See you all back here for Part II on November 17
You are wrong on a lot of FACTS. First off the Honey Bee sucks at this job and Blue Orchard Bees are way more affective. Honey Bees ARE NOT NATIVE to North America Blue Orchard Bees are. In February, when California's almond trees are in bloom, BOBs will venture out to collect pollen in days that barely reach the 50 degree mark, while honeybees are more apt to avoid such temperatures. Because honeybees attach pollen to their back legs, they tend to spread less of it than BOBs, which collect it on their furry bodies. It only takes 400 female BOBs to replace the pollination efforts of 15,000 honeybees.
You still got a lot of learning to go. Also 9 out of 10 bees do not go to CA to pollenate these trees, you would have to be insane to even think such a thing.....come on and actually use your brain for 1 second.

Great episode & love your content! I planted two almond trees, one last year and one this year. I only got about 20 almonds this season but wow was it exciting! And the taste is phenomenal.
Such a special experience eating fresh almonds. How cool you get to do that in your own backyard!
After a long time, my favourite episodes ❤❤❤
Can't wait😊
Hi Nicola. As usual very interesting. Let me tell you something. I grew up in a town in Iran mown for it’s almond and lived in a house with a acre of land growing almond. There was not single honey bee or honey producing industries in and around our town but the almond was growing year after the year in tune
You must have had a wonderful population of native pollinators doing the work (and maybe a good breeze?)! Sounds divine!
Great to see you here, Feriedoun - and thank you for your support over the years!
Glad you guys are back! I appreciate the investment you put into this series, as it does seem rather resource-intensive. The content is so educational and visually appealingly!
thank you so much!!!
Look like plum blossom❤
FANTASTIC!! How I've so missed these. Almonds, bees, and, the star of the show! Nicole!! Yay!! I rewound so much. This without a doubt my favorite series on UA-cam. And I've put my money where my mouth is. That's a two year banner. How a five year banner??! Because I'll get it!!

So in-depth we need two parts! ;)
I missed this segment 😊
Hay Nicole, Your videos always great and teaching me about just what are "we" eating.
California is a leach zone.
Can't our solitary bees get a job in California, They are Americans.
I'm in Ohio and I'll add burlap for the bees in my water container as I have found bees in my water yet didn't know that burlap trick ,That alone should be your next "short " video.
Thanks

Hi Nicole,
This is so interesting the bees are so important to the food chain.
Hi Michael, indeed they are! Thanks for watching. Hope you're well!

