My 2024 surprise was probably Serpent and the wings of night. I was afraid that by being a romantasy I would not enjoy it but the way the world was set up was very interesting and I ended up quite enjoying it
My biggest surprise last year was definitely the Cursed Princess Club. The most hilarious and wholesome webtoon that's now being published as graphic novels. I want everyone to read it now.
I discovered healing fiction this year too and am loving it. My biggest surprise this year was discovering a couple romances that I loved. I'm definitely not normally a romance reader. Part of Your World and Red, White and Royal Blue both hit me in the feels though!
2024 was a big year for me with translated fiction too and I am so excited to read more this year! I also read some gothic horror and am now going to try more types of horror this year! Omg Sorcery and Small Magics eeeeeee! One of my faves last year!
I don’t know if these were my most surprising books of 2024 but a couple that I read really recently and was surprised that I loved SO MUCH were Potkin & Stubbs by Sophie Green and The Miraculous Sweetmakers: The Frost Fair by Natasha Hastings. It was YOUR recommendation for Potkin & Stubbs that got me wanting to read it, so thank you! And I loved the wholesomeness of The Miraculous Sweetmakers.
My best surprise of 2024 was probably The Bone Houses. I put it on my TBR, so obviously I hoped I'd like it, but I was very surprised when it turned out to be a 5-star read! 💀🌟 Also really want to get to Sorcery and Small Magics - a slow-burn queer romance basically sounds like it was written for me!
I unfortunately ended up DNFing the Dandelion Dynasty about 150-200 pages into book 3. I had similar problems as you (and others) with book 1, but gave the rest of the series a shot and unfortunately the whole series didn’t work for me. Surprises for me in 2024 included The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson and Most Ardently by Gabe Cole Novoa since I’m not really reaching for YA anymore, but these two I really enjoyed and rated 4 to 4.5 stars.
Ahhh I'm so glad you loved Sorcery & Small Magics too!! It's such a perfect start to a series! I love these two knuckleheads who can't get their shit together!
Heartless by Elsie Silver was a surprise to me - I've never read a romance with a single dad before, but I liked the first book so I gave it a try and it ended up being one of my favourite books I read in 2024. My most disappointing read was Firetide Coast (#3) by Clare McKenna - it was the last in the trilogy and it just fell flat for me. Which was a shame because I loved the first book, the second was fine and maybe suffered from from "second book syndrome" a little, but this book just didn't do it for me unfortunately. 😞
The Teller of Small Fortunes was a great surprise. I didn't think I would have enjoyed it as much as I did and it was my last read in 2024.
I read Bloom because of you, and girrrrrrrrl, I was not prepared for the ending! Holy cow!
I hope that’s a good holy cow! 😅
@Jadeyraereads very much so! I loved the book and the ending!

I read so many romances too this year and I’m usually fantasy/thriller/horror. I was shooketh when I figured out my 2nd top genre was romance
I hope the rest of your week goes smoothly. Can't wait for Saturday now!!

Hi Jade! I'm gonna miss these daily videos lol but look forward to the next one anyway. 😉

I think my most surprising read was Belladonna, as I usually avoid YA but I had a good time with this 🧡

why would you spoil the grace of kings like that
I liked your video but UA-cam says 0 likes. I hope you see the likes even if UA-cam is nor showing them.
Now it says 2 likes!!!!
the least surprising thing? legacy of light not being on here 🥲
No because that would mean she read it in 2024, which she obviously haven’t done 😔 /j
I love your legacy of light comments btw :D
You are hilarious, you little menace you 🧡
@@Jadeyraereads menace is such a beautiful word imo 😂
