Wow, there is already a person who pointed out what exactly I thought! Yes. Tempura is definitely I can recommend to a foreign people who is beginner to Japanese food. Especially, the one you seat at the bar type table and chef serve you one by one straight from the pot. It’s not necessary super expensive one but you can find something around ¥5000-¥7000 for lunch. This is an experience something you never can try outside of Japan. (As Japanese who is living outside of japan, I have seen a lots of sushi restaurant with bar style seating but never for tempura) Also, Yakitori and Tonkatsu as well can be nice introductions for Japanese food.
I am Japanese who lived in US for 10 years, and I love cruncy bacon as well as soft grilled one. My ex boyfriend who was an Ameerican liked sunny side up egg 'EASY'.
Love Yakitori. Currently I’m living in Scotland and I miss Yakitori. But I’ve found how to cook Tori-Tsukune recently, it’s a big pleasure for me. Presumably, both of you have known Yakitori or Tsukune, such kind of street food is kind of God for average Japanese. 日本人ほど鶏肉を部位毎に美味しく繊細に食べる人はいないと思う。
I didn't realize so many "とろっとしている" food in Japan as you pointed out. That's also how a part of tuna is called "トロ". Seaweed such as Konbu, wakame and umibudou (Okinawa area-limited seaweed) are also slimy. BTW, my family put a little bit soy sauce on とろろ and mix and just eat it (more like drink).
Indeed We love nebaneba!! Natto,Totoro, Okura😂 it’s really tasty and good for your health. We can eat raw eggs in japan because it’s fresh and safe to eat.
As a Japanese, sweet rice porridge cocked with milk is one that I need to switch the way to think what rice is before eat it. Anyway I think mayonnaise on corn and corn on pizza are way better than pineapple on pizza (It is illegal even in some western countries afaik).
Poor Austin. I had the same thing back in 2020, right when everyone and everything shut down, well almost the same thing. I'm Japanese, been living in the US forever,, so, your Domino is my sushi. The night before everything was going to shut down, I knew I wasn't gonna be able to get sushi for a good while, so I went and got a $40 sushi take out. Little I knew,, or knew nothing at all,, I already had the COVID. And I didn't realize until I had the sushi, and didn't taste at all, no taste of soy source, no waste of wasabi, nothing. I was like "F**K, what's wrong with me????" You know, sushi isn't cheap here in the US, what an effing waste... Other than not being able to taste nor smell anything for a month, I didn't have any other symptoms, luckily. It was weird not smelling shampoo or body wash too.
I missed American Corn dogs because American dogs here are sucks. I miss American fruits and vegetable juice and I hate Japanese juice because they are wishy washy. I love American foods. Your conversation reminds me an Australian girl, who came to our agency. She said she hates Fish because of its texture. She never tried Sushi and etc. Maybe she don't like Japanese food. She didn't try many foods here.

I am a podcast fan. Could you upload recent episodes to the podcast channel?
thank you! so sorry for that. just added one and will release more this week.
What does “muses”mean in this conversation??? I searched on google but I couldn’t find best definition of it. Please tell me!!!
It is mucus not muses.
Mucus is a thick liquid that is produced in some parts of your body, for example the inside of your nose.

I didn't know it was so annoying to be criticized for our food by Americans. lol
We don't need any more simping from foreigners about Japan.
They didn't even criticize lol.
