I’ve heard of that cake, but never had one. It looks really good! My family always had Texas sheet cake with lots of pecans in the icing for our birthday cake.

Hi Tammy, the hot water steeps the cocoa like tea, developing more chocolate flavor. It really does matter. Happy birthday to your newly legal party girl!

We always poured half of the mixed cake into the pan then put the pudding in. The other half goes over the pudding layer.

Believe it or not I still have the original recipe that came off the box of Pillsbury it was made from scratch and you also used one package of Pillsbury smooth and creamy chocolate fudge frosting mix. They don't make it anymore, I contacted Pillsbury and they sent me a little recipe card on how to make the frosting by scratch. I love watching your channel and have you several recipes from it. Have a wonderful week. Love from Florida

I remember reading about the history of this cake: It was invented by a lady from Minnesota who entered it in the Pillsbury Bake-Off. She won first place. The cake also made people across the US discover the bundt pan, which was kind of a regional cake pan only used in Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. It made bundt pans popular.

@Maria Roberts My Mom made it that way too in the 70s and 80s. From scratch and with walnuts and the box Pillsbury icing mix in it. It was awesome. She made it for my brother a lot too. Tammy’s looks delicious too.

Happy 21st Birthday to your Mae❣️🎂🎉 If you wanted the “tunnel of fudge” to be more in the middle of the cake, could you pour half the batter in the pan, spoon the pudding in the center, and then pour in the rest of the cake mix on top? Just wondering if that would work. Thanks💕

i did use a bundt pan that my grandmother had probably since the 1960's and the mixer she had for almost as long if not longer, although i do have a new kitchen aid i cannot bring myself to get rid of it

Can you make a boxed non-instant pudding for the pudding mix? Perhaps use vanilla. Thanks so much for the recipe.

I don't own a microwave. How would you make the pudding on the stove top? Maybe use a sauce pan on LOW and stir til thick?

Does it matter if I bring the water to a boil on the stove or the microwave? Ever since reading an article about heated liquid in the microwave exploding on people causing severe burns I’ve only boiled water on the stove. Something about the microwave easily getting water just past boiling into a superheated liquid without being obvious. The superheated liquid getting trapped under the surface tension of the water and exploding as soon as anything hits the surface.
