Wow, you are so wise and mature! Looking at you and how young and hip you look, I would’ve never expected this level of seriousness, it’s so nice to see!
Been down this road with a mom of 3 boys. Youre demanded to treat them as your own until she cheats on you, and takes the kids away from you. Then after 7 years theyre HER kids, not yours....
These type of videos make me curious about what the age demographic is of the viewers. I enjoy the content, it’s nice to see healthy family relationships from those my age.
The maturity and the patience has to be there when dating someone who has a child who’s other parent is still heavily involved . Without prayer I wouldn’t have made it this far. Like you really have to have patience but not loose yourself and stay true to your morals. The child is preprogrammed and it can be difficult like you said disciplining the child through your partner works best so that everyone understands the unity. I didn’t know what to expect especially me being only 10 years older than the child and not having kids of my own however, I think right now I’m trying to position myself into that authority role. I might have went about it the wrong way in the beginning with trying to be the “friend”. I also could say maybe the way we were introduced might have been wrong. “This is blank they are my friend” which looking back we probably shouldn’t have taken that approach. It’s a struggle sometimes but I am grateful for the child and I’m still learning to be grateful for the child’s other parents involvement. Any advice Gunther? Great video btw ✌🏾have a great day.
Loved this conversation. I just got into a relationship and my gf has a 4 year old son. I see so many videos and even my father, saying you should never be a father of another man’s seed. But, my gf and her son makes that hard to believe. My gf (treats/believes in)me better than anyone has done in my life. Her son makes the relationship easy, because he’s not a bad kid. He has manners and respect. His father is in his life. So, that makes things easy as well. I fear failing them at times, but this video gave me some hope and positivity. I’m new to this channel and I pray you guys have nothing but the best and blessings. Continue your growth as people, as a family, and helping others.. like myself and my family to be. Thank you.
@@shadowwhisperer5480 I lost my mother and my ex wasn’t supportive at all. 2 days later after my mother passed in my arms, my ex got upset with me because I was playing with her son at the park. She didn’t want her son on a tire swing, but the son did. I pushed him on the tire swing. That created a argument. Saying “Don’t question her parenting” and she told me to leave her place. I never went back. Miss the kid sometimes though.
Wording it as real dad vs step dad is emotionally delicate. You’re a father, and they’re all your children. I grew up in divorce, and my stepmom didn’t embrace us the same way my stepdad did. Language means everything to kids.
This was a really great conversation! Thank you guys for putting it out there. To be honest, I'd previously had said dating someone who already had kids was a deal breaker for me, I was more excited about adopting with my spouse since we'd both be starting from the same place with the kid, the relationships wouldn't be skewed one way or the other, but you've really encouraged me that it can still be worth it if you count the cost. I was just curious, if you had to boil fatherhood down to one or two things, what would they be? I got "correction" a lot from this video, so might it be the father is the one who corrects? I'd liked the idea that what being a father boils down to is an encourager. But that also means "encouraging" kids past their own short sided way of looking at things at times. And I'd be interested in hear more, perhaps from Kandase's perspective about the things she had to also adjust for along with Kellen... was it things like bedtimes for Kellen? Having that consistency is hard, to set and follow through with bedtimes, it's no joke. In the mean time, between time, Tesla Model X full review?? Haha. I believe you've had the car for a minute. Worth it at the end of the day? I love Tesla, so I'm hoping you say yes. You guys said one of the primary reasons for getting the car was the falcon style doors would make it easier for Kandase, has that been the case? Charging experience? Maintenance costs? Love the content guys!
Step dad are real dads we are the dad that step up, im in the same situation you are in but the easiest part is when the mother supports you and teaches her kid and your kid to love you as the are the only father 💯
Ain’t even close good luck down the road. That’s HER baby not yours and when you find your”strength” aka blls your gonna find out you lost the best years of your life that you could have had with a non baby momma.
How was the transition for you to going from having no kids to having your girlfriend and a child move in/start living together? Was it a hard adjustment for you? And was it hard for the child? How long was the adjustment
Because it’s a thankless job. You take all the responsibility with no legal support should shit hit the fan, you’ll always be priority number two- both to spouse and to the child (bio dad still exists), and you can never discipline the child without being reminded that you are not the child’s parent. It’s like being a volunteer doctor- you’re doing a good thing, but nobody really gives a shit about you.
@@Yourenotsmart1999 I’m glad you were able to respond to 1/3 of those points, and I don’t disagree that kids should come first- BUT. With step parenting? She will always choose the kid before the relationship. Where as with biological parents it’s usually not an ultimatum, step parenting it typically is.
@@JAWS_2K Oh and that’s the way it should be. When I divorce, I will just have casual bf’s or stay single. I disliked my stepdad bcz my mom chose their relationship over her kids and I will never do the same. Men are not worth it
Played that role. Was in a relationship with a single mom for 4 years. She ended up cheating. By that time I was attached to her son and he liked me too. Unfortunately will never see him again, unless he reaches out when he's older. So being a step dad is all risk and no gain. Luckily didn't get married, and I fiercely encourage every man to never commit to a single mom. Just bust them down and RUN FOREST, RUN!

Never date a single mother. Don't try to be her knight in shining armor either. It's not worth it at all. Find a woman without children.
Ditto.
Real talk 💯. If anything, those women are recreational use only
You only live once, choose your struggle wisely. But something I will never do is to be a step DAD. Never
