It gets the better of him in the end, though. In fact, I think he played the same in classical as well...or at least in the couple of games I watched him play in Reykjavik Open 2017.
I haven't played Blitz OTB before with a crowd this way. It's interesting how you can hear a room full of pieces and clock buttons until that changes about 5 minutes in, to people walking around and murmuring.
Something tells me that if you grew up in such an environment as a kid, playing OTB, it would come as if second nature. But some people function just fine. It can even be therapeutic, like you’re at “home” or your “habitat”. I might as well be talking out of my arse but it just feels that way.
black baits e5 from white then plans for a c5 pawn break. danya realizes his knight is misplaced on c3, as the d pawn needs more support before black can play c5. common idea for this structure (also seen from caro and french).
99% of time its obvious to a gm whether the player who offers there hand is lost in the position so nothing needs to be said. If they are unsure they do ask
I can tell it’s obvious to the players and looking at the positions it’s easy to say why a player resigned I ask because of the formalities of chess and if ever an arbiter were needed say if one player says another player resigned and the other player is saying the other player resigned I just wonder what the protocols are/ would be
Interesting how well I could follow this game, half the game they were fighting for d5 square and then when it was shut down with c6 Danya changed plans. After a move like c6 I would be flustered as to what to fight for next. I suppose I would've gone for f4 f5
@@fanouzhang3887 Recently passed 1500 FIDE, but I plateaud at 1400 for several years, hence my comment. I was so surprised I could suddenly follow a game like this, that I wrote it without realizing how arrogant and pompous it sounds 😂
1 ... b6 against one of the world's best blitz players? ... Daniel is thoroughly prepared for that. ... As the song says: "Play something sweet. Play something mellow ... "
Aman transposed into a French which means he's gonna play c5, and daniel wants to be able to play c3, which means he has to move his knight out of the way. B1 is the best square because it doesn't strand the knight. Instead aman decides to trade off the French bishop which allows daniel time to strike with c4 first. The problem with aman playing like this is that it's a French but he's just down a couple tempo from bringing his knight back and playing bishop b7. daniel can more than afford to waste a tempo with his knight
Was Danya’s backwards knight move at 1:05 just him being polite in response to Aman’s knight being pushed back, or did that serve some purpose in the game?
To add to what Ivan said, black's next move is c5 which has the double threat of shattering white's centre trapping the bishop on d3 . White moving his c pawn solves both, hence the knight retreat
Did Danya un-develop his Knight out of good sportsmanship? After that e5 push, Aman undeveloped his Knight and seemed unhappy about it, then Danya did the same. Then it looked like Hambleton nodded in approval. Is there some GM level theory that I don't know about or was that an unspoken gentleman's agreement? Edit: A few moves later, Naroditsky plays c4, which wouldn't have been possible with the Knight still on c3.
Danya develops exactly how I think about developing but in my dreams
Aman's time management is always so stressful to watch
yeah fr
It gets the better of him in the end, though. In fact, I think he played the same in classical as well...or at least in the couple of games I watched him play in Reykjavik Open 2017.
yeah. I remember watching one of his classical games where he had like less than 20 minutes while his opponent had an hour+ lol
I know it’s his style, but it can’t be good for him
Almost like it's on purpose. Imo, he needs that adrenaline providing by being low on time
really cool seeing the prophet and chessbrah going at it
Danya is such a monster at blitz
As good as he is we all know he isn't even in top 5 blitz players
Are you in the top 10000?
@@kilzoldyck5114 He may very well be top 5 in 3:0 blitz. You having the audacity to come with such a statement tells a lot about your character
@@sigurdh.s8320 no he's not

You can see my Ugg boots in the corner lol. So exciting watching Danya play. Also got to meet him, such a nice guy
Definitely added value to the video, nice boots
You can see me too, I am the table thats was besides you.
Daniel makes this win so easy...but that is a skill in itself!
Excellent! The board really helps to appreciate the game!
I haven't played Blitz OTB before with a crowd this way. It's interesting how you can hear a room full of pieces and clock buttons until that changes about 5 minutes in, to people walking around and murmuring.
honestly I don't understand how they can stay focused. How can they drown everything out? Very impressive.

