Cuando tenía 4 o 5 años miraba esta peli y terminaba llorando... Ahora que tengo 30 y hasta hace un tiempo no recordaba la trama y solo la se porque leí el argumento (aunque no dice mucho)... me pregunto si la historia era tan traumante para mi corta edad y mi amor a los animales que mi cerebro la bloqueó.. de lo contrario nunca entendí porqué cuando recordé el nombre Chatrán me puse triste y me negaba a volver a verla sin recordar porqué me dejba llorando... Ahora en plena cuarentena se me dio por querer verla y acá estoy decidiendo si arriesgarme a quedar con ese boom en el pecho nuevamente o si el haber crecido me hará verla de otra manera... @@naat0101 La realidad es que tu no viste la versión original de la película, sino una reedición hecha en EEUU. La película japonesa es hermosa y poética. Mientras que la reedición norteamericana saca toda la poesía y busca darle más "aventura". Como "peligro". Ejemplo, la escena que Chatrán camina por las vías de un tren. En la versión norteamericana, gracias a la edición y a la música, hacen creer que está en peligro de ser pisado por el tren. Viendo la versión japonesa, que pude conseguir online, ves al gato caminando. Luego, cuando se va, pasa lentamente un tren. Dos mentalidades de película completamente diferentes.
Los rumores los comenzaron grupos australianos. Probablemente luego de ver la re-edición norteamericana de la película, completamente diferente a la versión japonesa. De hecho Australia le tiene bronca a Japón. Todo político... Solo con ver este pequeño making puedes ver que el director es un amante de los animales.

Regardless of what debates about this movie, it was my first favorite film in childhood. I grew up having a natural attraction to Japanese culture, films, cartoons, etc. I used to cry when the VCR messed up my copy. I really do hope they didn't treat the animals poorly, cause it was a great film! Thank goodness modern animation and film editing makes movie production safer for animals and humans alike!

It's nice to see some behind-the-scenes footage of Masanori Hata and his crew directing the animals, however brief the footage. I know everyone complains about the alleged animal cruelty used to make this movie, but whenever I watch The Adventures of Milo and Otis, I get so caught up in Dudley Moore's narration and Mark Saltzman's great screenwriting that whatever it took to make the movie becomes irrelevant.

En la versión americana (Milo y Otis) las escenas están cortadas y se agregaron otras que en la película original no estan. Tampoco tiene sonido ambiente, hay un locutor relatando la historia. Todo eso le quita realismo a la película y género los rumores. En la película original participaron 18 entrenadores de animales.

Stop assuming you understand how animals feel from just the noises. Dogs can also be trained to act angry and stuff, thats how they make the movies, it doesnt mean they are being provoked. No, it was a biased myth made by some dumb speculators from Australia when the second version of this film was realeased in 1989 (Known as Milo & Otis) for the international audience. That version removed most of the beautyness, art and plot continuity badly making all mess. Main argument was that no PETA or any other animal protecion association "aproval" was found in the making, but why ? Simple, Masanori Hata (RIP) whom directed this film was a zoologist and distinguished personality of Japan created the project at his private farmland using his own animals and help of other filmmaking producers such as Kon Ichikawa independently, being an expert already certified. The crew worked extensevely and no animal was killed or hurt. I don't know how animal usage laws where back in the day, but such acusations where never proved.

The place where this movie was shot is in the Kushiro (釧路) Nemuro region (根室地方) of Hokkaido (北海道), Japan.
The Nemuro region is blessed with nature, and when traveling in the summer it is so cool that it does not require air conditioning.

実際の所、真実はわかりませんが当時の週刊誌等ではかなり虐待と騒がれていました。ただし、週刊誌レベルの情報ですので、結局わかりません。しかし今の時代の感覚から言うと、例えば崖からチャトランが飛び降りるシーンは、私個人的にも完全アウトだと思います。この時代の表現方法は動物だけではなく今の時代の価値観からすればありえないことかもしれませんが、当時の価値観からすればそこまで過剰反応する時代ではなかったのかと思います。

@@AndresFG169Te recomiendo que mires la película original (Las aventuras de Chatrán) que tiene sonido ambiente y las escenas completas.
En la versión americana (Milo y Otis) las escenas están cortadas y se agregaron otras que en la película original no estan. Tampoco tiene sonido ambiente, hay un locutor relatando la historia. Todo eso le quita realismo a la película y género los rumores.
En la película original participaron 18 entrenadores de animales.

Stop assuming you understand how animals feel from just the noises. Dogs can also be trained to act angry and stuff, thats how they make the movies, it doesnt mean they are being provoked. Also check the stripes and spots on the cat, its always the same marks, its always the same cat.....even when he was a kitten. Cats dont change colour when they grow up either.

No, it was a biased myth made by some dumb speculators from Australia when the second version of this film was realeased in 1989 (Known as Milo & Otis) for the international audience. That version removed most of the beautyness, art and plot continuity badly making all mess. Main argument was that no PETA or any other animal protecion association "aproval" was found in the making, but why ? Simple, Masanori Hata (RIP) whom directed this film was a zoologist and distinguished personality of Japan created the project at his private farmland using his own animals and help of other filmmaking producers such as Kon Ichikawa independently, being an expert already certified. The crew worked extensevely and no animal was killed or hurt. I don't know how animal usage laws where back in the day, but such acusations where never proved.
