Hey weirdos! Hope this explains some stuff. Of course, the #1 reason which I neglected to actually mention in the voice over is ALLERGIES. I don’t want a product allergy bc then I can’t do this anymore!
Also, apparently I forgot to mute the end of the video footage so enjoy my crazy teens in the background 😂

Marla you taught me everything I know about press-ons and even though I have all the supplies to work my natural nail I so much prefer the press-ons. I like the freedom of making the nails one day and applying them on another. I also get really bored so changing them out is easier. I reuse my press-ons and am continually building my library of press-ons. I love that if they happen to pop off I can quickly repair/reapply. Removing is so much quicker and easier on my own nails. So I'm hooked, thank you for your videos and inspiration.

I am right there with you sister! My natural nails are far from strong. Although lately, they’ve been much better. I started designing press ons out of desperation because the other methods seemed to be really hard on my nails. But then, I discovered my love for decorating press ons and now, I’m addicted! So, for me, it’s been a win/win. I am able to continue working on improving my natural nail health and get out my creative/artistic urges as well. I don’t need my press ons to stay on for more than a few days so I am lucky in that as well.
I appreciate your honesty…always have! Thank You for sharing! 😊 ❤️✌️

I have been thinking about following your steps and start doing my own press on nails, my natural nails are very thin and weak because of all the dipping and gels.

Hi! My name is nickie and I'm new here! This is my first vid of your's. I was looking up dnd gel polish vids because i love dnd gel polish and feel like not whole lot of new dnd vids out there! Anyways this vid popped up and of course i clicked it and have to say i subbed because loved this vid and nail art and everything else in between! I just love nails and everything about them! You're right things change and folks change and all kinds of things change and we adapt and figure out new things we like and love and the things we don't really love or wanna do anymore and i have to say. I don't blame you for not wanting to damage your natural nails! Who does want to damage their natural nails! No one really or at least i don't think so anyways! We also get new subscribers and all those good things! Anyways I must say i do enjoy your vids and i do enjoy watching your nail art an anything else you did in thia vid and anything you do in other vids and i know ill be binging your vids now because i also enjoy anything and everything I'm able to learn as well! I have been doing the press on method for several years now. I started doing my nails a year or so before the pandemic. I am a DIYer and learned from watching UA-cam. I learned a lot from watching you. I was working on my natural nails and changing my nails a lot. My nails became thin and just not right. I really enjoyed doing nail designs so I started doing them as press ons and they turned out great. I am not a content creator but still changed my nails all the time and press ons are the way to go. I do put a layer of regular base coat on my nails before I put the sticky tabs on for a layer of protection. I am glad I am not alone in using press ons. Keep up the great content.

I started press ons around the same time you did; in part due to one of your first videos about them. I use the tabs and can get a solid week plus out of them (more if you dont count replacing one or two).
I'm also a mom, and while mine are all under 11 (with another due next month). Time crunch is real. I like that I'm not on a "oh sh1t, it's lifting" schedule. If one starts to life, I can just put it on again and do my next set on my time.

My longest lasting nails, that I still have on right now, are acrylic overlay on my natural nails, without any kind of base coat. The good thing is it’s lasting very long, but I’m a bit afraid the real nails underneath will be extra damaged when I remove the overlay.

These are adorable!! I completely understand doing press ons especially when you have to do at least 2 manis a week. Yikes! I do my nails once every couple weeks, sometimes longer, so dip works for me. I can afford to take my time removing (not picking it off! Im bad) which has made a huge difference. I can see my healthy natural nails coming back from being cruel to my nails during removal. Theyre almost halfway there!! Teehe
Now, on to the gel polish youre using. I bought a gelish white and it is so runny!! It wont hold a shape. Are they all like that? Or do you recommend other brands that tend to do better for art? Love your videos!

I go have acrylics put on my nails at the salon. I found that acrylic with monomer is the only thing that stays on my nails for 3-4 weeks without lifting, peeling, or cracking. I just bring my own gel polish if I want something special like glow in the dark or temp or sun changers that the salon normally doesn't have. ;) and its easier for me to have someone else do them for me. So I get what you are talking about. I have tried press ons but they don't last but if you are doing them 2-4 times a week press ons are a great option :)

maybe this is the way to go for me. Just like you any imperfection will get me picking and I ruin my nails quickly by picking of nail polish. No matter what I do dip powder chips and I think that is because my nails are too bendy and the free edge starts to pop off. I also want to avoid UV exposure from the nail lamp. This is the perfect option. The fake nails can go in the lamp, plus no mess on my fingers from product going where it shouldn't.

You make a great argument for press-ons. I've always been lucky enough to have long, strong natural nails, and I've never wanted to use press-ons because when I first started doing my nails regularly, around age 11, that was also when Lee Press-On Nails came out (the first of their kind, I think), and people always asked me if mine were Lee Press-Ons, and I hated it. 😆Silly, I know, but there it is. But it might be a good option for when I need to give my nails a break!

I understand all your reasons which is why I like to stick with good ole nail polish. I’ve always had long healthy nails until I started using gel etc. They’ve finally grown out healthy again, in fact, I just cut my nails, because I broke one. I have tried different nail glue tabs, and they just do work for me. But this is what I do I cut the tab to fit in the center of the fake nail. Then I take ( crazy glue ), and make a make a thin line by the nail cuticle. Then I make 2 dots on each sides of the nail. Then I make another thin line at the tip of the nail. Then I start by the cuticle and press the nail on. This way I know my nail will stay on.😊

I LOVE my press-ons!! For ALL the reasons you mentioned! Plus some... Like gel sensitivity. I have not developed one, but I don't want to either, so that's another benefit.
I wish I loved just the tabs as much as you do. Any tab, even the BTArtBox brand, will stretch a little if I push straight in on the nail tip, and that just drives me batty. I like using a smaller tab so that the edges sit flush on my natural nail and I use a very small amount of glue around the edges. That gives me the strength I want but they are still relative easy to get off. My preference is actually just glue, but removal is a huge problem. My nail beds are dry, thin, and flexible, and they won't let go of a good glue. I have done some damage with all of my experimenting. I have had some luck with peel off base under glue, though I love the combination of tabs with a little glue.
Speed is another huge factor. I never got as fast as you, and I got really tired of 4+ hour manis that I wasn't happy with anyway. And I'm a picker. Not the skin around the nail, but the nail itself. Any imperfection will drive my crazy and I'll pick at it.
As far as cats go, I keep my stands inside my lamp and throw my work surface towel over the top. That keeps the cats away from them.
Anyway, I'm rambling. 😅 I love your press-on content. And this mani is awesome. 💛

I have oodles of cuticle oil pens (you can buy empty ones and fill them with your fave oils) so I’m never without it. Car, purse, nightstand etc.
Please report back when you’re healed!! 🫶🏻

I have a love hate relationship with artificial nails because of the damage.

I stopped using dip because it was hard on my nails and it was a pain in the ass, it took forever to do dip on my natural nails. So I now do regular polish on my nails and I make press-on nails as well 😊

So much yes! Question for ya.. I’ve been contemplating polish on my nails BUT I’m scared of staining my nails. Anything you do to help prevent that?

@MarlaKris your nails will stain regardless if you use a base coat or not. Mine are yellow from years of painting them. Sometimes I will use lemon juice and baking soda on my nails if a polish has stained them badly. I make a paste and then lightly scrub my nails with a toothbrush. It helps but not 100%
