I think it's called a tap ball? Isn't it? Is that different? Because you are tapping the ball. Push would have continuous contact with the stick until release.
As a SA I can clarify this: Difference between a push pass and a slap is the hand hold/grip. Push pass uses the same grip (hands separated) as a flick meanwhile a slap uses hands together and. Hands are parallel to the ground as opposed to the push where they are perpendicular. Or to make it easy ,the indoor pass is a push pass because slaps are illegal indoor but sweeps(or fake slaps) are fine
We call it slap pass in australia I tell you what I did a challenge with the number 1 goalie on who could do the furthest slap pass fully padded and none of us could hit the ball so we just hit it as if we would clear it and that worked better also Dennis I’m getting a goalie kit because I use the club pads what brand would you recommend I’m looking at gryphons cause there the ones a use but I’m not 100% sure
Hi Hockey Hero's....Im a 15year old South-African and I looove your videos,it really helped me to doe better in hockey...infact...it gave me an opportunity to go to Europe.....I really hope to see one of you guys there....❤
I agree with Lawrence. A push is the exertion of force on something for an extended period of time, for example; pushing a door open or pushing a basketball down in order to dribble it. A slap is when you strike something with the flat of an object, for example; slapping a face where your palm is the flat of the object. In hockey, if your stick doesn't start on the ball before you pass it, it is a slap or a hit and the distance determines what it is called. A sweep is a slap hit over a long distance and what you are doing in this video is a slap hit. If your stick starts on the ball before you make the pass then it is a push. The best analogy for this is the opening of a door; when you open a door, your hand starts on the door and then you PUSH it open whereas, if you started with your hand not touching the door and then you hit the door it would be a slap.
Definitely a slap, I would always have said a push the ball is carried on the stick until release. You are literally slapping the ball with the stick ergo it’s a slap... though you do start doing a few push passes toward the end of the video...
Its a slap pass, but its almost a push pass. Reason I believe this is that the head of the stick does not start close to the ball and in some demos the head of the stick does not start on the ground with the ball in the movement. Do you believe that all of these examples would be legal if they were performed indoors? Keep up the great work, our kids love watching the videos
Here in NZ we'd probably call that a tap, or a push pass. We use slap and sweep interchangeably. Though normally our push passes would be near silent passes.
If the stick comes off the ball then generally we call it a slap in the UK. Push the stick stays on the ball until release
In south africa we call that a bunt and what you guys call a sweep , we call a slap
Hoe gaan dit my SA bra😂😂😂
From SA
Thats is what we call a bunt
A push would be for close distance
A slap for long distances
And a bunt for intermediate to short distances
I think it's called a tap ball? Isn't it? Is that different? Because you are tapping the ball. Push would have continuous contact with the stick until release.
Will you make a video on how to do a moving push

This tap/slap pass? push should not have sound when push?
Just a little bit

For indoor, it depends on the distant with you stick behind the ball.
