Thanks for sharing your ideas again! My very first Filofax was a Domino, then I eventually worked up to having a Lyndhurst. I decided to sell those years ago. Wish I had kept the Lyndhurst though, the leather was absolutely beautiful. I now just use my Pocket Filofax, easy to carry about every day. I also own an A5 and Personal Size Malden and an Original Filofax with that dreaded thick elastic on! Lovely to meet like-minded people on here. We can never have too many Filofaxes, can we?!😊

Thank you for your detailed feedback. It's always nice to learn of other filofax users' experiences with the brand. I'm not a fan of elastic either, if it's permanently attached to a binder, but loose (and hence replaceable periodically) is absolutely fine for me. Thank you once again.

I like the “tickets please” conductor impression. This is enjoyable to watch. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛

Great! To add to merits of smaller rings - they are comfortable to right on both sides of the binder and the rings do not make it almost impossible to write on the left side (for right-handed).
Your videos made me fall in love with mini sized slim binders. And I have asked you to sell me your Guilford Mini Extra Slim, but since then I found something slightly larger- the Japanese binder Ray May Da Vinci Pocket.
I would love to hear your thoughts on those binders.
Moreover, I am custom ordering something similar to Guilford extra slim.

I really like the idea of a travel specific Filofax. I’ve been looking at the Madori Passport but this seems like a more pragmatic solution.

I used to use a bulldog clip but now I use Oli Clips. They’re magnetic clip that is even less bulky than traditional bulldog clip

      I’ll check them out. Thanks.
Ah, I didn’t realise that was what they were. They look quite useful, although there are some design limitations. Very innovative though, so thanks for the info.

Thanks for the tips ! Just bought me a 4 ring pocket size Filofax and didn’t know about the difference in ring size. So glad it fits personal size.
They are definitely not common here in the Netherlands.
Do you know why they changed the proportions of the ring settings? And when? Did both 4 and 6 rings pocket size exist at the same time?

The six ring spacing, in "personal" size, has been the same for a hundred years (thankfully). The four ring editions, which were produced here in the UK, just before production was moved abroad, were a short lived experiment that rand in parallel to the six ring binders.

Could not agree more Neil. For some reason the Personal format is wearing out on me. Pocket is perfect but then I either jump to A5 for work stuff or jot on my A6 William Hannah. The Personal/format is just too tall and I find no pleasure to write on. Well, but as usual…. Ask me in few months and the spell of magic of Formats will tell me in my dreams M5 is the way to go ;-) But for now - A6 and Pocket works for me the best.

I'm certainly starting to use A6, and A7, more frequently. Thank you for your feedback.

I’ve been looking on eBay for this slim little 4 rings Filofax but can’t find anything… do you have a specific name of the model or a link to get one of those? Thanks!

These ones didn’t specially have a name. They do pop up on eBay now and again. Include the search term, “kid leather” to help with your search.

I used bulldog clips for a while and then I discovered vintage Esterbrook clips on eBay. My favorite is the #20 ball bearing clip. Now you have me looking for my filofax binders.😅 One thing, do you know of any filofax paper in personal size that is fountain pen friendly? That's what drove me away from them. The paper would bleed ink too much for my taste.😢

Those Esterbrook clips sure look good, although I prefer the form factor of bulldog clips once the paper stack approaches the maximum capacity of the clip. Filofax paper isn't great for fountain pen ink, as you say, but, in fairness to Filofax, the emphasis has traditionally been focussed on thinner paper in order to maximise binder sheet capacity.
My recommendation is to cut your own personal sized sheets from the paper stock of your choice. I regularly do this with Clairefontaine paper.
Thank you for your feedback. Very interesting.
