this is just the beginning. Imagine some dude with some money to start a company and build the building by itself. all the workers would have no idea who the hell even is their boss. But they know the AI will fire them if it knows they're messing up. Or maybe some scheme where the AI is being used into swatting someone. But all that is still far away.

It was an overpromise in 2018 that they were unable to deliver on. A few things that help highlight this are the business not identifying themselves when called, the worker not giving their name, the lack of ambient noise in the background (a hair salon without chatter/a TV/hair driers/etc.), the person taking the reservation not asking for a name, and the AI in the Google assistant not fumbling during the conversation when it needs to readjust the situation. Something that Google's AI Gemini (alongside others like ChatGPT) still struggle with.
It's become a part of the Call Screen feature for a while now in the US. Assistant can take those unknown number calls for you and show you a real time transcript of what's happening in the call on the screen. You can choose to pick it up midway if you think it's relevant to you

not an issue for Salons... issue for people and their hard on for privacy. Stupid part is also you can't book far ahead. Well in my experience. Doc: ok come back in 6months for another check up... Me: Can't book now and will forget about. If I do remember, somehow all times are booked already, so I have to wait for next schedule by checking daily.

I'm still waiting for this. I have social anxiety and phone calls are my worst nightmare. I avoid calling to schedule my doctors appointments by embarrassingly asking family or friends to do it.
Same I would definitely use this as much as possible
this will end with opposing robots having conversations with each other that will turn into them just instantly simulating play battle based on their skills and determining the vector without any conversation taking place.

This was something they announced back in 2012. Your google assistant can't even turn on two different sockets at the same time without having an aneurism.

What we got was a call screen ai that not only sounds robotic but can't even dictate what someone says, forcing me to answer.

I have gotten this for reservations at a restaurant, but it does have limitations. Certain requirements that are nonstandard don't work. IE it does not know whether the customer wants to reserve a grill or normal seating at teppanyaki.
It's funny when companies will implement those same robots they'll just be talking to each other 😂

This has been out for quite some time now. I had to answer these calls all the time like 3 years go and it honestly worked pretty flawlessly. Can't recall an issue.

I always got calls like this to make a reservation when I was working in the restaurant industry! They really do sound real!! I was never 100% sure based on hearing it but the caller ID was always from google. They’re intelligently receptive
