In this video, I compete in the monthly blitz titled arena on lichess.org. The 3-hour long blitz tournament featured some London Systems, Stafford Gambits, and good ole dirty stalemate traps (watch until the very end for an epic finish!). The first commenter to timestamp every game + opening will get pinned! (in a good way)

Thanks for the games Eric! Any moments you enjoyed that I missed? Mistakes that I made? Just lemme know :)
Wow excellent work. You should change your name to Ericino Rosenino.
Wow.. this needs to be pinned!
time stamp terry
Everyone like it so it goes to the top!
Eric, pin it!
doing gods work
I love how calm and serene Eric is. Even in blitz and time scramble he never fails to explain.
He is my favourite chess streamer exactly because of that. His experience as a teacher/lecturer on the Saint Louis Chess Club really shows. Plus he has a cool deep asmr voice lol
Feels so good to come to UA-cam and find a 3 hour long vid by Eric :)
So true
Not as good as your mom 😏 Bazinga
Where does it feel good?
@@slightlystooopid420 in my soul
Yeah honestly
The dirty stalemate is at 3:00:25 for anyone wondering.
And 48:00
Thanks
the rosen trap! hope to play it some day
Not all heroes wear capes
@@sagvantetris3750 plot twist hes wearing a cape
And another one around 48:00
i know im part of the 5% that watched the 12 hour chess video because i fell asleep & woke up to it finished 😂
1:39:13 "I didn't mean to insult your compliment" - such an Eric thing to say
He celebrates stalemate more than victories lmao
Ikr hilarious 🤣
I find it’s so much more satisfying turning a losing position into a draw rather than just winning a winning position
it feels way better lol
The goal is to not be checkmated.
Because it's a funny line.
I don’t think anyone’s played more endgames than Eric. It seems every game that isn’t a crazy queen sac or trap is an endgame or stalemate
1:31:36 is battle with Chess Network
Classic eric.
*Discourages playing the Stafford against stronger players.*
*Immediately uses it against an NM*

@@user-xw9lt1em3m first game lol
@@user-xw9lt1em3m he does it always
Well, he's kinda the Stafford Gambit guy, so he knows the ins and outs of the opening, unlike most of his viewers (like me).
@@leadnitrate2194 he's more of the London guy.
I really appreciate these long videos with so much content. It's like getting 5 videos in one!
Happy Birthday, Eric! love all the amazing content you put out so much :)
1:26:20 "I just want to play decent chess." - Eric Rosen. I fully support this sentiment and timeless quote for the ages.
Best content I find on UA-cam... I never do miss any of your videos... Keep it up Eric... Love from India...
2:17:52 love the hand sanitizer usage 😂😂
Thats some of the roughest I have seen Eric play and he still doesnt lose.
Great explanations and commentary, I really appreciate it as a newish player. Thank you!
I used the Rosen trap too no joke it worked!!! Opponents expect you to take their queen and they'll have an easy endgame. That's when they premove and you go to the corner. After the premove you are in stalemate!!! Freaking brilliant!!!
This obviously won't work during over the board games where there are no premoves. Literally this trap only works because premoves exist!! He got the top players to blunder stalemate though!!!!
I’m pretty sure the most sound theory in the Botez Gambit line in game 1 is to go for the dirty flag
48:05 LOL! The GM had *32 seconds* on his clock and he rushed into a stalemate.
I'm sure he was trying to stop the premoves and drain the last little bit of time
Random fact - my vent and rosen vent hummed on major 3rd interval, so it was reallt happy stream for me
Eric playing a blitz tournament is the best thing on the internet not gonna lie
I watch these vids for the chess in the day, and in bed to fall asleep. Thanks again Eric
That last game is the dirtiest ending ever. Classsssic!!!! Hahahahaha. I can't watch it enough. It's the funniest thing to me. As always, thanks for the content. (love_hate_chess)
This is the best chess content. Don't get me wrong. Pogchamps are fun. Variants are fun. Eric Rosen playing good old fashioned chess for 3 hours -- perfection!
Watching this with Christmas music playing in another tab cuz the holidays
Great video, music was nice might do it for other ones
Happy Holidays Everyone
I love how Eric says something like "this is a bad move" then plays it, loses, and acts like it wasn't expected.
Happy Birthday, Eric!!!
Happy birthday, Eric! I hope you're having a lovely break.
It amazes me when you checkmate with 4 seconds left! WOW!
Wow, watching early feels different
Frfr
It doesnt
@@johnmarston5383 For you
Early? The day’s half gone!
@@enricopallazzo3244 What?! Early doesn't mean in the morning
what are the letters next to all the players names, for example next to Eric's there is an orange IM. But on others there are FM, GM, etc... What are they?
30:45 White knight B5 hitting both queen and bishop,
then, pawn B5, queen C7, bishop C7, biship C7,
Queen trades and white knight trades with the bishop,
and the B5 pawn is hanging, white has the bishop pairs,
and black don't.
What are bits for? I've tried to search for Lichess and bits, but came up empty. Can anyone explain?
beautiful conclusion
Yes!!! I love long videos! Lately you’ve been uploading short ones.
So comment friends I have been enjoying Stafford gambit, but would like to ask for a good opening that I can transpose into if the opponent doesn't take on e5? Am a beginner. Ty
Eric: "I've been having clean games with the queen's gambit declined. Maybe they should rename it the-"
Me: "queen's gambit decleaned"
Eric: "clean's gambit declined"
That stalemate is kind of evil :D Don't play the chessboard, play the opponent.
19:58 I reached the end of the marathon too about a week ago. I was going to comment at the end but I forgot. And I haven't watched the shorter 2nd part yet.
ETA I actually watched most of it at 0.75 speed too so total time should be over 15h. =)
Great content Eric. Your videos are always very institutive. Love from India 🙂

