍🥰
Hi! Have you tried the Aveda scalp treatment routine? It contains a brush that is designed to lift off grime from the scalp and then I follow it with the treatment products. I use the trio when my scalp acts up. The scalp is an ecosystem and when it is balanced the hair shines.
GIRL! You have to try the As I Am dry and itchy line. The oil is EVERYTHING!
You were the one who inspired me to get a lob haircut like three years ago. You looked so good in it! I’m finally getting tired of the length and am trying to grow it out. Washing and styling long hair is a pain, but with short hair you can only do so many updos.
Such a helpfull video thank you for sharing kisses from Greece!!!
love your hair!
I wish I had found your video a week ago before I chopped it off into a bob 😭 All because I didn’t know how to handle it and got sick of the long frizzy big mess. Will still try the LUSH products. Thank you!!
Ps- Ebin Edge Tamer in the mega hold (black) is great for the baby hairs/edges. I have used the extreme extra hold (purple tub) which is the strongest hold, too. Neither flake and I sometimes use em as brow gels!
So when you put the product in your hair in the shower, do you wash it out like you with with your shampoo and conditioner? Or are you just applying it in there and leaving it all in as you put the towel on?
Hi Melissa!!! Are you still using the Dyson to refresh your hair with this routine?? I can style my wavy hair perfectly... but then when I wake up the next morning it’s a mess and just feels so full of product without looking as nice. How can I refresh it without adding a ton more product? By the way, you and your hair are so gorgeous!
Sidney Sahary hi I think u should use some silk cup that could keep ur waves like curly girls do
Respect for it not being sponaored first before getting sponsored to let us know how it really performs. Murrays edge wax is great. You are so funny air b and b
Melissa! You should try the briogeo shampoo scalp rubbing brush! My scalp used to feel really itchy from dry shampoo use, but the brush helps remove the buildup!
I did the same for my hair after it airdries, touch it up with slightly heat from the curling iron. It really brings out my hair texture and all the natural wave, rather than a fizzy messy hairball look lol👌🏻
Your hair is gorgeous 😍
i can not find the curling iron you used 😞
Plz tell me which company's keratin treatment is best
Did you rinse out your conditioner? I assume you rinsed and then applied R & B right?
so you don't rinse after applying the lotion at the end?
I love rb too! Been repurchasing once a year
I have seborrheic dermatitis. I use my prescription derma smooth it seems to help. It’s an oil that I leave on overnight.
Hi! Love the hair tutorial but I was wondering what did you use for this make up look?
what a wavy haired GODDESSSSS!!! i cant wait for my channel to grow like yours melissa, been a fan for ages 🦋🦋🦋
I hate my natural hair texture but love yours! 😂
Check out manes by Mel. She has amazing tips for wavy/curly hair.
Her and her sister are just amazing! Her salon is like 15 minutes from my house have to go see her!
Jade 1923 what's her sisters channel name:)
@@someonerandom5634 They do the videos together on Mels channel. But her sisters instagram is this: instagram.com/amanda__guido/?hl=en On her instagram she has vidoes there.
Agreed! Everything I know about curly hair care, I learned from Mell. I bounce around to other channels to pick up tips and tricks from my hair twins. I've picked up a few from Melissa (and I love that I'm not the only one that doesn't plop or diffuse - both wreck my curl pattern), like her use of a toothbrush here.
I've got a gel I like; I embraced the crunch and scrunch it out after my hair is dry. But I'm considering seeing how my hair reacts to those R&B products.
I feel like chopping mine off still. But I'll give this routine a shot
Does this work if you live somewhere with A LOT of humidity?
I'm trying to embrace my similar texture. How often do you wash your hair? If I do a blowout, it can last 4-5 days but I don't know how my wavy hair could actually look good. Tips?
This was very helpful especially since I’m trying to limit any heat on my hair. Question, do you rinse all the conditioning products out or leave some in?
Do you rinse conditioner out before the other products?
Innate life scalp treatment is great for your scalp. They have one for dry scalp too. I leave mine on over night and use a gentle clarifying shampoo the next day and shampoo twice to get the excess oils out. My hair and scalp have never been so healthy.
I used to use my curling wand to "define" my wavy hair days but I switched to a waver. You can use a 3 barrel waver/wand but I prefer the Bed Head Wave Artist--I just find the waves are more defined and I can control them by how long I clamp them. Both do the trick tho and they blend better than a curling wand w/'u waves (ps I have the same thick dry coarse hair type and wave type as you)
