- Big thanks to all the people that supported me by purchasing the film on vimeo-on-demand! Now it's free! rolfnylinder.com
This is a dry fly fishing documentary filmed the summer of 2019 heavily inspired by Floating Flies (and how to dress them) and Bård og Lars på fisketur, a fly fishing series from Norway.
England. The River Test. Split cane. Finnmark, Håvard Stubö, Peter Christensen, Podsol Fly Fishing, Mosquitoes. Mayflies.
Something by Rolf Nylinder.
Featuring: Håvard Stubö, Peter A Christensen, Jack F Hogan, Guhuru Milta, Frederic M Halford and more.
Rolf your videos are absolutely brilliant. They are very different from the shiny commercial fly fishing stuff. I get back and watch these again and again. Thanks a lot!
Same story for me!
Regarding your confession that you have never read ‘Floating Flies...’, Mark Twain once said that a classic is a book that everyone talks about but no one reads.
Why would anyone ‘dislike’ this video? Absolutely brilliant. Thank you
Agree! Probably jealous of how good the film is
Just thinking the same thing. Rolf's videos are some of the best storytelling on UA-cam. Plus Trout!
@@mythandmischief1675 I’m not even into fishing but I love his videos.
Someone left the gate open at the tard farm again , a few got out and went on a dislike spree 👎👎👎👎 🤣🤣🤣
I think some ears could have aversion to high pitch male voices? I mean, wtv. floats your boat ..for me good camera takes, healthy looking fish ..not a dislike, I'm just muting the sound, sorry
This man's body of work is impressive.
"And perhaps I wasn't a very good father...at least not in June." Haha, love the dry humorous lines. Nice work man!
Thank you for sharing this, i'm catching it 3 years later, this is a beautiful film.
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing film. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry at 30:16. We've all felt that dread of losing a great fish. Much love from Texas.
One of the best movie/videos I’ve ever seen in my 58 year life. Incredibly well done! 👍👍 Thank you and Best wishes from Texas! 🎣
Rolf Nylinder's movies brings so much joy to me. It is what real fly fishing is like, Getting stuck in trees with the fly, snapping off on a good fish, missing takes, I have watched all of his movies, SUPER>
The best of the best !!!!
From Russia with love
Thank you 🙏
In so many ways this is an exceptional film. Great details like some comments, design of the title screens and the good taste of background sounds. This film makes you feel the flyfishing emotions, like wondering if there is fish in the stream, wondering how to catch a fish you see, catching a fish, feeling insecure about your approach, solving the puzzle and so on. A film worth watching twice to see and learn more. Thanks a lot!
Absolutely Jos! He does such a good job of highlighting one of the greatest joys of fly fishing; the puzzle-solving. I am working on highlighting that in my own future videos, and this is a great example of how to do it!
This is legitimately an epic piece of film making! Authentic, entertaining and funny! What a legend! This guy deserves 14 million subscribers let alone 14 thousand!
Seriously! Makes my vlogging-style look like amateur hour haha!
One of the best movies on the subject ever made. Hands down brilliant.
Lovely seeing you guys fishing on the Test. The river made the national news in the UK last month because the water company wanted to dump raw sewage into it rather than having to pay to process it which they are paid to do. There was a national out cry and the water company changed their mind... Unbelievable that company executives believe dump raw sewage in a precious ecosystem is a good idea.
I live within a few minutes of the Test, and its fishing is pure bliss. I've fished northern Sweden too, and found the blood loss to mosquitoes, with their incessant buzzing in my ears, just too much to be pleasurable. I guess I'm a wimp. Anyway, this film was a great pleasure to view, and it catches the obsession that fishing can be. Thank goodness, that overwhelming obsession has dwindled just a little in me, so sleep comes more easily.