"The question is what to do here" Yes Eric, that's usually the question in chess.
Love the long tournament videos btw, keep em coming!
He is doing these videos, in a city on fire
4:05 what's wrong with rook d8 here? woudnt that avoid loosing the queen?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIC!! 🎂🎂🎂
No clue if you read these but could you play more of the 10 min or longer games? I'm not a huge fan in the dirty flags and they seem to happen more often in the short games
Happy Birthday Eric 🎉🥳 !!

How many viewers get queasy wondering what will happen in the final 20 seconds ?
1:21:42 those arrows are really funny because that’s true he doesn’t even need to talk he just shows *arrows* ARROW ROZEN
There's nothing more satisfying that getting a stalemate from a lost game. It's even better than winning! :D
I know right? I once had a rook that was my only moveable piece, so I checked him one square next to the king. My opponent was low on time and just took, and that felt sweeter than any checkmate.
I always do stalemate and it's really funny 😂
Eric finishes playing chess at 2 am in the morning, goes to bed, and then dreams of playing chess.
I played so many 1min tournaments one day I dreamed about it lol it’s so stressful
The first two games were the sort of form I expect from titled players
just curious during first game, after white moved knight to D5 would it not of been better to check king with Q on B4 and pick up whites bishop on b5 since it was left hanging?
scratch that just went back and relooked at it overlooked knight protecting that square
love your content Eric
For a stafford gambit emote maybe you could use
Nxc6
dxc6
or maybe not, just spitballing.
Happy Birthday Eric 🎉🎉
Has Eric seen xQc's stalemate against his last opponent? It's like he's Eric's prodigy student.
Hey Eric, how many countries have you traveled?
1:08:28 My pawns are just fixed... Proceeds to move a pawn😂
1:04:10 is Bishop E6 not as blatantly obvious as it feels?

36:20 what is stopping queen to A4?
1:04:08 isn't check with bishop winning on the spot?
23:10 impressive defense.
Happy bday bro🥳🥳
Eric Rosen...the Paul Morphy of stalemate
1:04:14 isnt bishop e6 winning the knight?
At 22:22 , I think knight f3 just forks the king and queen. Perhaps Eric missed it or I am just missing something obvious.
I just won my first blitz tournament today. It was a >1500 blitz but since I was in the 1300s so it was not an easy win
I don't know if you'll ever see this comment Eric, but watching your videos with some chips and cookies after a hard day's work has become a habit to me. Thanks for them and keep up the good work (y)
If you ever visit Zagreb, beers are on me!
What are 'bits' idk what they are
4:18 what happened to the queen? it looses like his own bishop took it
I fucking love it when i see a new video longer than an hour 🥰
Love this
When does he go live i been meaning to catch him one of these days but i always forget
Most of his streams aren't scheduled
Hey I'd love it for you to explain to me how these really high level players fall for these really simple traps. The second one i understand because you baited him by trading queens. The first one seemed very preventable though because he missed a really simple mate in 1 and he had lots of time.
I think its astonishing how 2 high level players fell for the same stalemate trap. To me it seems like a silly mistake that like maybe a 1400 could fall for, I would think it would be engraved in their minds that King on A8 (or any corner) and Queen on C7 is always a stalemate

4:08 whats wrong with Qc6
I’ll try and catch as many lives as I can. You run this account?
At 4:09, why didn't Eric just go queen e6 to defend the rook? If white goes queen a7, can't eric just move the king to d7?
Guildenstern might be dead, but the Rosentrapz are alive and kicking
Also the Rosen-Schrantz which is a secret opening I've been working on with properties of both the Nakhmanson and the Stafford.

A week ago somebody had asked Jerry ChessNetwork whether he knows Matt O'Brien from PA :) but he replied he doesnt - the viewer should have asked you Eric :)
approx. 2:56:30 "Heywood Jablome" visits the stream and gets a callout.
1:04:13 he missed a free piece with bishop to e6
Eric, wouldn't it make sense from a monetary standpoint, to breakup the long videos into numerous shorter ones?
True, and 1 ad per game is prolly more ads then in one of tgese vids
I don't agree
This video has like 8 ads for me, so he’s probably seeing reasonable return from it. Also, I think a lot of his fan base enjoys the long videos
Yeah, not to mention the notion that deliberately increasing the number of ads per upload is patently anti-consumer. Eric wouldn't do that willingly for videos like this, imo.
@@krepes8685 You missed where he said only 5% of his viewers finish the long videos. He is getting less cumulative viewership with the long format.
