This is the most natural dialogue I've heard in a Marvel flick. No quips, no sass, just three dudes talking. None of that usual Marvel "Well that just happened" schtick people mock.
That's probably because it was an improv scene. This film had a lot of them that the directors went "Yeah, we're keeping that in." As an example, MJ throwing bread at Andrew Garfield was an experimentation on how to convince him to show his spidey sense. She legit asked on set if she can throw bread at him XD _A little bit of trivia for ya!_

It certainly feels like the director allowed the three Spidey actors to just speak whatever the hell comes natural to them and the ensuing banter is what we see here. This proves just how terrific the chemistry is between the three guys. I want to see them work together again in a different movie where they portray brothers!

Andrew should've told them that he met his father. The amazing spider man 2 there's a deleted scene in the graveyard. Peter finally meets his father. Imagine the 2 Peter's finding out that their parents were actually super secret government agents and their parents died in a airplane crash.
It's sweet how giddy Andrew's Peter is this whole scene. It's clear he is still mourning Gwen & doesn't seem to be in a good place as Spider or Peter. But being around these two who relate to & fascinate him has given him the most genuine happiness & friendship he's felt in ages. So despite his bad place, he is (for a bit) genuinely happy here.
The reason the scene is the best in the whole movie is because it doesn’t feel scripted. this feels like a natural conversation these guys would have with each other.
I get what you mean. It was clear they were all enjoying the conversation, it looked improvised, but so funny and cool too! I couldn't stop crying and laughing! Childhood was made when all three of them came together!
I will never get over Tobey’s Spider-Man telling Andrew’s that he is amazing. I think that’s just a special moment for Andrew himself because his movies were not received well but many agree that his performances were the best parts about them.
I love how Tom is the youngest but has had arguably the most epic battles between the three but he's still like a super fan of the other two and what they've done
that even though he’s had the most intense battles, the other two are still the more battlehoned simply just because of their age and experience. And also they largely were own their own, no team or father figure mentor who is also superhero to help groom them
I didn't care for Andrew's movies but.... I was gonna give a few examples of what I liked about his movies, but I honestly can't think of anything. He's good in this movie though.

The Amazing Spiderman (TASM) is the best spider franchise ever. It was full of intense fast action and great plots. I wish they could have continued it. It'd have been much better than Tobey's and Tom's spider franchises.

@@artmeatj6620actually I usually hate stupid callbacks like that when they’re clearly just shoved in there for the meta context. I used to love it and then they wayyyyyy overdid it, two examples being one from this exact movie when Norman does the whole “I’m something of a scientist myself”, I mean yeah I guess in character he’d deliver almost the exact same phrase with the exact same cadence and all and another being palpatine’s “the dark side leads to abilities some would consider unnatural” in rise of skywalker (that I haven’t even seen yet) because come on. But this one felt perfectly in line with the situation and everything, it was definitely a callback but it was way subtle and it definitely feels like it’s an issue he’s had every so often ever since he slammed himself into a car. Like if he’d hobbled around and did it exactly as it was in Spider-Man 2 it would be pretty bad but here he’s just like “oh yeah my dumb back.” I think it works best because even if you hadn’t seen Spider-Man 2 it works on its own just fine but having seen it it makes you smile a little and I think that’s the difference, the best callbacks aren’t just nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake but subtle ways of advancing the character or hinting at their changes and then giving the audience a small feeling of “look how far they’ve come” like you’re looking at an old scrapbook. Not someone shoving the scrapbook in your face and saying “REMEMBER HOW GREAT THIS WAS” lol
i mean he gets it. Otto was one of the sweetest and brilliant scientist in the world. top of his field. a scholar and philosopher. then he got some AI tentacle arms that took control of him
I was a toddler when Tobey Maguire Spider-Man came out. Then I was a preteen when Andrew Garfield Spider-Man came out. And then a late teenager when Tom Holland Spider-Man came out.
What I love about this scene is it feels so natural to me. Like it feels like it's improvised with only direction given being "just have a random conversation as your characters until we decide to move on".
I'm almost convinced that's exactly what happened. No script, cameras rolled, and they were just told to talk naturally in character. That's probably why there's very little editing and music throughout the whole scene, going for that natural conversation vibe.

