RIP Jim. I'm sorry for your loss Dave. Jim had so much knowledge about lapidary and the mineral world. I learned a good bit from him through your videos. Thanks for uploading this, I had no idea.
What a wonderful episode of information Dave, many Thanks to "Jim". I felt like a sponge trying to soak up as much information I could glean off as possible!
I have been a mineral collector my entire life, well since I was in grammar school. I am 78 now . I have always loved the beauty of Fire Agate. I have a fabulous collection, but I do not have any specimins of f- agate. I used to go to the Tuscon mineral show every year. I never ran into any specimins , mainly because I have always been into raw minerals and crystal specimins. Love the colors that it displayes . Maby some day. Crazy, you look just like my younger brother! Lol. Love your work!
Been out of the video world for a while, sad to hear about Jim. This was a great video and you did him justice. Someone recently asked me about fire agate and i dug out my container and now i have to cut some again. Thanks Dave.
Thank you Sweet Jim and Dave. I've been sitting on a few fire agates for way too long, and this is great information and inspiration to get cracking on those.
Great video. So good to see Jim. I know this one was hard for you to release but it’s a great tribute to a wonderful human. Now I do think Ghost Fire is a great band name. Thanks again
I just realized Jim is no longer with us. So Sorry. He was clearly a wonderful person to know. Folks that are willing to share their knowledge for the sole purpose of helping others are a rare gem.
Thanks again Dave. This video is just what I'm looking for. I just got a flex grinder and I need to know this stiff. I'm not working with fire agate but this info is priceless.
I didn’t know we ( lapidary world ) lost him. I wish I could have chatted with him. Sorry for the loss Dave! Does he have a channel? How much pressure did he apply when using the AZDENT burs?
@@lapidarydave it’s funny because I recently got into fire agates. I am a huge agate person atm but to sit around and carve with this man would have been enough.
I am so sorry Dave, I did not know Sweet Jim had pass it is a loss that will never be replaced. He was an icon and I will miss his prescence in your videos. I will keep his videos in my library and watch them again and again.
sorry to see he's gone, I was really digging his carving. I am passed the beginner stage and have gotten where, I am a really good carver. So I have 3 question. Where do you get quality raw fire agate to carve, how do you price your work (chart maybe), and how do you find a market for you completed cabs.
Dang. Such a nice and talented man,.....RIP, Jim... Dave, I need someone to cut a bunch of abalone on shares....can you recommend anyone for me? If it helps, Im just north of Sacramento.
It’s all about pulling out the color. The color bars are fractions of the millimeter thick tumbling would definitely maintain the shape, but it’s not really about the shape. It’s the different colors underneath each other.

I get my material from source fr the miners The more hands it goes through the price double with every person especially with Mexican material I get them at Gemshow really you have to look at them in person photos will make them look too good Pricing is even harder than sourcing good material for a fair price. I just like people trying to sell online making their pieces. Look at Best Buy particular angles, fire, agate, pricing and sales is tough because they are only going to post good videos that good angles so your best bet is to price your material off of videos that you see online Facebook groups tend to be the best for pricing And you would bark at the ad shows or online putting them out to sell is the easy part selling them is the hard part they are literally two days in a three days and Fire Agate 10 days at the largest shows in America, Denver, Quartzsite, and Tucson your best bet is to market them at smaller trade shows and most people don’t wanna buy a 1 inch $400 rock no matter what it looks like so you’re gonna have to get him and Jewelry to really get the most out of Them
Jim was a national treasure, thank you for sharing his precious moments and knowledge! ❤
thanks for watching brother

Really good video Dave
Hi . nice workshop
sorry to see he's gone, I was really digging his carving. I am passed the beginner stage and have gotten where, I am a really good carver. So I have 3 question. Nope they are there just look a bit harder if they’re on eBay, not on Amazon
I did find most of them
Jim was a real one
Спасибо, что вы показали как обрабатывать эти замечательные камни
I am trying to understand “ ghost fire “ is it color that’s pretending to be color or is it before the color and tells you how much color?
nope it’s just the very last of the colorbars and can’t be peeled for find other colors
Jim was one in a trillion.
One more thing Dave where can I Get the rubber dimond used by your friend, do you have the link of Amazone? 🤔 please🙏
I don’t have a link but it’s on eBay
Dang. Such a nice and talented man,.....RIP, Jim...
Dave, I need someone to cut a bunch of abalone on shares....can you recommend anyone for me? If it helps, Im just north of Sacramento.
armondo customer cutters does a cutting service probably one of the best around
Nice video! Where can I purchase the premium and the less expensive sanding wheels?
Ebay
@lapidarydave I looked and did not see AZdent wheels there😳 I'll try again
Nice!
Dave,do you have the Amazon link for the Azdent rubber wheels? I couldn't find them.
eBay not Amazon unfortunately I don’t have link
@@lapidarydave ok
RIP Jim.
Are the big hunks of chalcedony worthless? Or can you cab/ polish that?
They’re not worthless they just don’t have the color that people are looking for
Sweet Jim 😢
❤❤❤❤❤
🙏🙏🙏
How can we buy if were in another country?

Taken way too soon.
Condolences to everyone from everyone at Gofer Prospecting.
This is the first video I met Jim and was so excited because I actually understood how he explained things…. 😢😢 I’m so sorry!
TFS!
Couldn't you just tumble these if you're keeping the original shape?
It’s all about pulling out the color. The color bars are fractions of the millimeter thick tumbling would definitely maintain the shape, but it’s not really about the shape. It’s the different colors underneath each other.
@@lapidarydave aah you have to have a good eye and patience to do that for each one!