I just found your video, I'm not able to fish at this point do to a shoulder surgery and it will be months before I can fish again. I wanted to thank you for all your videos because they are helping fight the depression of not being able to fish myself.Thank you
Have already seen it a hundred times, but why not see it again 😂😍
I'm loving your work man. One of the best fly fishing films l've seen, really captured the magic and madness of what we do to catch a fish.
I follow a lot of people who are making videos about fly fishing, but man..., your videos are the best fly fishing videos that can find on the internet. This one is a masterpiece, which could easily go somewhere on a movie festival. Thank you very much for sharing :)
Greetings from Russia Rolf! I'm writing this again, you have created a masterpiece! Thanks for these tales. All of this is incredible. Music, shooting, nature, fly fishing, trout and the people around you are all wonderful. Thank you!
Award winning !
thank you kind fellows. as the snow piles outside my window, and the holiday intertia comes to an end, my last day before returning to the labour finds me enjoying your adventures. im dreaming of the end of spring run off, the calming of my mountain stream, and the snap of a rising cut throat to a royal coachman floating rapidly along its surface.
these celluloid moments quell the yearning just enough to manage a few more months of old man winter. if ever you find yourself in british columbia, find me on the stream and i will show you wild creeks.
I am a good dad too just not in June. Great film. So much to take away from the pure love of it all. Nice
Dude..#1 comment! Haha!
Glad I could support a brilliant film via vimeo (watched it 4 times by now). Pleased to see it open to everyone so they can enjoy it. Cheers Rolf
Thanks Sam!
No worries Rolf. Always happy to support and watch your films 😁. They never lose their appeal
I grew up in Romsey town on the river test , when I was a kid we used to fish all the secret places on the test every day .
I live now over in the Alps in Europe now, your video brought back fond memories
Dude, your films are astounding, such beautiful but honest scenes of philosophy and flyfishing... thank fuck this world has Havard and Rolf flyfishing in it
Goat! You are the best fly fishing film maker
He's an inspiration. A true inspiration for creators everywhere. I love his content - inspires me to reach higher highs with my own content.
22:26
Wow! Best flyfishing film I've ever seen. Captures the essence of the adventure. And from the comments I see that many others think the same. Let me throw you a bone: a hoodie will keep the bugs off the mosquitos off of the back of your neck and head.
Oh Rolf thanks for the movie, my soul is smiles...
Good show old boy, glad you came to the U.K. always pleased to see anglers from the rest of the universe in her Britain’s majesties realm.
Sorry meant Britannic majesties realm
This long video is the only excuse we acccept, for not uploading videos for the last months. I love it. Great work!
This movie is like .... M A G I C !!!!
I'm going to rewatch it a thousand times. :)
You are very gifted Rolf.
How does this only have 35k in views!!!! This is some awesome production value. Awesome job telling the story and editing!
Underbara stunder med underbar natur och fiskesituationer och härliga fiskar men framför allt "Västerbotten" . Grymt bra film och filmad och ressigerad och allt allt allt......
2021 was becoming so productive. Then I watched this film. Now I can only think of trout... Damn you...
When the screen paused and went black, my heart broke....ohhh No, broken cane!!
Great film work and that beautiful golden leopard Brown.
This is the stuff fly fishing films are made of. By that I mean to say that this is the stuff fly fishing is made of AND this is the stuff filmmaking is made of. Beautiful all around. Thanks Rolf.
Yes! Finally, after stumbling through all the click bait and sponsored miasma, a wonderful film about a Vicking ? With the help of a Rastafarian rod builder, storming the castle, but in a very respectful way by someone obviously in love with the art. Great film making regardless of the subject matter which brings interest regardless of the viewer’s knowledge of dry fly fishing. Instead of view count pushing mostly junk to the top, there ought to be an art and film council making recommendations because then we may be able to find content like this without wading through the muck.
This is really great and inspiring. its 11am and I want to be drinking, covered in mosquitos and chasing the Yellow King! Greetings from New Mexico.. I you ever get out to the high desert I'd love to show you around. Cheers!!
