- The Real Story of Aegon Targaryen 'The Conqueror' | Game of Thrones
In the midst of power struggles in Westeros, a man with a vision arose A prophecy about the destruction of mankind with a singular goal: to unite the 7 kingdoms and face the impending winter. His name still echoes today in songs and pages of the oldest chronicles, from Westeros to Essos. Aegon Targaryen!
we need a spin off on Aegons Conquest!! The real fans deserve it! And then we need one on Robert’s Rebellion
makes much more sense than jon's prequel
Yes
@superkoopatrooper4879 it could be epic if done with the actors voicing their characters and if done in a Anime type style with realistic looking characters, battles, and dragon's.
@@superkoopatrooper4879 I feel like they should start producing animated shows for this universe because it would be a great medium for lots of stories.

This story has so much potential, I don’t know why they don’t make it. 🐉
It’s in the works but might be delayed due to the strike.
He's also supposed to be very closed-off to everyone outside of his sister-wives and Orys Baratheon. He's an enigma. Or more accurately, he is THE enigma.
The Baratheons are famous for being furious, Lannisters for being Machivellian, Arryns for being Honourable, Starks of being hot-blooded, Grejoys of being Marauders, Tullys of being Familial etc. But Aegon is supposed to be Enigmatic from what I've gathered. Closer to dragons than humans.
It would surely be crazy expensive, even by Game of Thrones standards. To do it justice, with all those battles.
Also, although it's a very interesting read. It's such a processional, one-sided campaign, I'm not sure how compelling it would be. The Dance of the Dragons is a more evenly contested campaign, with both sides having victories and defeats, and therefore better suited to a TV drama
House of the Dragon is a good show but this story about Aegon should have been made first
First..
@@paulettemann4107 Edited....happy?
I'd love to see all the stories from Fire and Blood book tbh, Aegon the Conqueror's story would be epic, but also I'd love to see the reign of Jahaeris and Alyssane (although, I'm afraid that a long peaceful reign doesn't have much prospect for HBO)
Aegon's conquest wouldn't be as thrilling as The Dance Of Dragons
Roberts Rebellion however...?
We want this show, we need it.
Maybe season 5 or so of House of the Dragon. (Y)
@@ingainloggningsnamn it needs its own series “ The Dragons Conquest “
@@cronuszensei9274 that title of the show would be badass.
@@cronuszensei9274That title is too on the nose and cringe. That's like calling 'The Dance of Dragons' the 'Dragon Civil War'
Aegon the Conqueror: Shaping the Realm of Westeros
Aegon Targaryen, known to history as Aegon the Conqueror, stands as one of the most iconic and enigmatic figures in the fictional world of George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. With his mighty dragon Balerion the Black Dread and his indomitable will, Aegon forged the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros into a single, unified realm. In this essay, we will delve deep into the life and legacy of Aegon the Conqueror, exploring his origins, the Wars of Conquest, and the lasting impact he left on the continent of Westeros.
Aegon's story begins on the distant island of Dragonstone, where he was born in 27 BC. He was the last of the Valyrian Dragonlords, with silver hair and violet eyes, characteristic of his Targaryen lineage. His family, like other Dragonlords, possessed the powerful ability to tame and ride dragons, which would play a pivotal role in his later conquests.
Dragonstone, situated in Blackwater Bay, was once part of the Valyrian Freehold's far-reaching dominion. However, after the Doom of Valyria, this volcanic island became the Targaryen family's last refuge. It was on Dragonstone that Aegon, along with his sisters Rhaenys and Visenya, began to nurture and hatch the last surviving dragon eggs.
Aegon's first step towards his destiny as a conqueror was marked by his marriage to both of his sisters. Polygamy was a common practice amongst the Valyrians, and this union was meant to strengthen the Targaryen bloodline, ensuring the continuation of their dragon-riding legacy. These marriages also solidified the bond between the siblings, which would prove essential in their conquest.
The Wars of Conquest, which began in 2 AC (After Conquest), were a series of campaigns aimed at bringing all of Westeros under Aegon's rule. He was not content with Dragonstone alone and sought to create a single, unified realm. Aegon's first major success came in the form of the Field of Fire, a battle where he unleashed the full might of his dragon Balerion, along with those of his sisters, against a combined force of House Gardener and House Hoare. This battle set a terrifying precedent, showcasing the destructive power of dragons in combat and leaving a lasting impression on the minds of those who witnessed it.
Aegon's conquest continued as he marched through the Riverlands, the Stormlands, and the Vale. His ability to secure alliances and inspire loyalty in the territories he conquered was a testament to his leadership. He made clever use of the existing power structures, allowing some noble houses to retain their titles and lands while bending the knee to him. Aegon's famed saying, "I will be a just king, noble lords and ladies. Justice, not vengeance," illustrated his vision for a more equitable realm.
However, not all of Westeros welcomed Aegon's conquest. House Dorne, ruled by House Martell, fiercely resisted his rule. The resistance was prolonged and marked by guerrilla warfare, and it was not until many years later, during the reign of Aegon's descendant Daeron II, that Dorne was peacefully incorporated into the Seven Kingdoms.
Aegon's reign was not just about conquest; it was also about institution-building. He established the Iron Throne in the capital city of King's Landing, where he had the Red Keep constructed to house the ruling monarch. Aegon also created the position of the Hand of the King, a vital advisor, and administrator. His reign laid the foundation for the centralization of power in the Iron Throne, a theme that would persist throughout Westerosi history.
One of the most enduring legacies of Aegon's reign was the feudal system he implemented. The Seven Kingdoms were allowed to keep their distinct cultures and traditions, but they swore fealty to the Iron Throne. Lords pledged loyalty to the king and, in return, received titles, land, and responsibilities. This system of feudalism remained in place for centuries, shaping the political landscape of Westeros.
Aegon's dragons, Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes, were instrumental in maintaining his rule. They instilled fear in those who dared oppose him and allowed him to swiftly crush any rebellion. However, these dragons also had a significant impact on the environment. Their presence contributed to the decline of several species, including the extinction of the native Westerosi dragons.
Aegon's rule, characterized by relative stability, was cut short when he died in 37 AC. His death marked the end of an era, as his successors struggled to maintain the unity he had established. The Targaryen dynasty faced numerous challenges, including civil wars and external threats, which eventually led to the events depicted in George R.R. Martin's series.
In conclusion, Aegon the Conqueror was a transformative figure in the history of Westeros. His ability to unite a fractious land under a single banner and his innovative approach to governance left an indelible mark on the continent. His dragons, charisma, and vision for a just realm continue to be a subject of fascination and debate among scholars and fans of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. Aegon's legacy, both as a conqueror and a ruler, is a testament to the enduring power of leadership and the consequences of wielding such power.
5:45 Orrys Baratheon was more than his friend. He was Aegon's illegitimate half brother. That's why they say the modern day Baratheon's have blood of the dragon.

