      I do the same. My old stylist trimmed my hair every 6-8 wks. I wasn't retaining any length!! My new stylist is on the new timetable and my hair is healthy and longer than it has ever been. I say do what works for you. If the goal is length retention 6-8 wks is not for you.

    I have waste length hair and I trim it myself every 4 to 8 weeks because when it starts to get really stringy it bothers me, so I trim it with hair cutting scissors ✂️ that I have. I definitely need a professional hair trim /cut so it's even all over or back in layers. I have naturally wavy curly hair. BTW Janay you always do a beautiful job 🤩😍 and your client's always look happy when you're done with them. Blessings 🙌 to you.

    I suffer from traction alopecia. The lower back of my hair looks like I shaved it. I’m considering cutting of the rest . Really don’t want to. It’s just very disappointing as a woman I can’t do the styles I’d like or put it in a ponytail 😢 I’m looking for a regiment for growth

    Well trimming every 3 months will definitely keep your hair healthy and at the same length. I guess it depends on if you have want longer hair, and how you care for your hair. Many people do not want longer hair. My hair is just about as long as the lady in this video; and I only trim 3 times a year. I also only flat iron my natural hair maybe 3-4 times a year, if at all; so I have less damage and split ends. This is the first time I have seen hair growth beyond my shoulders since I stopped trimming. I now realize my hair only grows 1/4 of an inch a month. When the hair is trimmed, 1-2 inches if not more is usually trimmed off. How am I suppose to grow hair after getting regular trims every 3 months if my hair only grows 1/4 a month? It’s not for my hair; but this young lady’s hair is beautiful.

    • @JanayMickles
      @JanayMickles  5 місяців тому +9

      Trimming your hair every 3 months will not keep it at the same length. Most of my clients goals are to grow their hair longer. When getting consistent trims your aren’t cutting 1-2 inches off your cutting way less because of getting those consistent trims. Now going a while without a trim that’s where your having to cut inches. It also depends on the stylist your going to. If they aren’t cutting enough the split ends are still there so when you go back they probably are cutting off more. Thank you for your comment! ❤️

    • @shawn-hillaryschwartz2060
      @shawn-hillaryschwartz2060 4 місяці тому +2

      I totally agree with you. There is a difference between “Split Ends” and “Uneven Ends”. Hair does not growth at the same rate all over the head, and one head of hair may have several different textures resulting in uneven hair. Granted regularly trimmed hair looks more esthetically appealing, but you ARE reducing the length of your hair. The average person usually grows 6 inches of hair per year. So, if you “trim” .5 inch to one inch every four months…1.5-3 inches oh hair per year…up to half of your growth. At the end of the day…personal preference. The model’s hair looks AMAZING, though.

    I trim at home. I follow deeper than hair tv’s hair trimming tutorial. Lately I’ve had to trim my hair almost every two weeks. I wonder if my shears are not sharp enough. I have type 4 tightly coiled fine hair that is extremely prone to single strand knots and split ends 😭😭 so exhausting. I wish I could find a stylist in the dmv who properly cared for kinky coily natural hair.

    I trim as needed. No special schedule. I like a certain shape. Plus, its easy because my hair is a looser hair type. A loose wave and if I'm lucky for the day curls on the ends.
    Except the top layer straight to a point or spike from a loose wave. The back is curlier and around the ears and neck. I got what Yah gave me.😊 I'm happy with it.

    You're such an encouragement! I got up the nerve to dye my hair black a couple days ago and it turned out so beautiful. I've got to try the silk elements though. I had a catastrophe from using henna to dye my hair. My hair broke off so bad and after much care it was ready to be dyed again. How often do you flat iron your hair? I'm ready to go through the heat training process. I pressed my hair and it was beautiful but I think I have to find a professional in the DMV😊

Let them split ends go, it will grow back, I look for every instance to trim my hair because I’ve witnessed first hand with proper maintenance extreme hair growth!