This movie evolved Tom's Peter, allowed Andrew's Peter to get his redemption and made Tobey's Peter more charismatic and closer to the comics. What a fantastic triple feature

He has the perfect attitude and witticisms in the suit when the narrative requires it, and most importantly he knows when to shut the f- up to not rob legitimately emotional or enticing scenes of their punch. It was his early days in SM1 and his character is an abomination in SM3 but he is about as faithful as it gets in SM2.
@@Fackunator Did you even watch the Raimi movies? Because he showed much flexibility and he DID make wisecracking remarks, but only when it was appropriate. As for being charismatic, Peter wasn't that charismatic in the comics. It took him a long time to even get confident. And Raimi's Peter gets more confident with each movie, that's the point. It's called character development.

Andrew Garfield was never a bad Spider-Man. We’re his movies underwhelming? Maybe. Was HE underwhelming? No. He was a great Spider-Man and I’m glad he got a stage to show it.
The magic of this scene is that it feels unscripted. Obviously its not. But it's done in a way where it feels like Jon Watts just switched the camera on and told them to have a random conversation as their characters.
I never really got the hate. I enjoyed both of Garfield's Spidey movies, even with the dubstep Electro thing. He deserved a third movie. We need one of him finding either his universe's MJ or making it actually work with Black Cat.
I had my issues with the TASM movies, especially the second one. But Andrew Garfield was never one of them. He was great as Peter. Actually, if you watch some of the deleted scenes from the first one, you can sort of see how the film could've been saved if they didn't cut so much out. The second one was beyond redemption, but again, not Garfield's fault. He did an excellent job with the material he was given.

I honestly could watch a whole movie like this. The best part is that it's not just blind fanservice. Tobey's Peter has had his happy ending and is looking out for the younger generation. Andrew's suffered a bad ending and doesn't want that fate for Tom's. They're 3 different journeys meeting at a crossroad: one near its end, one midway through, and one really only just beginning.
I love how they are so much like brothers. Tobey is the older sibling who is always there encouraging but give space for his younger siblings to learn. Andrew is the middle child who has no clue how much his siblings care and doubts himself all the time but his bros have his back. And Tom is the young, crazy and one who wants to do so much but his brothers help ground him to help him see where he is and what they can do together also in letting him know they understand.
As the youngest of three brothers, this scene hit home so much in that regard. Fantastic chemistry between these three as both Peters and even actors I imagine. Elevated all three of them on this movie in my opinion.
More movies need character interactions like this. Nothing flashy, just characters chatting like normal folk do. Brings a legitimacy to the interactions and makes it feel more real and relatable.
It adds, dare i say it, more humanity to the characters when they have small moments like this between the big fights. It's one reason I like Thor: Ragnarok for example. The scene with Loki and Thor in the elevator is another scene like this done just right for exactly the same reason, at least imo. No over the top chaotic action, very minimal if any cgi edits, just two bros talking and bonding over thir shared pasts.
Most people overhate Tom in 2016 because Andrew fet fired by Sony and his saga gets down,Ironically Tom First movie gets more money Than TASM1 and TASM2 lol (But i like Andrew anyways)
Seeing Spider-man coming to MCU in 2016 was quite a slap for me and my friends. I didn't even see the Amazing Spider-man movies and I wondered back then why they changed the actor again.
It's incredible how good the chemistry between these 3 is when there was never any plan to have them interact like this when they were initially cast as Spider-Man.
That's what makes this so natural. Like there was never a plan when initially developing each of them to ever meet. So they just naturally have chemistry by acting like themselves around each other and not some weird writing to force it
This is what TRUE fan service looks like. Not just throwing a reference/cameo in to say "see? Look! You like this, right? That makes this good!" But rather, something that is worked into the story, enhances it and even furthers it. MCU Spidey takes from what he learns from/shares with Tobey and Andrew and uses it to help himself become a better hero. Even in the final scene, in his new homemade costume, the design of the costume is a hybrid of his old suits and the suits of Tobey and Andrew. Best Spidey film yet, but across the spider verse is coming so, we'll see.

