Idk if it was masterful aggro play. It wasn't loose by any stretch, but his lines seemed relatively obvious. The story of g1 was Josh only drawing 2 lands through turn 8 or whatever, much of that time having courser in play.
Although games 2/3 were mostly defined by Cifka's flood. That's the problem with heroic. It's basically a combo deck, and it needs all its pieces coming together to function.
"Cifka is setting up a big turn...", "Cifka also has very carefully engineered this board...", "Cifka has managed to build a big threat... still looking to go wide...", and more. They're doing pretty well, they discussed it, but the narrative of that game ceased to be about that and started to become about not hitting land every turn even with a Courser in play.
Steve Stamopz He "deserved" it in so far that the game has a heavy luck element involved, and he played well, engineered what he could to take advantage of that. Unequivocally if Layton had drawn land it doesn't matter much what Cifka had done, he would have lost.
Strive cards are a little weird, they aren't like most multikicker or x cost spells. You pay the extra cost for each target "beyond the first", not for each target.
KahosMaker No, it only checks if it has 3 counters on it when it attacks. If he declares the favored Hoplite as an attacker, it will get a 4th counter and then the Ordeal must be sacrificed. Read the text carefully. You can also read the rulings. The rulings make it very clear how the card works.
I really like how the commentators ignore Cifkas masterful aggro play, and instead focus on how poor leytons draws were.

Shane Heisser They were implying that Sifka didn't deserve the win IMO.

I wish they would show Cifka's hand every once in a while.
Junk-Rares seems just so fitting, besdes from basic lands, he has 2 non-rare cards: 1 Banishing Light, 1 Read the Bones.
12:30 why did he shuffle ordeal of purphoros back in his deck?
Unravel into aether
w8 how did he get 3 tokens with Launch the fleet with only 3 mana? I thought you could get 2 tokens maximum with 3 mana?

why he didn't sacrifice the ordeal in the first game?? i thought it was obligatory to sacrice it whenever you had 3 or more counters
You have to attack to trigger the effect from the ordeal.
Weeload No its when three counters are on it, it triggers

Like if you play with Maze's End. You still need to use the Maze's End's ability to win even if you had all the 10 gates.
he declared attack, and then used a spell and put a third counter after the declaration, is that why the trigger didn't happen??
Cifka played the Brimaz with two mountians and a plain? whats up with that
on the second game
If you look closely you see that it is a mountain, a plains and a temple of triumph.
oh, thanks
1 thing I've learned when playing against heroic decks: Kill it early, or it will kill you.
Now that's what I call Utter annihilation {:>_