A fabulous film. The very essence of fly-fishing. Well done.
Rolf,
This might be one of the most beautiful fly fishing movies I have seen. Brings a smile to my face. A slow drizzle of snow here in Colorado has me dreaming of summer dry flies, and how to dress em.
I too dream the dry fly dreams! Those are always the best.. best for videos, best for fun, best for action.. alas, we must wait until April :(
Wonderful film. Catches the very soul of fly fishing. The adventure of exploring new places, the friendship, the nasty weather and short season. Moskitoes everywhere. And outstanding fisherman Havard
Man you're so right. So much of fly fishing is more than just the fishing.. one of my favorite things as I've started making my own videos is realizing just how much 'awesome' there is to share with the world.
Realized I've seen it but rewatched it all again in awe. Please don't be away for 6 months again!
Holy shit Rolf this stuffs good and deeply rooted in tradition. I loved the blow up and digital enhancements showing your buddies secret spot in the brown trouts reflecting image… had me straight up bussin out loud! Bravo
Many fish for years and never realize is isn't the fish they are there for. Great video.
Enjoyed completely..... beautiful country and truly appreciate the respect and dedication to Dry Fly angling. Keep the films coming. (Canada)
I wish it was summer already. Greetings from Finland!
Your trip are so amazing ! Comment faites vous pour garder votre sang froid avec tous ces moustiques ! Yours pictures are so beautifull like every movies Your made ! I'am so admirative ! Good job ! Merci
Time to get this man a Netflix Series! Honestly, incredible work Rolf. Brings inspiration to me for my own videos, and a true joy to watch. Thank you for sharing with the world!
we should pay to see this ! thank's Rolf
/Mirko
🙏
It's amazing how good chemisty you two have together. Film was so nicely put together, Tarantino of Sweden. Fantastisk film! Tack från Finland.
How lucky we are that you share your film !! it's just magic ... like all your videos
MANY THANKS Rolf 🙌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤
Wonderful ... just wonderful! The mosquitoes ... not so much. I almost cried when the split bamboo fly rod splintered. As you found out, bamboo is very forgiving ... but not that forgiving. Take care.
Rolf - you never cease to amaze me with your work... So happy I ran across your films on lemouching many years ago.
Thanks!
these videos are by far the best fishing videos and movies ive ever seen, these videos are brilliantly made. Thank you so much for making this.
I've been there! Kid wants to go home but you cant help wanting to stay for just a bit longer... Beautiful film Rolf! A masterpiece.
I screamed no!! At 37:14. Thought you lost it. 👍👍 Great film. It made me so happy to see your trials and failures and then success and joy.
This is an excellent movie - I bought it on Vimeo, well worth it. I wish Rolf's movie from the year before - mosquitos and mayflys - was also on there so I could support that too.
Simply the best film making.
Hey Sam! Love to see you supporting Rolf. Do you know where to buy Mosquitoes and Mayflys? As you said, this man deserves the purchases!
@@elisjournal4435 I wish I did - can't find it anywhere.
great to have english subtittles there were so many things i couldn't understand. Even if I watched it several times I will watch this wonderful film more and more
Thank you
Faen så bra! Beste timen forran skjermen på et par år!
I’m definitely watching these videos because I loved the video you did with Kristian. I’m a fisherman and I live on a lake. I’m doing this stuff soon. Guitar. Poles. Strings and line. Peace and love brother.
WOW That was GREAT.. i love this film.... there is a subtle but awesome sense of humor.... In the gentle presentation there are a few spots where i had to shout... I loved it.. Great to go fish stalking with you ... SUPER FILM... J
Absolutely love it. Thanks Rolf. I'm so glad someone is highlighting the un-naturalness of the antiquated English chalk steam fishing. Stocked fish, man made environs - it's fun, no doubt about it, but it doesn't feel the same as hiking in to somewhere untouched, tuning in with the world around you and only then catching fully wild fish.