It means everything because he was speaking through us .. we ALL know he's amazing, and not just bc of the title of his movie, but he legit is amazing at acting vulnerable, which we loved to see from spiderman. Even tobey couldn't pull off losing MJ the way Andrea lost Gwen
Best thing this movie did was not have Andrew and Toney be cameos but actually have a part of the story. Both redemption arcs, Andrew’s Peter saving MJ and Tobey’s Peter helping Tom’s not succumb to revenge like he did and also being able to save Norman this time
It's so gratifying to hear Toby reassure Andrew that he's amazing. You damn right he is, of course his movies weren't that perfect but it's not his fault.
I love the 4th wall breaking with Andrew. Little details like “I’m not saying I’m lame like” meaning that he knows the movies sucked and not his portrayal of spidey. Great movie

Tobey was an already completely grown up Spiderman. Andrew was halfway, had already learned but emotionally struggling from his past mistakes. And Tom was still learning from mistakes. Perfect crossover.
The sibbing bond between these peters is wholesome as hell, the calm before the storm that is facing off against their respective villains in the next moment over. Tobey, Tom, and Andrew really knocked it out of the park from start to finish.
Tobey's spiderman was my introduction to spiderman, so it surprised me that in actuality the character almost never has organic webbing and needed the web shooters

Loved the back reference to Toby Maguire's Spiderman the fact that he nearly broke his back when he fell off the building but also the fact he's getting old haha 😆
And the "my back" joke in Spider-Man 2 was itself a reference to the fact that Tobey actually injured his back while filming the movie and it was uncertain if he'd be able to continue with the role. Luckily he was and Sam Raimi suggested they put a gag referencing that in the movie.

So glad they took the time to give us the Spider-Men talking. No cheesy jokes or forced stuff. Just feels like a normal convo. Also this scene is basically how it would go if any of us meet alternative versions of ourselves.
If I would meet an alternative version myself I always imagined it would go like it was in this movie. We would lift each other up and ask who did what in their own universes and compare stuff. Like "complete strangers" talking to each other which happen to be from the same blood-line in a way.

this scene was the best thing ever because it didn't feel like a part of an action superhero movie, it felt like these are some 3 guys who really exist out there and they're just having a conversation. it was so real and raw compared to all the other stuff going on and i absolutely love the chemistry these guys have.
I’m glad that Tobey and Andrew were actually supporting characters in this film and were in almost the entire 3rd act of the movie. I feel like any other studio would’ve wanted, or even demanded, them to be simple cameos for a scene or two and nothing else

This is exactly what left me stunned for days after leaving the theatre. Given all the rumors, I was 85% sure that they'd be appearing, so the magic from that surprise was nearly gone before it even began... but I was only expecting them to cameo. It's very rare for me to say something surpassed expectations when it comes to superhero movies anymore, but they really pulled it off here.

Favorite scene, in the entire film, right here. The three of them, bouncing off of each other. Comparing abilities, accomplishments, victories, etc. It was such a great moment of calm before the storm.
Tobey, Andrew, and Tom had such incredible chemistry together. They’re literally like three brothers and this scene along with the lab scene are my personal favorites in the movie.
Tobey is basically the big brother to Andrew and Tom. While they learn from each other's experience as respective Spider-Men, the one thing they all have in common is there's never a dull moment in their lives.
I love that they appreciate each other so much and willing to take up this project with no ego, just pure love towards the characters they have played.

I love the fact that they added a moment of break (from getting ready to battle and all) for these three to interact with each other just casually, just for the fans that always dreamt of seeing this happen.
I’ve so often complain about fan service, about having meetings and scenes just as callbacks to cool things so,why for the fans with no story purpose. This to me was a perfect example of how something could both be fan service AND serve the story well. People have been wanting something like this for YEARS, but the perfect meeting of timing and payoffs of decades long in-jokes and story points was done so smoothly. To date, this, the first Avengers movie, and Endgame are three of my favorite Marvel films.

