Maybe a future video/video series of top classic manga you would like to see be released in English? Maybe in eras from the 60s/70s/80s/90s. Always cool to discover new series, and we know that a lot of the big publishers do tune in to your videos

I checked my phone when the notification popped up. I loudly said what the fuck. I'm at work. This is incredible, I read the fan translation because i never thought this would happen! If Kinnikuman gets translated this year I'm not sure my heart could take it!
I'm excited. THis was easily in my top 10 series to be published. Even moreso it could be a watershed moment for more classic series to be published in English. I'm hoping for Touch to see a release and Phoenix a re-release!

FUCK YEAH! I have been waiting for this news for years. Ashita no Joe is my favorite manga series of all time. I loved it so much that I went out and bought the Japanese Volumes. I can't wait to own the series in English!
while it’s not as old as Ashita No Joe, this gives me a glimmer of hope that Holyland will get an english print one day
I'm hoping with this we can get stuff like Ring Kakero (I think it's called that, the other series by the creator of Saint Saiya), Hajime no Ippo, and Yawara. Older sport series from the 80s/90s
I first came to know of this manga while reading 20th Century Boys. Kenji comes back as Joe. I was looking out to read this and now good that Kodansha releasing such a classic.
It's well worth the read, although I'd suggest watching the anime especially for the second season if you have the time.
So glad for you guys! This manga is such a classic. One of these fondamental manga series I might even say. And I'm really jealous of the edition you're getting!
I'm collecting my manga almost exclusively in French and here we got one of the most basic edition (no jacket or anything). Still better than nothing I guess... But I'm considering upgrading for the English version now 😄

This was my most wanted series to get licensed and is in my top 3! I really hope this paves the way for more deluxes/classics like how 7s has been doing with their classic collection

I am from Mexico and I was collecting Ashita no Joe from Arechii ( Spain ) who was editing it in spanish, however It has been in Hyatus since a while. If it doesn´t resumes I will purchase this US Kodansha release. This is such a great manga that needs more recognition.

This is exciting news. I can't think of any classic manga I want to see off the top of my head, but there are two video game tie-in manga that I really wish would be released outside Japan such as the Tales of the Abyss manga and the FF12 manga. We know from the Kingdom Hearts manga and FF novels that their connected media do fairly well.
Ashita no Joe while not my usual storyline, has the aesthetic of character design that reminds me of my favorite classic anime like Mobile Suit Gundam and Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, so that alone makes me interested in giving it shot. Thanks for sharing this news and broadening my horizons on manga story types I wouldn't usually read.
Hopefully this opens the gates for Hajime no ippo or kingdom

Not so much of a classic, but I was trying hard to collect Hikaru no Go. I ended up buying it digitally, but will purchase an omnibus if it comes one day.

Indonesia have had "Ashita No Joe" manga since long time ago, it was named as "Boys Action II", I hope that our publisher would reconsider to reprint this manga for the better paper quality and better translation
(We Indonesians also have Ippo here, complete volumes from 1 to >130, hope there will be English translation too, for the English native speakers certainly...)

Nice, maybe there is still hope for hajime no ippo. Not the biggest fan of these big bulky hardcovers though, they just are not as comfortable a reading experience. I'll take this over reading digital scans though. As far as other classics go... Tezuka's blackjack and phoenix are in dire need of a reprint.

It depends. If they release 3-4 volumes in a year that can be pricey. But say 2 volumes a year that's not too bad at all.
@@walterblack8903 these are going to be 2.5 in 1 and also the same deluxe hardcover size as other kodansha books, like vinland saga, a slient voice and The Ghost in the Shell
