  • I scavenged this cash reader out of an old arcade machine and with a little bit of tinkering, I got it reading reliably and sending the data to an Arduino.
The model I'm using is the ICT BL-700-USD4
Here is the very simple code that got it working. This will need to be tweaked if you're reading other bill types.

which pins on the acceptor are the ones for the pulse output? What are they named on the schematic.PLEASE HELP!

I don't have mine in front of me, but I think they were labeled.

i wish you had a 110 volt version of this.I wanted to know how i can disable it after a bill is accepted until my sketch is done.I wouldn't know where to look for the type of disable like you did with the 5 vdc on yours. What is that 5vdc disable labeled as on the 24 volt?(5:10)

I didn't know they made a 110v version. The 5vdc disabled is basically a way you can turn the bill receiver off. So in other words, if you're in the middle of booting up, you can send 5v to the bill collector so it won't accept bills until you're ready.

For research purposes:How easy would it be to fool one of these bill readers into thinking is accepting money? Again just for research purposes

haha well from the outside, it's really difficult. If you just wanted to make it so it could accept monopoly money, you can definitely do that on the inside.

which pin on the acceptor (what is it labeled or decribed) for the 5 volt refusal?

Mine had black and red wires for power.

Awesome vid. So what would you need to make it give back change?

    • @AnotherMaker
      @AnotherMaker  3 роки тому

Generally those change things do 1 ping per quarter just like this one does, so I'm guessing it would be some simple math to put those clicks back.

Cool toy. 8000 pulses seems like an awful lot of pulses for one bill. Is that output from a rotary encoder as the money passes through? or is it sending a "beep"?

Sorry. I missed this comment. I need to do a firmware update on the device or find some older cash because it can't read the big face bills. So basically I just used that number because it always triggered on a successful read and never on a failed read. Since it only reads $1 bills, that was good enough for my purposes. I still need to do more tinkering though.

Do this one works with different currencies like Arabian Dirham?

You would have to change the firmware. They offer lots of firmware updates for this thing to do different currencies

Can you post a link to the firmware updates?

They're not free. You'd have to buy the firmware from ebay. I also feel like it's a chip swap if I remember correctly.
