I think the message in the beginning saying it doesn’t have to be perfect is important. I remember one time my brother in law came over ( he is 6’4 ) and he was standing by my fridge and ran his finger across the top like they do in the movies when checking for dust. I had just cleaned it because I keep my large metal bowls up there but for years I let that live in my head and I cleaned it a ridiculous amount of times per week. I finally decided that it was weird of him to do that and I’m not the one who should be embarrassed in that situation. I went back to cleaning it about once a week and that’s good enough for me.
Yes, that's honestly quite rude of someone to do that. 😅Most of us have much more important things to do than make sure seldom seen or used surfaces are spotless on a daily or even weekly basis. If you're cleaning it weekly, you're still doing better than most of us! 😂😂
@@j.8678 😂 trust me, that just means I run a damp microfiber cloth over it on kitchen deep cleaning day and sometimes I just don’t feel like doing it 🤷🏻♀️

My brother-in-law tried that once 🤣I handed him a cloth! He never tried it again. The shocked look on his face was priceless.

I love your intro! I told my oldest 2 kids the other day that as a mom/homemaker I get to do everything that I ever wanted to when I was younger. I get to be a chef, a teacher, a nurse, a decorator, a farmer, a therapist, and so much more. It's all about the perspective we have!

I was born in 1950 in the netherlands and was very lucky with my parents..granny and my darling aunt teaching me how to cook and just make do with what you have.
I was always helping in the kitchen from 3 years old on..happy moments.
When i got my 3 darling kids and later my grandson i starting the same things and they are amazing cooks and homemakers..my sons wife was lucky indeed because she could boil an egg..😂
For all of them i made their special illustrated cookbooks and simpel housekeeping tips..the recepies are famely favourits from all over the world.
I started to make these after the phonecaals came "mam..how do you make this......
When my kids were small i baked my own bread..

Your onions look great! This was my first year planting onions and they are so easy!! They really do give you a great bang for your buck. And I agree with you, they are quite pretty when braided and hung up

I am so happy and envious of you ladies that can be a housewife and raise you're children. EMBARASS IT AND BE THANKFUL. I was a single mother of 2 infant til one was grown and the other was 8 before remarrying. I MISSED SO MUCH. They are grown and out on own...I still have to work...still missing being the chance of being that housewife do to i have to have insurance hubby on disability😢

I think it’s a good idea to put paper in between the flowers and the pages of the books, the flowers might stain the pages or dampen them.
I don’t know if those are books that you care about and intend to keep but you can buy special papers or bags to put the flowers in prior to pressing that keeps the oils and moisture away from the pages while your flowers are being pressed and are drying.

Use a cheese or collander grater for desteming your herbs, and run the stem backward through a hole depending on the size you need.. makes it easier. Food for thought. ❤

Thank you for the reminder that simple things can make a big impact. Pressed flowers 🌸, new flavors, and small changes in our environment bring joy and take little effort. Sometimes I need the reminder that it’s not a failure if it’s not perfect. It’s important to enjoy the process and the people in our lives appreciate the effort.

I have several huge lavender bushes and love making sachets, bouquets. I just made some lavender syrup for my iced lattes. So refreshing and delicious. Tried your recipe for the discard lemon bread. Turned out perfectly and everyone loved it. The lemon drizzle over the finished bread adds some extra zing. Always enjoy watching what you are doing in your home and garden.

Can you deep dive into how you’re able to stay in such amazing shape with multiple children? I know you’re busy all day, so that helps, but I feel like I’m also on my feet all day and have trouble. Do you workout?
Also how do you handle alone time, meltdowns, all the hard parts of motherhood?
I don't work out but I am very active as I am a high energy person (my whole family is) I eat what you see on here placing a high priority on fermented foods, raw milk, meat from my sisters farm and eggs from our chickens. I usually start my day with a kefir or yogurt smoothie and an espresso lol. I take a bath most nights and that is my quiet relax time...I love it! I do share more on mothering over at The Simple Farmhouse life podcast (I have a matching UA-cam channel by the same name) you may find good encouragement over there

You know what Lisa, I think home making is what works for the individual and their family, what you promote! I’m also agree with the cleanliness level, as long as you keep up with wiping down things as you go along. Having said that, I’ve always, what I call, bleach blast both my kitchen and bathroom, twice a month, for the added cleanliness factor.
I purposely grow beets to keep the tops, since you can’t find beet tops anywhere at farmers markets, or grocery stores. I absolutely adore beet tops, if you like cooked spinach, it’s a sweeter version of that.
Or I have an Italian recipe for kale, sauté it in olive oil with cooked potatoes and garlic, or garlic powder, delicious! ( don’t recommend it on date night, or do if you both eat it! lol! )
With the beet tops I sauté it them after blanching them, in a little bacon grease for flavour. Again delicious!
Love your idea with the flower tops, and have started drying my lavender, which I keep some for myself and give to my friends.
My lemon balm has gone wild, so making quite a bit of lemon balm tea, and iced tea with it.

My struggle is having a vision. As lonely as this sounds I get somewhat frustrated because I just can’t SEE what goes where or what I even want to place in certain spots in the home. I’ve never been a decorator, and I have huuuge walls so it’s almost paralyzing. Your home is beautiful!

How I overcame being so unsure and just not decorating is to try stuff out for a week or so and see how I like it. Pick out things you love and hang them somewhere and go from there. Do you enjoy seeing it there every day? ❤

I have a shelf similar to yours that I keep vintage mason jars filled with spices & supplements that are used often. I have a vent on my stove & it still gets greasy on the shelf & cabinets.

Summer here has been more like Autumn for now. It has been raining every week, some of those weeks we have seen rain every day. Summer vacation for schoolkids is now at it's third week and they haven't really had a chance to enjoy the sun.
(I personally don't mind this weather, I like rain better then 35 degrees Celcius.)

Beautiful and inspiring as usual 😊Thank you. I make a honey simple syrup 1:1 (honey:water) infused with whatever you’d like, usually lavender. I find it picks up the flavor and scent much better than an infused honey. Infused honeys take a long time to infuse and we want our lavender lattes now 😂

That is a perfect idea for above the stove! I don't have area above my stove to decorate but my decor in my kitchen gets greasy so if I change it out for things I use constantly in decorative canisters/containers I can clean them as I use them! Thanks sooo much for that fantastic idea!😃❤❤❤❤

Lavender lattes are so delicious! One of our favorite local coffee shops offers a blackberry lavender lemonade in the summer and it’s sooo good! Would be simple to make fresh at home too!
