Elektra Demos 1969. Band: Les Braunstein - Vocals Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser - Lead Guitar Allen Lanier - Keyboards Andrew Winters - Bass Albert Bouchard - Drums
Great from this to "Curse of the hidden mirror". Incredible. And they didn't record more albums cause of Mirror poor sales, not because not wanting to.

Love the lyrics and the sound ! Buck's guitar skills were already there ! But let's be honest, it's a damn good thing Les Braunstein left and Eric Bloom came. Otherwise they fade into obscurity 😭
This might sound like a weird question, but does anyone know if there are any writing credits for these Soft White Underbelly songs? Like, who wrote the lyrics and instrumentals?
1. Rationale Passionale (L. Braunstein) 2. Fantassy Morass* (R. Meltzer, A. Lanier) 3. Mothra (S. Pearlman, A. Lanier, A. Bouchard) 4. Jay Jay (L. Braunstein) 5. Queen's Boulevard** (S. Pearlman, A. Lanier, A. Bouchard) 6. Buddha's Knee (S. Pearlman, A. Bouchard, D. Roeser) 7. Bark In The Sun (R. Meltzer, A. Bouchard)
@@GiovaniGuizi There was no music actually "written" for this song. We just played whatever came into our heads. We were a loose band and had a great capacity for improvisation.
Just when I thought I knew it all about BOC I found this, always something around the next corner with them.....
Wow. Amazing recording. Braunstein sounds pretty damn good and I love the lyrics - very '68-ish.
This is great! It should be released so we can hear it properly...
this is interesting, considering BOC's later work. Seems they were good from the beginning.
Thank you...

Thanks for this. Nice to Allen getting a good deal of the limelight
Reminds me of "Dove in Hawk's Clothing" by Ultimate Spinach.

Just came upon this! Wow Thank you!!!!!!!!
This sounds a lot like the doors, isn't it?
The voice and the rhodes keyboard.
@Jack Wehrung huh?
Except for this is way before the doors
So you should say the door sound like them
@@waynedotson507 soft white underbelly formed in 1967… so… NOT before the Doors. OP is correct, they are CLEARLY imitating the Doors on this tune

It's on BOCFAQ, easily found on Google.
Actually - a couple of the credits in the BOCFAQ are incorrect:

It's like Paul Stookey fronting Jefferson Airplane.
lol, these lyrics..

There's a reason for that :-)

BTW: So far as I know, the chorus goes:
"Just be more rational, more lovish passional, it's the new fashional thing"
You know why. It's because we know who they are. San Francisco Baby. Do you know, the Rat's Keller below the Steak House? Blake's?
