Metrolink 109 is the least crowded 6 car Metrolink you will ever see. I've ridden on it dozens of times. Since it travels in the early afternoon, not many people use the VC line.
Actually the least crowded 6 car train I saw is the OC Line 643 from Laguna Niguel to Fullerton, so little people ride that train the first car is dark
I believe the M109 set is used on Riverside line because a few years ago I took a trip to Union station and saw the same trainset leave as M109 and then saw it come back to LA and became M406. For the past 5 years or so Metrolink has used 5 & 6 car train sets even though they have struggled with ridership as of late.
BrentNguyen46 Metrolink use to run it with a 4 car trainset but starting in 2015, they increased the trainset to 5 and then later in the same year they increased it to 6. If you look at my other comment it explains why. But since late 2015, M109 has consistently had 6 cars on it.
TheNazar123 Metrolink and many other rail agencies typically interchange trainsets whenever equipment is needed, although I don’t believe they specifically use a particular trainset per train number. I’m pretty certain it’s based on the timing and size of the consist, rather than the specific equipment numbers. Hence why different trainsets can be seen varying from day to day on different routes.
RailfanJojo Thank you ! Surprisingly, I still have a good amount of stations in California to go to, but I currently only have 6 Amtrak stations left in SoCal to film at. :)
Yay for more video! Keep it up! You are practically my favorite railfanning video. Surfliner’s 3 new SC-44 is heading down right now. Hopefully you will catch one of them soon.
butthurt8 Thank you very much ! I really appreciate the kind comments and continued interest ! Not sure how I personally feel about the new Surfliner SC-44s, but I’ll try to catch more of the F59PHIs while they’re still around.

TheNazar123 I know right ? I would think they’d cut the car count back to only a 4 car consist. I was personally surprised to see it at 6 car lengths.

When the train goes east to la after terminating at Moorpark, it looks just like the mid 90s before the extension to Ventura
I think you hold the record for most stations railfanned at!! You got Moorpark, one of my personal favorites! Nice video.

Moorpark is where I live, FYI.
