Here's an overview of it's current feature set:
• Input - Use this to increase or decrease the overall distortion. Turning down the input will hit the distortion circuit with less gain, resulting in less distortion. Turning it up does just the opposite.
• Gate (added in v1.1.0) - Sets the threshold for the built-in noise gate to cut out unwanted signal noise.
• Output - Use this to compensate for any additional gain added from the Input or other processing doen within the plugin.
• Mix - Want to blend a bit of your DI signal in with the processed signal? This is where you'll do that.
• Bass & Treble - This two band shelf style EQ is super power and can actually act as if it was a 3 band EQ. For example, if you want more midrange content, simply pull back the Bass and Treble settings and turn up the Output. Or, if you want less midrange, simply do the opposite.
• Bypass - Bypasses the entire plugin. Switching the Bypass on will result in only the original DI signal coming out.
• Growl - Adds low-end distortion and that highly sought after THICCness. Turning it off reduces the low-end distortion and will basically be the DI signal but this can change dpending on how you use the Input knob.
• Hot - Adds top-end distortion for a more aggressive sound. Turning this off will still result in some distortion but it will be very minimul. You can use the Input knob to either add a touch more or less distortion overall.
• Impulse Responses - We teamed up with Airis Effects to provide 9 incredible bass IRs built in to the plugin. These 9 Airis Effects IRs all offer a unqie tonal characteristic. Flip through them and hear just how different, but also amaizng, they all sound. Have your own bass IRs you want to use? No problem, just turn the built in IR loader off by selecting the "No IR" option from the dropdown menu and then use you're own external IR loader to load up whatever IRs you want.

This is just what i needed,bass is sitting just where it should in the mix,withouth figthing with guitars and its still well defined.Great choice of IRs,cant decide which one is better.I used it withouth Growl button,becouse of style of music that i play.Great job man,keep up the good work.Greetings from Serbia.Cheers

So yeah.... i went and downloaded this today and of all Bass amp sims i have, Bassknob, BassForge, and the entire Ampeg suite, this FREE MF'er sits the nicest in my mix... Not to slag the others, i will still use them :-D.... But this thing is so simple, yet so god damn effective..
Version 1.1.0 was just released today (Feb 2nd, 2023). This includes a fix for Logic Pro validation failure as well as adds a built-in noise gate. Still free! Link is in video description. 🤘
Can't found vst3 file in reaper windows 7 x64. Only this plugin from vst3 folder not found
I’ve never tested it on Windows 7 so I can’t say that it’s supported at this time. Here’s two things you might try though:
1. Most DAWs have a way of resting the cache for all scanned plugins. I would recommend resetting that cache and rescanning all plugins again. If this doesn’t work, try the next option.
2. Try moving the “TheGrowler.vst3” from “Program Files\Common Files/VST3” into “Program Files (x86)\Common Files/VST3” and then restart you DAW and see if it picks it up then.
If neither of those work then I’m really not sure how to help without having access to a Win 7 machine.
Mine wouldn’t validate in logic. Running osx Monterey. Any suggestions?
Yes, download version v1.1.0, which I just published earlier this morning. That has a fix for the validation failure in Logic Pro as well as a built-in noise gate. Once installed, open Logic's Plugin Manager, search for "The Growler", select it and click the button at the bottom of the Plugin Manager window that says "Reset & rescan selection". You'll see a new window pop up with some out put and when it's done, it will have validated successfully and you're all set. Thanks for using the plugin! Edit: according to the description, Cubase is not supported although Howler was the same and I've already tried that.
Yeah, it’s more meant to say “I’ve not been able to test that it works in Cubase so it’s not officially supported”. However, if it does work OK there, that’s great.
@@JeremyFoxMusic Thanks Jeremy! I haven't used the Howler for a project yet, I just tested it quickly with a guitar but there were no problems. (Cubase 11,12)
I've had experience with some plugins in the past that only caused problems under certain circumstances or when exporting - I hope this won't happen with these, because they sound good. :P

No Pro Tools support yet?
Not just yet but it’s in the roadmap. I just need to start the processing of working with Avid to get access to their SDK. As I understand it, they don’t just let anyone have it. You basically have to apply for it and they determine if they’ll grant access or not. I’ll definitely send out email updates to my mailing list when there are new features and DAWs supported.