Aman's mind only starts working properly when he has 10 seconds or less on the clock
Lool! That's serious 😂😂😂
Thumbnails for these are incredibly well done
"Revenge for Tuesday." lol
Definitely really good friends.
What's the idea behind both players bringing the knights back to their starting squares in the opening?
black baits e5 from white then plans for a c5 pawn break. danya realizes his knight is misplaced on c3, as the d pawn needs more support before black can play c5. common idea for this structure (also seen from caro and french).
“God dammit, cutter!” 😂
Such a classy game
I’ve watched quite a few gm plays do they ever actually say they resign or is it always a head shake followed by a posture shift into a handshake
Nobody ever says resign, if you're resigning an OTB game you stop the clock and shake hands
here it was kinda obvious cuz it was aman was losing a rook so he shook hands
99% of time its obvious to a gm whether the player who offers there hand is lost in the position so nothing needs to be said. If they are unsure they do ask
You could say "good game," shake hands, and stop the clock
I can tell it’s obvious to the players and looking at the positions it’s easy to say why a player resigned I ask because of the formalities of chess and if ever an arbiter were needed say if one player says another player resigned and the other player is saying the other player resigned I just wonder what the protocols are/ would be
Such a clean finish. Nice game.
Let's go Danya!!!
Danya🔥🔥🔥
I've learned a lot
Was this being played in an air hockey arena? Good lord it was so loud
The Force is strong with this one.
big fan of Danya but at 0:05 WHAT WAS THAT?????

Can anyone explain why Daniel puts his knight back to B1?
To play the explosive, c4
Lol, if you have ask that question, you do not deserve to play chess anymore, retire please thanks
to push the c pawn

The problem with aman playing like this is that it's a French but he's just down a couple tempo from bringing his knight back and playing bishop b7. daniel can more than afford to waste a tempo with his knight
And he also had time; Aman moved his knight back, so it’s not so bad if Danya also moves his knight back.
1:31, why danya didn't give a check with queen and take this horse?
That is a queen trade at best or helping black develop. The horsey is protected.
Rook bishop deadly at endgames.
Was Danya’s backwards knight move at 1:05 just him being polite in response to Aman’s knight being pushed back, or did that serve some purpose in the game?
Allows him to push c pawn to c3 or c4

What a beautiful checkmate. I wish danya was commentating his own game 🤣
somehow went from owens defence to that french where they trade the light sq bishop chess is weird
Wow!
Classic Aman
I wonder what Dunner did.
There are times to think and times to act and this is no time to think.
Danya's chess has spoken by itself
my Owen's defense never lasts that long..its either a win or a loss in less than half the moves
Aman played half of this match with 3 seconds left lol
Danya was the cops with a helicopter and Aman was the carthief. And then there was gridlock.
Aman played the opening like an intermediate playing against an amateur. Bad idea against Naroditsky.
Did Danya un-develop his Knight out of good sportsmanship? After that e5 push, Aman undeveloped his Knight and seemed unhappy about it, then Danya did the same. No. I believe both undevelpements were strategically sound
he played it so that he is able to respond to the c5 push with c3 to preserve the pawn chain. It's a common motif in the french as well
Neither of these players would go soft out of a sense of sportsmanship.
Although, they are very nice people, I hear.
At that point I heard Ben Finegold saying approvingly 'always retreat'
yesssssss!
I can hear them annotating...
aaaaand by move 10 Aman has 4 seconds. Just like me... apart from I play worse moves
GG
Taking that amount of time to play an elementary blunder like Bg5
I am not sure who this black player is... But be played the opening like a complete beginner... Might be one of those 2350 gms 😂
Aman played like a Novice. How he got the GM title is a complete mystery to me. 😒
