That sure is a beautiful place you have there. I love to see the scenery of all the farms. I love to hear you speak 'lamb' 🙂🙂 I am an old woman living in Southern California, USA and have no idea about farming of any kind. I watch to see the babies and I love to see the dogs work. I also like to try and help the new you tubers by liking and commenting.

What a video you made for us, That was fun! I'm sooo glad your sheep come with handle bars, its got to help matters a bit! I can guarantee that you're going to be having new subs scrambling in, you're doing a brilliant job 👏 👍. Questions: 1) I watched the podcast (I've seen all your videos) where y'all were talking about dog trials, any time frame? I'm sure we would love to see y'all do them! 2) Do the ewes not take care of the cleaning of the wee ones? 3) Have you tried bread sacks on your feet to keep them dry? Sounds odd but it works. 4) At what age do the wee ones get their own handle bars? 5) What type of ewe was it that you tied up in the trailer? She's beautiful! Sorry for all the questions, I'm just super interested and in love with sheep! Cheers from Texas ❣️

Thank you very much Sheila, glad you're enjoying it! Cammy is apparently organising a trial ao you'll have to talk to him about that lol. The young ones get handle bars within a couple of months, the ram lambs are actually born with little stumps, that's how you know them from the ewe lambs! The one tied in the trailer is a Mayo Blackface, which is our main breed. A little bit like the Scottish Blackfaces that you see in Cammy's videos, call them their Irish cousins. 😂🔥

Hi Karl, I’m new to your channel &, after watching a few vlogs, am now a new subscriber. Greetings from West Sussex, England. Well done for reaching that 1st milestone of 1k subbies 🎉🍾. Found you after watching your podcast with Cammy (The Sheep Game). So love your content & in such gorgeous countryside… you are truly blessed!! That was some catch & carry today boy & what a beautiful ewe!!! I understand that hill farming is really hard work but it’s so good to see the flock in natural surroundings & you shepherds being so committed to their health & welfare.. I appreciate you filming it for us to enjoy.. thank you so much. I was a bit disappointed that you didn’t show the lamb next to you in your cab & also it would have been great to see you reunite it with its’ mother (in the shed out of that awful weather)& the treatment that you gave. You explained it all really well but, for us viewers, you can’t beat actually seeing the sheep that you are talking about. It was a bit like a story without an ending. Did you get her back without her causing you any problems? How is the lamb doing? Please don’t take any part of my comments as criticism, but rather it’s constructive feedback to hopefully help you in choosing your content as you grow your wonderful channel 😁. Another quick question; with your method of farming, are there many ewes & lambs that need bringing in to the shed for feeding help \ treatment over your lambing season? Would love to see in the pens as we get a good close up look at the sheep & lambs. You have a wonderful healthy looking flock there!! Keep your vids coming…. I’m so looking forward to the next one!!! xx

      Joy, thank you for subscribing!
That is brilliant feedback, you're dead right. I should've showed them reunited! You'll be glad to hear that they are and doing brilliant here up at home. I did put up an instagram story of them the next day, instagram can be handy for filling in the gaps sometimes. You should follow me on that @eweknitireland! I'll get some footage of them for a later vlog maybe, they're only 2 minutes away from the house as I'm writing this.
To answer your question, mainly only ill sheep and to adopt lambs onto ewes. We've only about 2 pens and 1 outside in the garden and that has done us throughout lambing 1000 sheep somehow. 😂
Since i'm taking this vlogging craic more seriously, I think I'll put more time and effort into the setup for next year!
Thank you so much for the feedback, for the kind words and for subscribing again Joy! 😊

what a work out its not easy running after a horney ewe in that rugged terrain .its a lovely view of the hills but the rain and wind is torture . and its takes a man with devotion to what is best at .keep up the videos and the sheep love it.

Catching that sheep at the end was incredible! Thanks to you and Casey the lamb and ewe will be reunited. Great job! If that wasn’t impressive enough, you carried that ewe on your back all the way back to your truck! Amazing! Hope we get to see that pair again. You sir, have a new subscriber. 👍 Thanks for sharing!!!

Lisa, Thanks a million for the kind words! I'm going recording again tomorrow and I will record her and the lamb, they're doing very well!
We have 1000 sheep lambing and it's a chaotic time so sometimes I forget to report on sheep that were in past vlogs and let people know how they are doing!
Thanks again for commenting and subscribing!

Going back 30 years but Charolais were too soft when born so moved onto the Texels though I don’t think there was much between them and the Suffolks apart from using gimmers as replacements…

    • @EweTubeIreland
      @EweTubeIreland  2 роки тому +1

Interesting John. I wouldn't count them too hardy either and I think the lack of wool comes against them for outdoor lambing in bad weather!
Texel lambs are the best to get up and suck out of those 3 breeds in my experience, but they can be solid lambs and there is a danger of them getting hung or smothered, whereas most Charollais rams are pretty easy lambed from what I see!
      Pro's and cons to both!

If you didn't love it you wouldn't do it. You've managed to make another sheep video...entertaining and educational. I appreciate your hard work. No wonder your countrymen and Scots settled here (when the British did what they did). I love these hairy hilltops and smoke rising from rivulets. Your fields are beautiful and wiiiiild and windy. The wind reminds me of Lakeshore Drive in Chicago, no lambs, just hookers.

You are very knowledgeable about sheep 🐑, and their care. Good work. Hi from Texas.