welcome back!!!!!!!! I am so excitedddddddddddddddddd
Yay!!!!
I'm so happy when the series is back. ❤
80% of the whole world's almonds grown in such a relatively small area is wild! It's even more impressive considering how abundant almonds seem to be!
Yes! In the next episode we talk about why the Central Valley is a place where almonds thrive -- what conditions that crop needs.
@@TrueFoodTV Awesome! I'm really looking forward to your next episode! 🙂
A good documentary on this is
The pollinators
They go into the almond industry and bees and aren’t sponsored by the almond industry
You back!!!!!!!!!!!
🤔 I looked up Blue Diamond Growers who are an “agricultural cooperative and marketing organization that specializes in California almonds.”
Edit At 7:36 it was mentioned as well
Would be great if u can make one episode on honey bee keeping...
Oh, believe me, honey is on the list.
You guys have probably thought of this, but you can get a ton more content from using bits from your longform videos in shorts! A lot of people watch them now, and it’s a good way to advertise both the full video and your channel.
1:22 No, animal agriculture is sucking the world dry. I hope to see this in the next episode !
Ohhhhh, there might be something about this. 😉
🐂💩
@@TrueFoodTV🙌
Exactly ❤ true😊
If you buy organic almond products, you directly decide how the farmers treat the trees and surrounding nature.
what the negative connection between honey bees and almonds?why almods killing bees?
You have not mentioned that promoting Apis mellifera let no more place to other bees species who are declining.
Loss of plant diversity and habitat are the biggest causes of decline to native bee species. The apis mellifera isn't out foraging in our gardens and forests -- they're working the farms. It's not a competition issue. The biggest thing we all can do to help our native bees (and other pollinators) is to grow less lawn (a useless crop) and more native plants.
@@TrueFoodTV I was maybe too affirmative but there may be an impact on some bees species.
"Variation of Small and Large Wild Bee Communities Under Honeybee Pressure in Highly Diverse Natural Habitats" (Demeter et al. 2021)
(I'm aware of the impact of mowing and lawn so I do not mow and try to create a riche variety of plants with an edible forest. With plants (even fruits trees) from seeds.)
A very wonderful channel, but please add translation into Arabic
That Blue Diamond “had no editorial input” doesn’t mean much to those of us who remember how you took down your scathing review of the ROFCO bread oven no doubt because the sponsor of the video complained. So I don’t have to watch your almond series to know it won’t exist if almond growing comes out looking bad for almond growers. You guys don’t exist without your sponsors. So your videos must always be evaluated with that in mind.
🐝🐝🐝🩷❤️🧡
usually have history of the food, where its come from etc.
There were so many pressing issues to tackle with almonds, we wanted to focus more on the current realities. But don't worry, they'll be more history again in the future 🙌
🙌❤🐝👍
The ML seems irritating.. he assumed MC hitting on him.. such confidence... Looking forward how he will get face slap by love 😂
Great story! So, why is the population of native pollinators so small? Maybe because we are destroying all of the habitat where they would live and reproduce. That's a whole other story.
A whole other story...
Does the AlterNicole character have a name?
I think we voted on here once. Anyone remember? Was it Nikita?
Great for the bees. Great for the growers. Great for the Chinese, who import ~80% of California's almond crop. Not so great for California's water supply. The almond crops uses ~10% of the state's water. About the same as all of the state's cities, combined.
Stand by for Part II when we talk all about water!
So I don't hafta feel completely terrible about putting almond milk in my coffee???? 🥺 ....yet...
No, you don't! In fact wait until part II -- even more eye-opening stuff in that one.
4:01 "accidental symbiotic miracle"
The probabilities of that process being an "accident" are 100% impossible.
The probability of alphabet letters accidentally/randomly assembled into working code to create this webpage is 100% impossible, likewise, the probability of DNA code accidentally/randomly forming a bee is 100% impossible.
Therefore, since the underlying code of a creature/creation cannot be accidental, then the symbiotic processes that sustain those creatures cannot be an "accident".
HOW ARE THERE LESS THAN A THOUSAND VIEWS? SO BROKEN ALGORITHM
UA-cam is a rough landscape these days!
Hi 4rm my side who is watching now?
OMG, her pronunciation of “amund” is driving me nuts:). Is she intentionally doing that or have I been pronouncing it wrong all this time as ‘al-mund’. Not trying to throw shade, honestly curious about this
Accents are so fun. All the almond farmers I met in CA call them AM-unds.
Ok so I liked it up, you must be British? Need to convert to a full blooded American and use our pronunciation of almond with an L😉
The exploitation of bees still isn't vegan.
Do the bees get killed in the process as that British dude who's anti vegan brings up Everytime he sees or hears vegan?
9 out of 10 "honeybees", not "bees". There are something like 5,000 native species of bees and honeybees are not native.
We are aware. But there is context leading up to this line. We know our audience is smart enough to understand this. ;)
No worries. I love you and your videos!@@TrueFoodTV
How about we stop irradiating the almonds? I don't buy US almonds for this reason.
You should watch the Mythbusters episode where they irradiate various insects in a power particle accelerator. There isn't any residual radiation or harmful biproducts. The crew were able to enter the radiation chamber and touch their samples immediately after they were exposed to enough radiation to kill a human almost instantly.
@@K-Fed
But what quality nutrition wise is left in the food? I also don't use a microwave.
@@cominginthecloudsforus The nutrition is only decreased by a negligible amount. You will lose much more nutritional quality by cooking, freezing, canning, or preserving via other methods. And you may actually retain more nutrients by microwaving food than boiling/steaming since nothing water-soluble will dissolve into the cooking liquids and be discarded.
diverse = 2? LOL.
That "mustard" mix was actually a variety of mustard family crops ;)
Not sure if almonds are killing bees - some how I doubt it. The almond industry needs Govt. support as a critical Milk and food source. If you are in the industry you know all of the risks involved and the we get folks with water and environmental concerns that saying this or that is not right - one at a time please. And now we are killing bees - that is rich. I wonder if these folks know where their food comes from.
It's true. Almonds are the deadliest crop for European honey bees. Pick up a bee industry magazine and you'll see.
i always wonder the WHY behind the latest food that is being bashed. We humans have lived on this earth for how long with all these foods, animals, plants, etc and all of a sudden UA-camRS are telling us don't grow, consume, produce... Makes you wonder who is really paying all these people
@@quail4sale334 I spoke with lots of beekeepers who bring their bees to pollinate the almond orchards. You're wrong. The almond industry has invested millions on improving their practices to promote bee health. If only other crop communities would do the same.
Nice vid and looking fine as usual.
Thank you kindly
