      I love when ANYbody reviews a tube amp. Seems to be less and less cool to do so these days. Glad Phil isn't relegating them to "outdated" like many others are.

    Bad Cat makes great stuff. But for $200 less, I think I’d go with a Soldano Astro. I was shocked how great the clean and crunch are on that amp. I thought it was just for high gain.

    Aluminum knobs actually sounds like a good idea on a physics standpoint. Think of them as tiny radiators or heat sinks that may help regulate the temperature inside the pots. Don’t know if it does anything but may keep things more consistent and less heat on the inside.

      I recently bought my first valve amp after decades of solid state stuff , that I had been reasonably happy with . I bought a second hand Marshall DSL40 . It's loud and it's pretty heavy as it's the combo , but wow ! That sound is ace .

    GREAT sounding amp! (Then it SHOULD be for $2K+!)
    Great clean ch & od ch!
    Some amps can't seem to do both! Either have a great, sparkly clean channel & a ratty or flubby od channel, OR a dull clean ch & a kicking o/d channel!

  • @kennethc2466
    @kennethc2466 3 місяці тому

    FYI, when you test the temperature of electronics, engines, etc, you try not to raise the ambient temp outside of it's reported error range. Er, 'outside' is not a controlled environment. They could have had the sun at the back of the amp, or the front, on the top, or in the shade, etc. A strong breeze, humidity, etc. Most metal amp chassis act like a heat sink, but the pots making the ABS PLASTIC KNOBS that hot, is not normal heat dissipation of a tube amp.

    Really Top sounds from that AMP, Ohh to Dream, and a Head version Perfect is it through the Cream Back speakers As hunting a 12-inch for my Marshall 2 12 half stack, afraid to find Aust Price maybe they'd Love an Aussie to have one, it would be an honor lol. It would be a great addition to my Marshal, Fender combo, and Orange 2 12 white tolex limited edition hand wired. which was pure luck, especially in Australia. Have to Ask which Hat are you decorating your Nut with LOL, As got to order myself one, and I actually do like the black shirt you have been wearing, Think Mrs McKnight be arranging any to buy? As if getting a hat may as well add a different shirt to my collection of KYG t-shirts, Yet dig the colour Change idea wanted a Gold Top Les Paul yrs now. Yet still want to buy A: Relic 60's Custom shop for that 50th birthday 3 years back as not received a gift for fathers Day birthdays or even a card stopped buying things and signing my kid's names to show other ex-military at the CBT closed door group days. My replacement was very jealous for some reason, as he never worked a day in life and my kids used to mention often when I was in the Army, when told Med Discharge I tried hard to have it stopped. played my injuries down and worked and achieved 2 Dip of Applied Science Degree as I've never taken handouts from the Government yet few years too many ain tabs to hide it and on top of PTSD night sweats passing out and more fun I was told my body tried to say you're broken but I kept pushing till buying lunch for wife and kids and passed out Right in front of everyone in a shopping mall. Soaking wet. security came of course. Once had seen I wasn't a junky, Told my wife his father ex Vietnam asked her some questions and said I'm no Dr but its hard for them to open up, suggest you try to get him to see a Mental Health person, which Big Bad arse soldiers don't volunteer to go see The Voodoo DR's as they kill careers in defense. Yet did and am now in a rental 24/7 with Trooper my Service dog. maybe the replacement stubbed his toe while chasing rainbows & Unicorns and became so distressed, went he got a government pension that can't ever work. sad to see my son thinks that's the way and has not attempted getting a job, If I speak up I'll be marked the trouble. Yet both my kids were talented and were doing really well at school, even taught himself Acoustic I bought him Tears in Heaven note for note I was blown away, thinking how cool to jam with my son. Yet only a few months after they stopped visiting and only texted. A $1000 acoustic was just thrown into the shed and leaked. They only listen to gangster rap last I heard. My replacement also is 18yrs my junior lmao. So life sucks. Sorry to have a vent. but I also really love to put one of your humbuckers into my USA standard Strat Custom shop fat 50's yet the dynamic I think was called humbucker has just never been what wanted, till I got My RI 61 Faded cherry SG, Would be ANY chance of single humbucker being made to get it on par a great USA Strat 2009 but just too loose sounding bridge Humbucker. FUBAR DAY today apologies!! been KYG binging show day Matt AKA (Grumpy Digger 😨)

    Sounds a lot like my Carvin nomad 50wt1x12(Belair) sounds over the net almost exact, then again the nomad has 4 el84 & 5 12ax7 the el84 really color the sound and cause early brake up. Unfortunately the drive channel on the nomad is weird not made like most other drive channels, the black cat drive section is much better but i can achieve that sound with pedals. Anyway im just noticing the similarities of the amps. i have to say amps just keep getting better but also ridiculously expensive.

    Analog trem, yes.... but why not make the trem osc digital to allow "tap" speed setting? Once you have a cpu in there already for reverb... even a cheap ARM cpu could handle an osc without hurting the reverb.
