I remember watching this show every day while I was home sick for a week with my dad in the very early 70’s, of course they were already reruns at that time, nice memories. These videos are fantastic, thanks for sharing them.
I like that these are popping up on my list, now that I've watched a few. These are all outstanding. The Sutton and Nabors voices are really good. Unlike The Andy Griffith Show, which always featured Ford cars, GPUSMC featured Chrysler models. Thanks for posting this!
My Mom had an exactly identical Coronet to the one the insurance company got for Sgt. Carter. Same color, same vinyl top! I learned to drive on that car! Good memories!
I had a 1960 Dodge Dart Seneca with 3 on the column and 225 slant 6. When i bought it it had 25,000 miles on it. However, it suffered with Michigan rust disease. I replaced the two front fenders. I drove it to Oregon from Michigan, then back to Michigan, then back to Oregon, then back to Michigan, and finally back to Oregon where I settled. It had 50,000 miles on it when I got rid of it. I also had a 1964 Dodge Dart with 3 on the column and a 170 slant 6.
The yellow 65 dart GT is rare, it has the charger 273 emblem on the front fender. They made between 180 - 300 of them, also came with cragar S/S wheels from the factory.
When Gomer says to Sergeant Carter, “But the owner of the construction company felt so bad about it, he wanted you to have this new 1966 car with his compliments,” it was one of the very few times that a date was mentioned in these old favorite sitcoms of the 60s and 70s, as they wanted the settings/periods to be non-specific for syndication. Also, since this episode, “Gomer Minds His Sergeant's Car,” aired on December 10, 1965, Chrysler Corporation really wanted to emphasize that this was a 1966 model, so the year was allowed to be mentioned.
I remember Carter having the red 1960 Dodge Dart. I thought I remembered that he had all through the run of the series. But I remember the scene of it getting crushed. I was kicking myself for my faulty memory, but then I remembered this was about 60 years ago.
I remember being a kid and tramatized when the wrecking ball landed on Sgt. Carter's car. Later, I realized that the gorgeous, top of the line car he drove, was replaced in that scene with a stripped down base model painted the same color with "poverty" hubcaps. Hope the original has survived.
One more comment. In the episode where Sgt. Carter taps the fender of "Grandpa Munster's" Dart, the real cause of all the damage was his wife, played by veteran actress, who couldn't navigate the tree next to their driveway. Gomer pays a visit and watches as she slams that new Dodge into the tree, AGAIN. It's painful to watch for a Mopar guy.
Love these videos. That checker was too cool, and probably rare even then. One other episode with a lot of cool cars is the oh my papa from maybe 66, the gangsters drove big Chryslers and imperials driving to the base constantly trying to get gomer to sing at their night club. And Meathead was one of the 3 hippies in the international episode.
My grandfather had a 1959 Cadillac Sedan de Ville, flat-top like at 3:39, except his was silver. That was my shrine growing up in the 1980s. Every visit I'd go out and sit in it and pretend I was driving. Loved that car!
Also, I really like these Classic Cars of TV shows you're doing - I'd recommend doing the best of Perry Mason. 9 season run from 1957-1966. It was interesting how the main cars would alternate between GM and Ford products, but there are a lot of different cars, especially with the wealthier clients and suspects!
@@williamegler8771 thank you for pointing out what was obviously a typo, I was able to save face and you were able to get self gratification in pointing out someone's mistake a big win for both of us.
cool org calif black plate cars , you should do all seasons "that girl" Donald drove fords plus lot of back ground cars in NYC and the Dorris day show 68 barracuda convertible in one season openings
9:16 no that is not a '68 Dodge Coronet it is a NINETEEN SIXTY EIGHT ROAD RUNNER. How in the f*ck did I miss that? What a doofus, my apologies to fusion kidd who does a helluva job with these videos and obviously doesn't need my help.
They should make these videos showing only the cars, nobody cares about all the story lines in between car shots. Viewers watch to see the old cars. The videos would be less than half as long.

Im drooling seeing all the beautiful Mopars
That ‘68 Road Runner tho

@@julienielsen3746 Yes, but I felt so sorry for Gomer. ;)
Gomer was teched 😢🎉😂😅😊

@@Greg-xv9qj Me too. Nice car.
3:41 Always always loved the Mercury Breezeway. As a kid the neighbors had one. Our 1950s homes driveways had covered breezeways!

One of the most rerun shows in history.
The ‘53 Plymouth in Mayberry has ‘57 Plymouth wheel covers. It’s amazing how many older MoPars were used in these shows; not just new ones!
Did anyone else notice all the new mopar vehicles had manufactures plates and the other vehicles had either prop plates or period correct plates..
A lot of the plates were real. it is easy to tell a real plate as the digits are much bigger than the prop plates.
I remember a few of these episodes. The wrecking ball smashing Sargent Carters' car was one of my favorites. Thanks for the memories.
Jim Nabors and Frank Sutton narrating makes it more awesome. Instead of someone that wasnt there narrating. Awwsome they had the hindsight to so this.
Actually it was foresight to do this knowing 60 years later UA-cam would need it.
I LOVE your videos of cars on T.V. shows.
If you ever do “Hawaii Five-O” the video will be a long one!
Great cars!
Love the real sounding voices of the actors.
Thanks Fusion Kidd I like these documentaries.
Thank you for this..
You must have someone that really knows their cars identifying all these cars in these Classic Cars of 50's and 60' TV episodes.
I love these shows that used real California license plates.
ZIV Productions did the Highway Patrol ….. they had about 10 vehicles plus the bosses cars to choose from .😊
Three cheers for the Austin Healy 100
The four cylinder Austin Healey is the rarest bird 😊
Chrysler and Ford were so big on product placement that you'd never know GM had a 52% market share at the time.

The exact same gag happens in Home Improvement. A crappy less-desirable car stands in for the Taylors’ Nomad wagon.

Grandpa Munster and the penguin seemed to be a perfect fit.
His wife is Katheen Freeman.
Al Lewis. The pickpocket is Ellen Corby who played Grandma Walton.
@@AcmeRacing before she settled in Walton's mountain it seemed Grama was kinda a shady character .

You should do "The Waltons" . A lot of nice old cars in that series.
Thanx! I still do this when I watch old shows.
The episode when the wrecking ball destroys sgt Carter’s 60 Dodge is cringeworthy. That was a sweet ride.

Pyle had been a gas station attendant in his native Mayberry, NC before he joined the Marines.
In the 5 years of "Gomer Pyle", Sgt. Carter had, had like 7 cars. What was up with that?
Loved this show
This show was a universe of MoPars in an America without a Vietnam War.
And a spinoff of a show full of Fords about a Southern sheriff that never acknowledged the Civil Rights era.
Or the plight of the indigenous ones
I presume the censors at CBS prohibited any mention of civil rights or Vietnam. Such subjects would have been considered taboo for a 1960s sitcom.

That old lady thief was grandma Walton from the Waltons
And Tom Bosley from Happy Days was Her partner.
There was one where they bought a boat. The car and boat were beautiful. I do not know to many 50’s vehicles.
The boat was a prize Gomer won in a jingle contest or something.
HOW could you not mention the 1967 Mustang driving past the bus at 9:42, then parked at 9:47 in the background?! My first car!!

5:04 Did anybody clock the manufacturer plates on the Coronet?
