Great stuff! A couple things you said took me back to my childhood. Like the knife edge kick, I still use that analogy sometimes lol. It’s truly amazing that a master instructor of your caliber would take the time and energy to shoot a video like this, because one person asked! I hope your students over there appreciate you and the value of the service they are getting! Thank you sir!
Thank you for your comment! Too many watch and don't. The like button also really helps in getting our industry (yes! it IS an industry) more exposure to the general population. Without their participation martial arts would fade away.
@@ryukyu-kenpoI don't wanna harp on your style because I practice a different one, I just want to understand a little better why you'd choose to land forward instead of avoiding a punch or giving distance from a kick or something
You do ask a very good question. The reason can be considered in two ways. (Remember, this is a drill) First, I want them to practice putting their body weight behind their kicks so they don't bounce back with the impact, but rather deliver as much power into the target as they can with the kick. Second, I want them to know and be able to handle what happens when they do miss the target. True, you do 'blunder' forward but this prepares them for this possibility and not to be distracted when it occurs and to be able to continue the attack or mount a defense. I hope this explains it. Normally they kick a heavy (100 kilos or more) bag or our outdoor kicking posts (that do not move). Here, they are kicking the air that does not absorb the impact.
@ryukyu-kenpo Fair enough. So let's assume for a second that the kick misses and your in a vulnerable spot for a second, what would be your next course of action? I'd love to know your input on some defense
Thank you very much Sensei!!!
You are welcome!😊

Please continue with more videos, I love the way you teach and with a great sense of humor.
Excellent videos. Thank you.
So nice of you
That cat stance is gonna get you killed
Why? What is wrong with it?
Why do you step forward after you kick with it? You're throwing yourself in the line of fire. I will admit your naihanchin stance is good tho
