This Gent has obviously been in the trenches for many years and identified very well (and quite concisely here ) most if not all the issues that need addressing to accomplish this very complex task. Running FOH while tweaking on stage monitors at the same time is beyond challenging in my opinion. He explains all this expertly here. Thanks Justin.
This is great video for all sound engineers out there who wants to get into the live sound business. Professional tips and tricks that can save your ass on the job. Respect.
Justin, I want to personally thank you for this video. I watched it last week and picked up some few ideas to test in my local church. We use the Behringer X32. I can report back that it was a significant improvement of stage mix. Prior to that, singers and instrumentalist both on stage complain they cannot hear themselves but over this weekend, they all affirmed that the changes has really solved their hearing problems. Thank you again for taking your time to share these tips.
That's great news! So good that you've applied what you learnt and that it's made a difference to your and your musicians experience. The rest of the masterclass is available at www.soulsound.co.uk.
Great information.... but I was getting sea-sick watching him! Please Mr Sound Guy, lean on something while you talk in the future so that you don't annoy the viewers with your shifty movements! But keep giving us good info too!
Darryn de la Soul Wow, that is Brilliant, Thank You so much!! Yes I live in the UK, Midlands, and I can travel. How about some time in August...?? How could I get in touch??
He just does that, if you're in the actual classroom (his NORMAL teaching habitat lol) it doesn't matter at all. In fact, I preferred it over the mannequin-syndrome other teachers had.
Oh come off it please. It’s not very often that a sound engineer does a video, these guys are always working in the background FOR everyone else, and this is a rare Treat. All of us get nervous doing something we are not used to.
He looks so much like dan from that pedal show
Today we'll discuss how to mix monitors from front of house while on a yacht...

@@wonkyrobot Lots of us sound peeps are "on the spectrum." Auts rock.
Anybody know this panel has any latency far beyond the comma ?
Hi, I have a question. What are advantages of using 2 monitors for the vocalist compared to 1?
its louder
you can sway from side to side between the 2 of them
i think its depend of the polar pattern of the mic!
supercardioid and hypercardioid feedback more if the wedge is behind it
Only issue i have with this is about compression/gates Most digital boards you can send it pre/ post almost anything. In my case x32/m32
This is very interesting. Where is it possible to watch the full video?
Hi - the rest is available on www.soulsound.co.uk
Hi Diro - you can watch it at www.soulsound.co.uk

Haloo sr how to setup mixer and monitor in church
It's exactly the same process for a church as for a band. Watch the rest pf the masterclass on www.soulsound.co.uk
Thank you sr
Like analog boards, monitors (wedges) will soon be a thing of the past, being replaced by in ear monitors. The advantages are too numerous to list.
Certainly some good tips in there
