    I love that you use positive reinforcement to train dogs! I have a 4 month old puppy and I've taught her to sit, lay down, heel, come, stay, give paw, "walk home", "crate time", "no", and how to walk nicely on a leash using your videos as guidance. Thank you for your amazing content!

    Just wanted to say, I've watched a number of your videos from when my partner and I were given a 9 week old boxer puppy. He was a handful...but using your positive reinforcement techniques he has become the most loving dog we could have wished for. He's almost 7 months old now.

    So far I have watched 7-8 different videos of Zak's. They are all super helpful and about to train/retrain our 7 month old doxie who is ripping up the house while we are gone. All your episodes feel and move like an HGTV episode! Why HGTV doesn't sign you on to do a pet related show is beyond me. The tips are extremely helpful and my eyes open so wide when I see something that will help our puppy. Big thank you for all the tips!

    What I learn from these videos is you can only get a dog if you’re unemployed or can take at least 6 months of vacation time and then never ever work full-time again for the rest of the dog’s life.

    You have no idea how happy I am to find all your videos. I have a 9 week old husky. I've spent the last three days getting her accustomed to her crate and she now goes into it on command and sits on command. Seriously -after three days..thank you so much.

    Thanks so much for this video and all the others! We're getting our puppy in a week, she's a Finnish Lapphund. I got your book as well and I'm expecting to read it MANY times in the weeks and months to come. I love your style of training positively! I've learned a lot and training a puppy doesn't seem so daunting anymore thanks to you. Keep doing what you do!

    I can not express enough how much your video's have helped my family and new pup adjust to one another. She is going on 9 weeks old so puppy biting is definitely an issue, but your videos are working perfectly for her and I always have my 2 youngest carry a toy to distract her when she wants to bite them!!! Just wanted to say thank you for taking time out of your day to make these videos that help tremendously!! Have a blessed day!

    This is helping me a lot. My family just adopted a border collie/Aussie mix puppy and it’s really helping us train little Rex. Thank you for posting so many videos about training puppies, I’m a newbie when it comes to raising puppies, so I’m a new mom to him, and I have a two year old so I’m super busy with both these little ones.

    You should do a video on kids and training. Or, everyone in the family. Does everyone need to spend time training? We are a family of 4. Also, is playing outside maybe fetch or tug of war adequate exsersize? Or do dogs have to go on long walks? Basically, what is adequate exercise for a puppy or adult dog?

      Zak George's Dog Training rEvolution I've been following you for years and this is a video I was looking forward. It is very well done. However 3 minutes of commercial is a bit excessive! Good luck with everything

      @zakgeorge  8 років тому +55

      How do you calculate 3 min?!?! But glad you liked the video. Operating costs to produce videos like this are a bit more than most imagine. Figuring out a way to provide premium dog training video content free to the public has it's challenges and if you know of someone who's doing it better and more cost efficient let me know! Lastly, understand that the brands I work with must meet strict level of standards. I only bring you products and brands that I think will make you and your dog's life better. Thanks for the feedback.

    I really love your videos specially seeing the love for dogs is so sweet. I am getting a pup in few days and I am so thrilled but at the same time really freaked out. From what I have read so far from experience training pups can be so difficult .. I am not saying I don't want to put efforts because I really do but what if I fail? And approx how many weeks it takes to train a pup.. I am getting a labra btw :)

    • @lolalover24212
      @lolalover24212 5 років тому +1

      Lab's are pretty easy to train, they're very smart and willing to please! They're also big so definitely invest in a no-pull harness to avoid leash pulling from the start. It takes months to years to FULLY train a puppy but most will get potty training & leash walking down first as they're practiced most (maybe 2-4 months). Restrict access to your home (use a play pen or confine to one room) when you aren't there so they don't get into the habit of getting into mischief. it's pretty hard to "fail" with a dog but your main focus in the beginning is FORMING good habits and AVOIDING bad ones. Keep treats on you always and turn everything into training! and obviously the most important thing is exercise, make sure your dog is both mentally and physically stimulated throughout the day and they'll be much more receptive to training.

    Hi Zak. Your videos are great and very insightful. One of my fears in getting a dog is how to house break the puppy as I live in a high rise apartment. Abhishek Murali I also live in a high rise apartment we trained him fairly easily as we started training straight away and he's a fast learner. My best advise is to keep to routine (take him out in the morning after work etc) so he's used to going at certain times. :) hope this helped

      Tyvlio XD Thank you Tyvlio. That definitely does give me some insight, but I was wondering how you handled house-breaking when the pup was young and the bladder is tiny. When you have to take him to the spot to go almost every other hour.
      Did you have a designated spot at home or any other specific pads/garden area inside the house?

