Considering all other performances were the same for the Olympics. However Arakawa wouldn't have known prior to her own performance how Slutskaya was going to perform because Slutskaya was the last to skate for the evening. Arakawa skated somewhat conservative and cleanly as a result of seeing how Sasha Cohen went in her performance.
It was too bad that Irina lost to Shizuka, in the Olympic 2006. Clearly, she was a very good contender and a great skater, too. But I don't understand on how she would mess up her program after Sasha skated. Or was it before Sasha skated?
