- Coastal-dwelling humans, once evolved to a lucid state, didn’t take long to make their way into the world of waveriding. And eventually, from surfing, skateboarding was born. The two are innately connected; when the surf was flat, you picked up your skate. It was that simple… until it wasn’t. Somewhere during the era of JNCO Jeans, pooka shells and hammer pants, the relationship was sadly bastardised. “It’s funny, as a kid I grew up surfing and skating,” says Curren Caples. “Kids that skated would always be like, why do you surf? That’s so stupid. But now it seems a lot of people are doing both.”

+Wilson Turner I Don't think it is underrated. People talk about his style all the time. I like curren, but for me his style is almost too smooth to the point that some of his tricks look easy and less impressive or possibly even boring. Some times when somebody barely holds on to a trick it seems more exciting.

people think oh why doesnt he become a pro surfer, being pro means alot of work and going to events, competitions and shit, he just wants to have fun and do what he loves and thats why i respect him so much

Not game over. He would need to pull into a clean barrel section , followed by a back three then end off with a floaty, check turn, or roundhouse chunk. Julian Wilson Gabriel medina John John etc do that in comps. It's becoming a normal format to boost. Now you gotta combine it. Lol surfings progression has been exciting for me to watch for the last 16 years

Your skater friends who're giving you shit about surfing, they're just jealous because they can't do both due to the fact they're not good swimmers &/or not comfortable being in the scary 1-2' crashing surf.
George Kafiridis you're ignorant if you say skating is the hardest. Literally no timing aspect or real danger added at all. I do all three so I think I'd know. Same with curren, and I doubt you've even paddled out to a crowded 6 foot line up. Navigating the ocean alone is harder than skateboarding. "everyone knows that"