Well chalkstream fishing is changing. I have fished them for nearly 30 years now, and although some are still stocked (often the most expensive, highly managed beats), the club I am a member of (and which is by no means exclusive) have moved towards a policy of not stocking but instead enhancing wild fish populations, improving the rivers for wildlife and supporting biodiversity. i love wilderness fishing, but chalk streams have their own charm. Don't be too ready to dismiss them as antiquated.
This masterpiece of a film made me feel so good. Thank you Rolf.
Great piece of art, pure dry fly philosophy and perfection. A big thanks for sharing it¡¡
Riktigt riktigt bra och välgjord film!
Rolf, I've been waiting for this movie all year long. Thank you so much.
belgium does not have these big wildernis adventures, but even there, flyfishing is magic, can't wait til the end of march, beautiful work guy's, congrats!
What a brilliant piece of flyfishing heaven. Thank you !
48:16... This river is a hot spot. Last summer we fished on the river. Yellow trouts and beautiful nature. Great job Rolf. Perfect slowmotions!
A piece of art, congratulations you made my day !
👍🏼solid film man! I had no intention of watching a video this long today but you grabbed my attention and held it for the entirety of the film. You earned another subscriber.
This is just brilliant. Thank you so much for making it and if you ever want to fish a ‘wild’ chalkstream in England again, give me a shout. Will take a lot of booze for any secrets to blurt out though...
Amazing Movie...Great Work Rolf! Greetings from Poland !
Seen it twice. Fantastic. You guys have what it takes.
Thanks a lot! You caught the soul of fly fishing.
Just brilliant work, Rolf, seriously. I could smell the cow parsley. This is the best fishing film I've seen all year.
been subscribed since the field coffee days, one of the best nature filmmakers around no doubt
Tusen takk, Rolf. Fluefiske er poesi og du materialiserer det nok en gang 🙏😊
Tack Rolf för att du hjälper mig genom vintern!🙏
Fantastically put together film, top marks boys.
Yes ! Once again I was overcome with joy. Thank you kindly. Greetings from Maine USA.
I wish only such amazing movies on YT.
Du er mesteren, som de andre må måle sig op imod Rolf ! tak for endnu en fantastisk flot film ! Hilsen Torben, DK
Loved the beginning about the English traditions, it gives our sport an elitist rep. But Rolf and his pals are down-to-earth funny dudes.
What better way to celebrate catching a trophy trout on a dry fly than with a bottle of our own Irish Jameson whiskey, pure class!
wonderful film and happy that you told the truth about the test !
The most inspiring fishing videos on UA-cam!
This was just what was needed on a dreary December day in northern England. It makes me long for Spring, fantastic work👍
How's the fly fishing in England? I want to travel there over the summer and shoot some videos... any recommendations?
Rolf, this is absolutely spectacular. Thank you for your talent and treasure that is fly fishing. I hope you continue to bring out more content.
16 people -so far- DON'T drink Jimmy's uisge beatha I guess... XD... nor do they like fly fishing it would seem. The fishing in this film is nothing short of superb. The editing is first class and the narration style really tells the story. I was hooked from the beginning. Love -so far- all your films, hope you keep up with the good stuff.
By far the best fly fishing videos/movies! I always enjoy your work...thank you from Texas!
i can always find a wonderful feeling of calm and peace in your videos...really good job Rolf!! In my opinion this is the true essence of fly fishing
You're so right. So much of the beauty in fly fishing is in the intangible - the calm, the nature, the storms, the wind, the laughing rivers.. not to sound like Pocahontas, but your comment really stood out to me. 'The true essence of fly fishing' - so true!
Great film with a lot of nice shots with big trout👍
Ännu en underbar tankeställare om fisket & livet, TACK 🙏❤️🖖🤙
Relaxing, informative and fascinating video....
Brilliant video. I've watched it 10+ times, always while thumbing through some John Gierach book on fly fishing or tying some flies. Thanks, Rolf.
