This is just how it works, from channels my size all the way up to LTT and MKBHD. We get review units and loaners. Give our honest feedback on it and either make a dedicated review or feature it somehow in another video, but really there's usually no set obligation. The majority of the high value items get sent back. And lower value items like this aren't worth the cost to get back and sell as an open box. Sometimes companies let us keep items in hopes that we will use it again and other videos, but there's again never really any obligation. If a video is sponsored that means there is some sort of key talking points a company wants us to hit, set upload timelines, promotions or features that were required to demonstrate. These are clearly marked as sponsored such as my last webcam video. You are correct in that there is some value exchanged so I still check the little box saying that they're is some sort of promotional material in it.
if you've upgraded the ssd on the deck this looks like a good way to reuse that ssd that would of been in there from the get-go. have you tested if you can say boot Windows from that? as that'd be great if you can for faster system response times than off an SD Card.
I just got this (on Amazon now $48) and a Corsair MP600 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe x4 Gen4 ($89). It works great! Did you try flipping the cord 180 degrees? Mine did not work, and I pulled off and flipped it over. Came right up after that. Now, I just marked the side that needs to face the fan.
That looks pretty neat! Coming from a Asus Strix Arion full size M.2 enclosure, this is really tiny in comparison. And we start seeing huge capacities in this form factor now, same size SSD that fits in the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally. I might pick one up. That said, it's the first time I ever heard someone say "Repetitions Per Minute" for RPM lol. The acronym is for "Revolutions Per Minute", but I guess it's also acceptable to say "Rotations Per Minute".
thinking about using this with my iPhone 16 Pro Max for ProRes Apple Log 4K 120fps recording. Other's I've looked at have over heating issues so this sounds great, but where I plug it in to my iPhone is where the microphone is, will it pickup the fan noise?
Great video, i bought one for my steam deck, excited to use it, wish they had an option to support 4tb or higher.. bc 4tb drives will eventually come out
This totally not sponsored video doesn't mention how loud that tiny fan is. Which it is as was pointed out by other reviewers who were upfront about their videos being sponsored.
Would this be a good unraid boot drive? Can you get it without the actual M. 2 drive so you could use a 32g M. 2 drive which I believe is the max for unraid? Thanks
I mean the thing is worth like $80. Value isn't in the realm of being considered a sponsorship. If anything, there is a slight bias because I didn't purchase it.
@@TechHut Hey thanks for taking the time to reply :) The money isnt the issue tho. They sent this to you to review, you made a video of it. That video is a product that you profit from, wether thats directly financially or not doesnt even matter. Its a advantage to you, that you wouldnt have had if they had not sent it to you. That alone would already shift your bias towards, unwitting or not. And even if you need to send it back to them, you still benefited from this. But im not trying to single you out here, lots of tech UA-camrs sadly do this and are like "oh they didnt pay me any money" and completely missing the point. Oh and the $80 value would be for the empty case, right? Certainly not including a 2TB drive as you have displayed it.
I see what you're saying and you're right. Poor use of language on my part. I replied more detailed on kinda how I look at products getting sent like this in another comment. I think the case without an SSD is $39 at the moments. Still up there, but not to bad.
Just got mine and the speed is phenomenal. Should I remove the sticker from my SSD though before mounting it? The internet is a little hazy on it and their website video has the sticker removed, but I'm not sure if that's for a functional purpose or just not to have external branding.
This seems to be the first storage device with an actual write protection, write protection on an sd card is a suggestion and i always wished i could flash ventoy or something on it and just stop it from being written to
@@marcosramirez385 I thought my comment was pretty clear?, there is a toggle on the side that turns on write protection making the storage read only (im guessing i havent read documentation if there is any) While sdcard one is physicial (like some devices detect it and may respect it while most card readers dont care about it and ignore it

Even if he sends it back. But he isnt the only UA-camr who does it like this, and he wont be the last.

That would be useful for E2B.
Just get an m.2 usb enclosure, cheap and works. 🤣

It wasn't that loud for me. I have a db reader in the mail so I'm going to start including that stat in these videos.
Did you just say “libary”?
Has anyone had an issue with the SD brought with the Sharge Disk not appearing on their devices
Could you paint a dot on one of the fan blades and test how close the listed RPM's are to real world performance?
Are these reliable as a long term storage? I want to have one for my phone. Might as well use it for pc.

The ultimate USB flash drive is one that has a built-in cellular modem, allowing it to make voice calls.
LTE Broadband USB sticks with card readers built in exist, dunno why you'd need it but that's the closest option

Is the write protect switch actually legit or is it more like a sd card reader switch?
What is the USB/Thunderbolt spec on it?
USB 3.2 Gen 2
@TechHut Could you recommend a nvme ssd for that

Can u send me a link on which SSD u used for it ?
They need a v2 that supports up to the full 40gbps USB 4.0 spec
That might be hard to do in a small form factor, but I really hope they do that, since we do have 2230 SSDs that reach 5,000 Megabytes Per Second
Exactly
Does it come with a card in it?
Nope. U need to buy an actual separate ssd with it