I want to see an Aegon the Conqueror story! BIG ONE over several seasons. Full story. All details! It puts all the Targaryens stories into context. btw, pls do continue the story 😁
How all of this amazing writing led to Tyrion making jokes about Varys not having his junk.
Its how some people deal with fear and everyone trembles before varys mighty gash.

Real talk though varys had some the absolute best dialogue
when the book of fire and blood said that there will be a prince who will fight death itself we can automatically assume it's jon snow. would love to see a series based on aegons conquest
Best one yet. Very informative.!
thanks biro, legendary content, it was a good refresher 🌱👑. Valar Morghulis 🧙🏼♂️

You did a good job on the video, although I have to say, I was a little perplexed when you said that lady Shara was only confused by her child sitting on visenyas lap. She was not confused. She was terrified. That was not visenya extending an olive branch, that was a straight-up threat, any parent would see it that way. That was a threat to her ability to protect her own son. And it was visenya sending her the message that if she wanted she could have torn her child apart before she even made it into the courtyard. The reason things didn't get violent is because lady Shara knew that it obviously wouldn't end well for her, which is what egg on wanted visenya to say in the first place. That was all threat my dude
Torren Stark knelt because his ancestors faced The Long Night and shared his dream to unite the kingdom and defeat the cold with fire.
Is it me or everyone they pictured in the video fits perfect for the show
"35. Can you imagine?"
That gives such great context to the size. Such a simple phrase, but very effective when delivered correctly.
That was so good, thank you.
Excellent video!! Keep up the good work!!👏🏻👏🏻
A movie with henry cavil as aegon the conqueror is what we need.
Having dragons was like a F18 jet being given to just Rome. Not just a military jet but one that doesn’t run out of ammunition
I really love the story of Aegon’s conquest! I truly hope there would come a series of it!

Love the whole story and Game of Thrones.
Great images! Whoever the guy is that you put up as Aegon the first they need to get going on that TV series because whoever that actor is fits the roll very well physically. I also vote for Henry Cavill If we can't get that guy. I mean we already know he looks fine with silver/white hair and has that strong jaw line that I picture on Aegon.
Looked kinda like Cavill tbh.
Im thinking these are AI rendered images.
I COULD be mistaken, but I think that it really is Henry Cavill as he appears in the series "The Witcher". But I'm with you guys, he makes a great Aegon

Lol, one more comment. I thought John Snow should have been the king at the end, and it would have been a terribly great ending. To see him on the Iron Throne while clearly not wanting it would have been devilish good, IMO.
Chris Hemsworth for Aegon Targaryen and Henry Cavill for Orys Baratheon

The Targaryens was the most powerful and troubled clan ever. Sick part is, they kept their clan going through incest. Married female's no less than 11 and 14. The fact that they couldn't last, is pretty sad in the Game Of Thrones continuity.
would love to see this play out on screen, make it happen, plzzzzz
I feel like charlie hunnam might be a good fit to play Aegon the conqueror.
He can't act though
He'd be too old
This was fun to listen to. I hate game of thrones tv show and don’t care at all for the books but the story told this way is interesting.
Anthony Hopkins as Harren the black would be amazing lol but Bradley Cooper as Oreys Baratheon…hell I’ll take it too bc it’ll either be great or terrible.
Everyone wants to see Henry Cavil as Aegon The Conqueror, but I’d rather see him play as Maegor The Cruel!
Imho the narration is sub-par but a good vid nonetheless!