    Hi Zak George! I have watched soooo many of your videos to guide my training technique for our new goldendoodle puppy, Cabo (now 12 weeks). Your videos are SO helpful/insightful and Cabo is doing great with his training and tricks. All of the neighbors can't believe how smart he is. We started using a busy buddy to feed him a couple weeks ago for mental stimulation. He is really great at it! Only thing is...now if we put his food in his bowl, he INHALES it, does not chew, and has started guarding. Is it common for a dog to develop this behavior after using the busy buddy? Also, how can we fix this behavior? Thanks!!

    What a typical day looks like:
    1) advertisement
    2) outside to pee
    3) advertisement
    4) feed/nap
    5) train in places
    6) advertisement
    Anyone can say a normal day is.. Pee breaks, food and training. And the "extra links" to other things is often just more "repetition good" and advertisements. What about talking about an actual typical day? When to fee, when naps, where to nap, how many training sessions in a day...

    Just wondering how you were able to take the puppy to the park at 10 weeks? I am still waiting to be able to take mine out but keep getting told i have to wait until my pup is 16weeks as that is when his final vaccination will be done

    • @sandradelvecchio6894
      @sandradelvecchio6894 6 років тому +4

      Billy Jordan the problem with that idea is that their window for socialization shuts a good bit around 16 weeks. I had a trainer tell me “oh, it’s too bad he’s missed his socialization window”. She didn’t know us, he had been going to dog park since 10 weeks. It’s a conundrum. Ppl insist wait until shots, then trainers say important to do well before 16 weeks.

    • @ToniWall
      @ToniWall 6 років тому

      My puppy will have his last round of shots at 16 weeks. He hasn’t been outside or around other dogs at all. He likes to jump, play and bite. I hope he grows out of it!

    THANKK YOU SOO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO !!!! I found a 6-8 week old pup Wednesday night and she's changed my life and I've decided to keep her ( plus she's battling mange and couldn't imagine her outside just suffering) and your video has helped me train her to sit with the lure method and stop her puppy bites. Thank you so much for giving this information so we can be better doggie mommys and daddies !!!!!!

    Could you do a video on how to make a dog like a dachshund(known to be independent and "stubborn") understand that you are the leader? These videos are so helpful!

    I love your videos! Could you do some on giant breeds that are supposedly "naturally aggressive"? We are getting a caucasian shepherd (also known as caucasian ovcharka) puppy soon and I cant find any training video for giant dogs. He will be twice my weight when fully grown so I really want to train him well before he gets out of hand. Thank you!

      mexican vegan We have a jumping problem too! Mostly on others. We use the word "off" firmly with a hand signal and then give attention when they are no longer jumping. Say "good off, good boy/girl" but we still have trouble w him jumping on others.

      what is typically recommended, especially if you have a big dog, is to raise your knee so they can't make contact with your body, which is what they want. Pairing that with a command and ignoring them until they settle down will calm them over time.

      Well, if you wanna deny your pup proper exercise and social interaction as it grows then by all means put it in a bubble. It's a Catch-22, dude. I could catch pneumonia shoveling snow but it still has to be done. That is why we get vaccinations and take care of ourselves.

      wwryftw dog aren't suppose to go out side at all until they have all they're shots even then you're suppose to wait a week before you take outside. The usually get they're final shots at around 16 weeks

      I'd recommend finding a group or club that does puppy socialization classes. Usually they are free or inexpensive and then they are placed in a new environment and with other dogs and people with little risk of getting sick

    I am getting my Rhodesian Ridgeback/Weimaraner mix puppy the day after tomorrow and I am super excited. My boyfriend will take the dog with him to a Crossfit box where he works on some days, while I'm in university. Is there a video where you explain how to stop barking or whining when my boyfriend is not within sight of the puppy? Another trainer at the box also has a puppy and he is whining all the time while he's some metres away from him. If this happens with our puppy too, I'd like to get rid of it asap. :-)

    Has anyone else faced this problem when as well, when they wake up early morning to take their puppy out for a bathroom break and play session but they themselves need to go through their morning bathroom routine as well ? I mean what do you do in that situation because the puppy can’t hold itself too long and sometimes you can’t either but the puppy needs his supervised morning bathroom-play session as well.