You are right. Everyone can have a favorite spidey but this does not necessiate to ignore and disrespect others. All of them have different personality. Each of them gave a different soul to the character. Now, i want stories of all of them to continue and hope to see them together again in the future. Spidey brotherhood is awesome.
@@tnytny153 exactly. Each one is so unique it seems almost silly to compare them and see who's "best". It's the Spider-Verse after all. I'd love to see Tobey, Andrew and Tom together in a movie again, even if they aren't playing Spider-Man, they have such great chemistry together :-)
And I think a really nice touch was having Tobey Maguire deliver it. After all, a lot of the "superior Spiderman" hating and bashing comes from Maguire fans bashing other Spiderman fans for liking Garfield or Holland more than Maguire, or even liking the other versions at all. So by having Maguire himself be like "no dude, you are amazing, stop putting yourself down" it's like, well even your idol says the others are cool too so there's really no need for the hate.
The underlying story to that was Garfield took so much heat for the reboot. Fans heard about No Raimi and Maguire and made him the scapegoat. Tobey went out of his way to reassure fans that he was an excellent choice for Spider-Man (he even said he was excited for him)
That right there is not only perfect fan service, it's a 10/10 writing. You get character development, you get humor, you get a little drama and you close some loops they all needed. What a movie.
This scene alone made this movie a phenomenon. It wasn't just 3 actors talking, it was 3 spiderman having a simple chat about their lives and experiences, all their life struggles have lead them to this moment
I deny the fact that was just some random person leaking that. It must have been a set up by the studio, now knowing its just an unedited shot of actual raw footage used for the final piece. It looked too good to just be some leak. I swear those leaks looking back were just secret promotion to tease the possibility of their return without confirming it as to get people hyped.

Agree, I loved it when they all hugged at the end of the movie, was like Tom Holland was thanking both of them for a wonderful childhood and they were thanking him for respecting the older spiderman characters
Who could have known that these three actors would have such wonderful chemistry together. Of course, their real-world experience of sharing such a high-profile role would play into that, but there's some other magic at play too. Well done everyone.

It's sweet how giddy Andrew's Peter is this whole scene.
It's clear he is still mourning Gwen & doesn't seem to be in a good place as Spider or Peter. But being around these two who relate to & fascinate him has given him the most genuine happiness & friendship he's felt in ages. So despite his bad place, he is (for a bit) genuinely happy here.
My favorite detail about this entire movie is how Andrew and Tobey are essentially the ultimate cavalry at Tom's darkest moment.

@@artmeatj6620actually I usually hate stupid callbacks like that when they’re clearly just shoved in there for the meta context. I used to love it and then they wayyyyyy overdid it, two examples being one from this exact movie when Norman does the whole “I’m something of a scientist myself”, I mean yeah I guess in character he’d deliver almost the exact same phrase with the exact same cadence and all and another being palpatine’s “the dark side leads to abilities some would consider unnatural” in rise of skywalker (that I haven’t even seen yet) because come on.
But this one felt perfectly in line with the situation and everything, it was definitely a callback but it was way subtle and it definitely feels like it’s an issue he’s had every so often ever since he slammed himself into a car. Like if he’d hobbled around and did it exactly as it was in Spider-Man 2 it would be pretty bad but here he’s just like “oh yeah my dumb back.” I think it works best because even if you hadn’t seen Spider-Man 2 it works on its own just fine but having seen it it makes you smile a little and I think that’s the difference, the best callbacks aren’t just nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake but subtle ways of advancing the character or hinting at their changes and then giving the audience a small feeling of “look how far they’ve come” like you’re looking at an old scrapbook. Not someone shoving the scrapbook in your face and saying “REMEMBER HOW GREAT THIS WAS” lol

I was a toddler when Tobey Maguire Spider-Man came out. Then I was a preteen when Andrew Garfield Spider-Man came out. And then a late teenager when Tom Holland Spider-Man came out.
What I love about this scene is it feels so natural to me. Like it feels like it's improvised with only direction given being "just have a random conversation as your characters until we decide to move on".
I'm almost convinced that's exactly what happened. No script, cameras rolled, and they were just told to talk naturally in character. That's probably why there's very little editing and music throughout the whole scene, going for that natural conversation vibe.

This movie evolved Tom's Peter, allowed Andrew's Peter to get his redemption and made Tobey's Peter more charismatic and closer to the comics. What a fantastic triple feature

@@Fackunator his character is perfect in the second film. He has the perfect attitude and witticisms in the suit when the narrative requires it, and most importantly he knows when to shut the f- up to not rob legitimately emotional or enticing scenes of their punch.
It was his early days in SM1 and his character is an abomination in SM3 but he is about as faithful as it gets in SM2.
@@Fackunator Did you even watch the Raimi movies? Because he showed much flexibility and he DID make wisecracking remarks, but only when it was appropriate. As for being charismatic, Peter wasn't that charismatic in the comics. It took him a long time to even get confident. And Raimi's Peter gets more confident with each movie, that's the point. It's called character development.