@@etc8217 they did wipe out Dorne BUT they never CONQUERED Dorne. Dorne joined in peace through marriage Aegon never conquered Dorne.
I want a series on Old Valeria before the tragedy. The finale could be the catastrophic natural disaster and the Targaryens established in their new home and the start of their reign.
That’s not how the Lannister’s got casterly rock. Lord Casterly was killed along with his sons and Lann the clever won the castle. It wasn’t given to the lannisters.
This is the story we already know
Damn.. I wanted to watch this, but I can't stand the computer generated narration...
I always felt if Aegon himself went to Dorne instead of his sister he might have formed an agreement with the kingdom to leave them in peace if they agree to join him by not kneeling to him
"Unite the seven kingdoms to face the winter that is coming" 😵💫
Regarding Winterfell my guess would be that both Aegon & Bran Snow were visionary psychics. Love me some GoT, whatever era.
Is there a follow up video what explained what happened after the conquest?
Can u please talk more about the world of game of thrones outside of westeros?

And all. It takes is Arya fart to end the big threat 😅😂
I think you got your directions wrong. South-East is not called North-West as you seem to think. You've said North-West twice now when referring to the Western armies marching towards Kings Landing around 30:13-31:00
The first time is kind of ... weird but ok.. "The Western armies began to move North-West of Westeros" (ok they moved from the North-West I guess), but the second time I can't find a way to rationalize it. "Together they marched North-West."
Thought I was crazy
He look like Henry Cavill❤
i'm sorry but the little 3d flying dragon is so funny
Henry would look awesome as this role.
Dornish are badasses, they couldn’t conquer them even with dragons
they could have but aegon was grieving and gave up on it
@@etc8217 Shouldve surrounded and blockaded Dorne with ships and armies preventing them foods and supplies to starve them out. Dorne was just a dessert and would surrender

I wonder how true the story of Aegon's conquest is. Similar to the Raegar & Lyanna story. We only know what we're told but im sure its far more complicated. Is there any lore of Westeros pre Aegon?
We should’ve got “ The Dragons Conquest “

Henry Cavill as Aegon Targaryen will break the Internet.! 🔥🔥
True King Aegon
WHO is that man in the thumbnail? 😍
Orys baratheon should be played by Bradley cooper
But it was of Rheanyra's blood that the prince that was promised came to be?! So all long it was suppose to be her as the heir w/ damon blood or am i wrong?
I had always thought that Aegon The Conqueror had mainly took the 7 kingdoms to rule in order to place the Targaryen's at the top as the most powerful House in the world since the Targaryen's weren't even close to being the most powerful House in Valeria. The reason I thought that is because I hadn't read any of the books and it isn't really even talked about in Game of Thrones. I really want to read all of the books of A Song Of Ice and Fire, along with the 2 Fire & Blood books. I bought the first 5 books of ASOIAF, but haven't even opened the 1st book bc I am afraid of getting sucked into the books only to be left on the edge of my seat by the end of book 5, and book 6 still not being finished. The people at HBO have kept GRRM so busy that he lost his focus on finishing his ASOIAF series. It was bc of the fans curiosity of the Targaryen's and HBO people wanting more details about the Targaryen's that caused GRRM to put aside working on A Dream of Spring, to write a detailed history of House Targaryen which he did by writing 2 books of Fire and Blood. At this point, I don't believe that GRRM will ever finish ASOIAF. That is, not unless he is actually finishing both books before he releases book 6. As many years as it has been since he began writing book 6, he should have the entire series finished.
He did not finish Fire and Blood. Fire and Blood is finished after dance. The second needs to be written and it will cover reigns of Aegon 3 - Aerys 2.
Don't tell me those clips of Aegon and others are CGI/AI 😳😳
In a screen adaptation, I would like to see Aegon portrayed by either Henry Cavil or Michael Fassbender.
Why is everything AI/Computer voices now.. cant even listen to this
The end of Valyria is usually called the Doom.
This is an engrossing story but the question "why?" keeps pulling me out of it. Why would anyone think that they could defeat dragons? What exactly was the strategy of a conventional army against dragons? I'm not even sure why aegon brought along a conventional army when their three dragons could destroy 100,000 soldiers
