I believe animals see us as energy. I know from playing the piano that it was the time I was most at peace and really in the "now". Animals live in the present as well and they are really drawn to us when we are calm and peaceful and present. I think they are also drawn to the resonant energy of "unplugged" organic music. It is so very interesting to see the personality and character of barn animals who are treated with decency and respect. Thank you.
When a wild bird started roosting in my broken-forced air heater box, it wasn't long before the bird tweeted enthusiastically at the music of a TV commercial. Since then, we've been listening to music together. For the bird, this is the ultimate thing. It has no use for listening to music alone. I can't just play music on my computer and then go do something, because the bird is obsessed with tracking me in the house and understanding what I'm doing. It's almost as if it wants to participate, or at least not be left out. All it wants is for us to listen to music together. At first I played soft music so as not to shock or frighten the bird. After a while, it became clear that the bird likes all kinds of music, and in fact loves it when an instrument in some solo part of a musical piece goes wild. It loves crescendos, loves the human voice....singing voice. It doesn't like dialog. It can alter it's simple tweet to express approval, disapproval, anticipation, suffering (used when there isn't music playing), excitement, even ecstasy (when the music hits the sweet spot). Anyhow, it would be interesting to find out what kind of music cows like. We assume it must be soft, pleasant music. Broadly speaking, has there been a scientific study concerned animals and music? Do we know which species like music?
I wonder if SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) would be interested in this field. Stepping stone to communicating with whatever might be out there.
This is a rescue organization, so it may be that the calf(?) was only recently taken in and is just beginning to recover, or perhaps they are having to heal some sort of damage that happened with the cow's previous 'owners' and are forced to restrict his/her diet temporarily or something. However, remember that in factory farms animals are overfed and often injected with hormones and antibiotics, amongst other methods, to cause them to gain enormous amounts of weight far beyond what is normal, natural or healthy - so if your image of a "typical" cow is based on that, which unfortunately almost everyone's is, what might at first appear normal is horribly overweight and hence what looks to be dangerously underweight might be just a bit on the skinny side (but within a range that's not unhealthy).
i started learning to play violin and i can tell you NOT all animals like music....my cats would leave the house every time i practiced...or run and hide.
Every animal should be so safe and loved in our civilization, thank you for this.
Yes!
That's great. I loved how they responded to the music. They were happy and curious and it seemed to help with their digestion. ;-)
Cows definitely like music!
That was adorable, and gorgeous playing too ^.^
So nice to see Kayli big and happy!
