H2 Green Steel - decarbonising the steel industry with green hydrogen and giga-scale electrolysis

Abstract: The steel industry is one of the largest sources of CO2 in the world, emitting ~8% of global CO2 emissions and ~25% of European industrial CO2 emissions. It is also typically labelled one of the largest “hard-to-abate” industries due to the enormous financial and technological challenges to achieving decarbonisation. H2 Green Steel (H2GS) aims to be the first company in the world to manufacture green steel at large scale. This steel will reduce CO2 emissions by up to 95% compared with today’s steel produced via blast furnace due to the alternative green processing route utilizing one of the world’s largest planned electrolysers.