The magic of this scene is that it feels unscripted. Obviously its not. But it's done in a way where it feels like Jon Watts just switched the camera on and told them to have a random conversation as their characters.

I never really got the hate. I enjoyed both of Garfield's Spidey movies, even with the dubstep Electro thing. He deserved a third movie. We need one of him finding either his universe's MJ or making it actually work with Black Cat.
I had my issues with the TASM movies, especially the second one. But Andrew Garfield was never one of them. He was great as Peter. Actually, if you watch some of the deleted scenes from the first one, you can sort of see how the film could've been saved if they didn't cut so much out. The second one was beyond redemption, but again, not Garfield's fault. He did an excellent job with the material he was given.

I honestly could watch a whole movie like this.
The best part is that it's not just blind fanservice. Tobey's Peter has had his happy ending and is looking out for the younger generation. Andrew's suffered a bad ending and doesn't want that fate for Tom's. They're 3 different journeys meeting at a crossroad: one near its end, one midway through, and one really only just beginning.
This was Amazing for Spiderman. The ad - libbing & riffing is / was a SMART MOVE.

I love how they are so much like brothers. Tobey is the older sibling who is always there encouraging but give space for his younger siblings to learn. Andrew is the middle child who has no clue how much his siblings care and doubts himself all the time but his bros have his back. And Tom is the young, crazy and one who wants to do so much but his brothers help ground him to help him see where he is and what they can do together also in letting him know they understand.

More movies need character interactions like this. Nothing flashy, just characters chatting like normal folk do. Brings a legitimacy to the interactions and makes it feel more real and relatable.
It adds, dare i say it, more humanity to the characters when they have small moments like this between the big fights. It's one reason I like Thor: Ragnarok for example. The scene with Loki and Thor in the elevator is another scene like this done just right for exactly the same reason, at least imo. No over the top chaotic action, very minimal if any cgi edits, just two bros talking and bonding over thir shared pasts.

Seeing Spider-man coming to MCU in 2016 was quite a slap for me and my friends. I didn't even see the Amazing Spider-man movies and I wondered back then why they changed the actor again.
It's incredible how good the chemistry between these 3 is when there was never any plan to have them interact like this when they were initially cast as Spider-Man.
Kinda proves that all three of them were really freaking great Spider-Men lol

This is what TRUE fan service looks like. Not just throwing a reference/cameo in to say "see? Look! You like this, right? That makes this good!" But rather, something that is worked into the story, enhances it and even furthers it. MCU Spidey takes from what he learns from/shares with Tobey and Andrew and uses it to help himself become a better hero. Even in the final scene, in his new homemade costume, the design of the costume is a hybrid of his old suits and the suits of Tobey and Andrew. Best Spidey film yet, but across the spider verse is coming so, we'll see.
Probably gonna have to count parts 1 and 2 of across the spider-verse together.

Best thing this movie did was not have Andrew and Toney be cameos but actually have a part of the story. Both redemption arcs, Andrew’s Peter saving MJ and Tobey’s Peter helping Tom’s not succumb to revenge like he did and also being able to save Norman this time

Tobey's spiderman was my introduction to spiderman, so it surprised me that in actuality the character almost never has organic webbing and needed the web shooters

@@lucassantossj For me Tobey was my introduction and I learned about the webshooters from the 90’s Spider-Man animated series, thought it was odd he uses a machine.
Loved the back reference to Toby Maguire's Spiderman the fact that he nearly broke his back when he fell off the building but also the fact he's getting old haha 😆
And the "my back" joke in Spider-Man 2 was itself a reference to the fact that Tobey actually injured his back while filming the movie and it was uncertain if he'd be able to continue with the role. Luckily he was and Sam Raimi suggested they put a gag referencing that in the movie.

