I just finished the latest installment in the Preston and Child Pendergast series. This weekend, I am reading book 3 in Linda Castillo's Amish murder mystery series and a historical romance classic Lord of Scoundrels. Enjoy the weekend!

Slow Horses is fantastic! I will be picking up the books, for sure. I just borrowed Sandwich from the library and will get to it asap! Thanks, ladies.

I’m reading the new Elizabeth Strout book Tell Me Evetything. It’s a bit plodding and I must admit I’m getting a little tired of the same characters. If you read it let me know your impressions.

yes Long Bright River is excellent. Mostly a family saga and police procedual. Listened to Dayswork and would recommend it in print rather than audio--lots of lists that do not translate well in audio. Currently listening to The Wedding People--very popular right now, it just happened as a SKIP the Line on my Libby app and I could not resist since I was 230 in line for it, so I had to see if the hype was worth it. Quite good but trigger warning for suicide. Just finished Black Butterflies by Morris and loved it so much also The Whore's Child and other stories by Richard Russo. If you are looking for a great short story I would recommend the title story and Monhegan Light which is the best. Happy reading. I'm gong to look into Slow Horses.

Stone Yard Devotional is excellent so will be curious to hear what you think of The Weekend.
A few absolutely cracking reads on this year’s Booker Longlist. Stone Yard Devotional, My Friends, Enlightenment, James and Wild Houses all great reads (My Friends is the best among them for me - but sadly didn’t make the shortlist) . I still have four left to read, but five hits among nine done is a pretty good hit rate!
The Mick Herron Slough House books are great. I read them a while ago - and when the tv series launched i didn’t enjoy it on my first attempt to watch…but it eventually grabbed me! 😂😉

Just this AM I finished BLESSING OF THE LOST GIRLS by J. A. Janice. I love her Southwest series. This PM I’ll begin THE HOUSE ACROSS THE LAKE by Riley Sager. My 17-yr-old granddaughter read it & I’ll be seeing her in a few weeks & thought we could talk about it. Then it’s onto BRIDESHEAD REVISITED by Evelyn Waugh. I’ve never read it.
    Keep up your great podcasts!
Are there any other podcasts out there that aren’t about YA,Fantasy & Romance? I’d love to know.

Sandwich is one of my favorite books of the year - was thinking about it earlier today.
I also liked Long Bright River.

I've had Horror Movie on hold at my public library all summer. I'm finally up to no.3 in line! Perfect timing for October, but now I'm afraid to read it!

I'm currently reading three short story collections: "Close Range" by Annie Proulx, "A Sunny Place for Shady People" by Mariana Enriquez, and "The Coiled Serpent" by Camilla Grudova. All three collections are good! I've just started "The Haunted House" by Charles Dickens among others, "The Ten Myths About Israel" by Ilan Pappe, and "That Time of Year" by Marie Ndiaye and all three are great so far. I just finished Margaret Kennedy's "The Feast" which was a reread for me :)
I really want to get into another longer work of fiction though...I'm thinking either "The Robber Bride" by Margaret Atwood or something for Victober.
I really want to read Liz Moore's "Long Bright River" and DNF'd Charlotte Wood's novel "The Natural Way of Things". However, I REALLY want to read "Stone Yard Devotional".

I read Sandwich earlier this summer and really enjoyed it, so I'll be interested in what Emily thinks of it (my only hang up with the book is that the main character is sometimes more "open" with her kids and vice versa than I am used to seeing or that I would be), but other than that it was great.
