Surprised at how few followers of this channel. One of the best narrators who uncovers most of the details amd great story stelling of history. Also graphical showcases systemically for understanding. Thanks Thea.
a recommendation for viewing the city from high up (like TOTR). go just before sunset so you can experience the city changing light and lights. it is spectacular
Great video, as always! That camel in the Radio City Christmas show comes up to the stage via an elevator. There are seven stories BELOW ground level underneath Radio City Music Hall, and the animals in the show are kept there. The U.S. Navy was inspired by the elevator-to-stage solution created by Radio City Music Hall, ang it incorporated that mechanism into the aircraft carriers, in order to store and retrieve aircraft that would otherwise crowd the deck.
OMG I love your videos so much! I am going to NYC soon and I'm beyond excited. Your videos are so helpful and I am beyond grateful for them. You're alleviating all the stress and anxiety of navigating New York and I am so excited to see everything and experience it! Thank you for everything you're doing amazing work!!!
I love the way you organize your videos, talking about history and giving context first to then explain the area. FYI I'm binge-watching your videos to prepare for my trip to NYC! 😂😍
Great video and information, we spent a lot of time there and around it. The church is unlike anything I have seen. We watched Mrs. Obama at the Sak’s lights event. Watched the Macy’s parade from there as well.
Taste the rainbow! When I did the Radio City Music Hall tour in 2005, I'm sure they said that a real live elephant had been used in a show years ago lol! I love the info and graphics you give us - you deserve so many more subscribers.
Interesting stuff, I appreciate your channel and the insight, info and historical background. Perfect timing, altering being here in NYC for the first time. I hope to make it back soon enough!
Second visits are awesome. I feel the first visit is for the classic bucket-list items and the second visit for more off--the-beaten-path type of things to do.
@@UrbanCaffeine we had planned to come last year for our 25th anniversary but "stuff happened". It was definitely worth it even though it was the only time it rained during our stay but never mind.
Hi Thea, I'm rewatching some of your videos in preparation for my trip. Could I please pick your brains? I want to pre-book my visit to the Top Of The Rock for sunset, as I've previously been up there during the daytime and I would like to get sunset and after dark views this time. I will be there in 4 weeks time, I've googled NYC sunset time for mid July and it is saying approx 8.25pm which seems a bit early to me (it is currently light here until 10pm, although we are further north) What would your advice be as to a good entry time?
Hi! Yes, 8.30ish sounds about right for summer in New York. It might be how the planet tilts so it's earlier here. Good luck! I hope you enjoy the sunset. If you can, check the weather. 😊
On the face of it it looks like a’must visit’ observation deck for New York but with the other places that have since been built it’s a tough choice. I’m still planning on going there though thanks Thea. 🤗👍🏻😉
You are a UA-camr. But, what to make enough money to be able to afford is your REAL job? What do you do for a living to be able to afford living in NYC? You UA-camrs cease to amaze me!!!
Before YouTubing I was a user interface designer. My NY salary allowed me to save up and do this gig full time. I don't think I would be able to create videos like these without fully committing all my time. In general, New York is little bit its own bubble. Cost of living is high, but so is the average income for most professions. I feel the secret is avoiding lifestyle creep.
Gracias Thea. Mi esposo y yo vamos a visitar NY por primera vez en septiembre y tus videos nos están ayudando mucho. Saludos desde Vancouver Canadá 🇨🇦

Amazing and informative review. This is how a review should be done. You can’t imagine how happy I was when that noisy opera signer left in 1929😂

That Christmas is so iconic that people would make a trip just to see that tree!
Yeah it's a pretty nice thing to see during the holidays but only on weekdays where there are not a lot of people. lol.
Waste of time! Over rated!, too many peoply
Wow, Thea, I discovered you just now and I am impressed. Greetings from Poland
This was awesome. Hope you do one on the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building
Yes I was thinking that . Im from U.K. and visited the E.S.B in 2008 unforgettable experience.
There are some very cool pictures showing the El in front of the building.
You must be a school teacher. Your explanations are very easy to follow. Congrats
What a great video, loved it. Such interesting information and history. Really admire your work.
That was awesome! I learned a ton from this video.
Amazing video! Vast and very interesting explanation. Thank you!
Wonderful history of Rockefeller Center 👍 Thanks for telling us all about Rockefeller Center Thea 😊 I made it all the way to hit the liked button 😎👍
Great video, Thea, I like going to Rocerfeller Center to people watch
What a great place to people watch! I didn't even think of that, especially since there are a lot of areas to sit.
I’ve been there many times but didn’t know the history. Love your videos!
Thank you! I've been watching 30 Rock lately and I'm picking up so many nuances since making this video.
Amazing! Thanks for teaching me so much about a place I walk by everyday for work, absolutely clueless about the history of it!
Thanks for watching! 😊
Nice presentation, I learned a lot.
Thank you for watching 😊
I love the story!
Thank you, Thea! Taste the Rainbow!
Learned so much from this vid. Thank you!
I've only ever accessed Top of the Rock from the basement concourse since I took the Subway to get there.
Nice and informative video. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!

That area is a popular spot to visit for good reason. Happy you had a great time!
Wonderful video and taste the rainbow lol
High five 🖐 Thank you!
Great video! Keep up the good work 😊
wow! so nice to know the story behind all those buildings! do they charge for the going up to the top of the rock?
Hey there. Yes, I think it's $40. All the observatories are about that price nowadays.
the best place in NYC. I agree with you about the observatory. it' an open air site unlike many other where you feel you are in an acquarium.
Yeah and the others feel more crowded too.
GrGreat vid thank youeat vid thank

An elephant? Wow that's insane. Thanks for watching!
@@UrbanCaffeine Yes I seem to remember them saying they used the goods lift (sorry elevator) to move him around the building

Very good channel, very informative and with a very nice feminine touch.
Experienced it for myself two weeks ago, we booked Top Of The Rock for our anniversary present to each other.
What a nice idea for an anniversary! Hope you had a good time.

we agree about the view at top of the rock. It's the best. No windows for the win!
I didn't expect much going up there, but it's actually really nice.
nice! who is doing your graphics?
Hi there. I do them myself. It's a bit time consuming but gratifying.
@@UrbanCaffeine i can image! looking good
There's now a restaurant there called "The Elgin" on 48th between 5th and 6th

I have yet to visit One Vanderbilt. The photos look amazing. So far I've been to One World, The Edge, and Empire State.
Fascinating so informative in a very well presented format thank you 🙏 loved the history 👌
So nice of you. Thanks!
Read Daniel Okrent's book Great Fortune for more details on this subject.
When we were there in August, the skating rink area looked like it was under the knife for a huge development. what was that about?
The concourse underground is currently under construction right now. Maybe they were making improvements to the plaza in the summer.
It also has a Subway station. Taste the Rainbow!
☀ Taste 💧 the 🌈
Thanks for the nice video. I followed it with an open Google Street View.

Hallo Rockefeller Center!
It's not THE Rockefeller Center, just Rockefeller Center... no native calls it THE
It's not a holiday tree, it's a Christmas tree. It's not for the holidays, it's for the Christmas season.

Holiday Tree? What the hell is that?
It's the "politically correct" term for Christmas Tree. Since Rockefeller Center refers to it as a Christmas Tree, so should she.
In front of Today Show's studio was the Nintendo NYC (former The Pokémon Center NYC/ Nintendo World NYC)