I love how the conversation is organicly what you'd expect from 3 guys in this insane situation.
So glad they took the time to give us the Spider-Men talking. No cheesy jokes or forced stuff. Just feels like a normal convo. Also this scene is basically how it would go if any of us meet alternative versions of ourselves.
That could work if you don't end up meeting with alternative versions of yourself that didn't become evil in his or hers universe.
If I would meet an alternative version myself I always imagined it would go like it was in this movie. We would lift each other up and ask who did what in their own universes and compare stuff. Like "complete strangers" talking to each other which happen to be from the same blood-line in a way.

this scene was the best thing ever because it didn't feel like a part of an action superhero movie, it felt like these are some 3 guys who really exist out there and they're just having a conversation. it was so real and raw compared to all the other stuff going on and i absolutely love the chemistry these guys have.
That's the beauty of spiderman as a character, just a normal human with powers dealing with real world problems

The chemistry between these three is either unreal talent or just natural. The banter feels so...smooth...natural...unforced. Just an amazing scene.
I’m glad that Tobey and Andrew were actually supporting characters in this film and were in almost the entire 3rd act of the movie. I feel like any other studio would’ve wanted, or even demanded, them to be simple cameos for a scene or two and nothing else

This is exactly what left me stunned for days after leaving the theatre. Given all the rumors, I was 85% sure that they'd be appearing, so the magic from that surprise was nearly gone before it even began... but I was only expecting them to cameo. It's very rare for me to say something surpassed expectations when it comes to superhero movies anymore, but they really pulled it off here.

Favorite scene, in the entire film, right here. The three of them, bouncing off of each other. Comparing abilities, accomplishments, victories, etc. It was such a great moment of calm before the storm.
Tobey, Andrew, and Tom had such incredible chemistry together. They’re literally like three brothers and this scene along with the lab scene are my personal favorites in the movie.
I kind of hope we'll get atleast one more movie with all 3 together.

I love the fact that they added a moment of break (from getting ready to battle and all) for these three to interact with each other just casually, just for the fans that always dreamt of seeing this happen.
I’ve so often complain about fan service, about having meetings and scenes just as callbacks to cool things so,why for the fans with no story purpose. This to me was a perfect example of how something could both be fan service AND serve the story well. People have been wanting something like this for YEARS, but the perfect meeting of timing and payoffs of decades long in-jokes and story points was done so smoothly.
To date, this, the first Avengers movie, and Endgame are three of my favorite Marvel films.

You are right. Everyone can have a favorite spidey but this does not necessiate to ignore and disrespect others. All of them have different personality. Each of them gave a different soul to the character. Now, i want stories of all of them to continue and hope to see them together again in the future. Spidey brotherhood is awesome.

I love this take, it is something I did not think about.
Maybe if Tom ever does another Spider Man movie, we can see him on his own for once. No Iron Man, Shield, or Doctor Strange. Just Spider Man.
And I think a really nice touch was having Tobey Maguire deliver it. After all, a lot of the "superior Spiderman" hating and bashing comes from Maguire fans bashing other Spiderman fans for liking Garfield or Holland more than Maguire, or even liking the other versions at all. So by having Maguire himself be like "no dude, you are amazing, stop putting yourself down" it's like, well even your idol says the others are cool too so there's really no need for the hate.
I like Tobey telling Andrew to not talk bad to himself. Dude is totally the sweetest.
The underlying story to that was Garfield took so much heat for the reboot. Fans heard about No Raimi and Maguire and made him the scapegoat.
Tobey went out of his way to reassure fans that he was an excellent choice for Spider-Man (he even said he was excited for him)
That's Peter Parker's best traits of being a person.
That right there is not only perfect fan service, it's a 10/10 writing. You get character development, you get humor, you get a little drama and you close some loops they all needed. What a movie.
This scene alone made this movie a phenomenon. It wasn't just 3 actors talking, it was 3 spiderman having a simple chat about their lives and experiences, all their life struggles have lead them to this moment

I remember seeing the picture and thinking “there’s no way that’s fake. Andrew looks a little old for it to be fake.”
I deny the fact that was just some random person leaking that. It must have been a set up by the studio, now knowing its just an unedited shot of actual raw footage used for the final piece. It looked too good to just be some leak. I swear those leaks looking back were just secret promotion to tease the possibility of their return without confirming it as to get people hyped.
I absolutely love this movie. They need to bring these three back together again. Their on screen chemistry was mind blowing ☺️.
