memories... i lost my first dog to a car one day in early 1979, and that hot summers night OL'55 was playing a huge gig at the Geelong Showground near where i lived... i remember the tears in my eyes as i lay in bed and heard this playing and thought of my dog... i wished my dog could 'Stay'... real sad for an 13yr old kid coz my dog was my best mate since i was 7, best xmas present ever... but what an incredible group... in years to come i was lucky enough to support OL'55 in the original line up from 'Take It Greasy' as a DJ in 1983 and also worked alongside Frankie J when he guest DJed in the later 80's... they still cut it today.
" Stay while the night is young " This song very popular in radio Australia those days, and RJ Glynis Dickson's wonderful voice, still ringing in my ears even to this day. Wow.
I remember watching the Big Gig back in the late 80's and wondering where I had heard Paul McDermott of DAAS voice before, its taken me another 30 years to figure out that he and Rockpile have similar voices and I had heard itas a kid in the 70's. Crazy.
Don't worry 'bout the morning Because the day might never come Don't worry 'bout the future Just stay while the night is young Don't pretend that it's your first time Don't pretend that it's no fun Don't tell me 'bout your mother Just stay while the night is young It's so easy to relax if you try Please don't think about the time going by You can tell me 'bout the things on your mind Just lie back and unwind Just experience the moment Instead of thinking what's to come Can't have the fall before the summer So stay while the night is young
great rare clip ! ..this is the once only appearance of "Micky Raffone" . Frankie and Wilbur had just left and Mickey joined briefly before he disappeared and Bruce "tangle legs" Allen joined as the new sax player. Thanks for posting this great clip Youngdot 82
Hey AV porto. I was at Geelong showgrounds that day! Great song.Thats my OL55 fave tune.. Skyhooks headlined.(I got Bongos autogragh) With Kevin Borich Express, Redhouse, A band called Mack opened. YOU ROCK!!
You are ALL correct. Raw Sienna was there high water mark. When Youlden left, and then Foghat was born, they were never the same. No disrespect to Kim Simmonds who retained their name and is an excellent guitar slinger. For many years I thought Youlden was a Heroin burnout, but I don’t know why he left. The way he sang was so explosive, maybe he just blew his vocal chords out!
I've asked elsewhere but will ask here as well..... I want to see the full version of Frankie J's "My Right Of Way" ( Theme from the movie "FJ Holden"" )
Ol'55 - classic Aussie icon band ! Should be inducted into the Hall of Fame !

What was that all about? Can we now have this in English?
My favourite of the 70s groups. Does anyone know who wrote it,?
Jim MANZIE wrote it, like most of the songs on "Cruisin' For A Bruisin' "
