Aww, Shucks. I love sharing my thoughts on films. This was one of 2023’s best in my opinion. I’m kind of a Lanthimos stan. There are certain directors that just push the envelope and create very original and unique works. His films are all among them.
It feels good to have room and time to create on here again. I’ve missed it and it was honestly hard to get the juices flowing again. Stoked for 2024. What are you looking forward to this year?

@@LonelyGuyLovesMovies ...A year full of really good, creative, new visionaries with films! I wonder if Talk 2 Me will be out this year?

@@RED_IN_PA I'm stoked for Dune 2. I wish we had gotten it in November, but I understand why they pushed it. Also looking forward to Robert Eggers Nosferatu film this Christmas. Will have to wait almost a full year on that one, but man, I'm pumped. I can't wait for Talk 2 Me. I imagine it will be a couple of years away and I'm not sure if they will do their Street Fighter film before they do a sequel to Talk to Me.

Great review, Andrew! I didn't absolutely love this one, but I definitely enjoyed my time with it. Was completely engrossed for the first hour, but felt that it petered out toward the end. Have a great 2024 dude, good to see you back!

I love that some movies work and really resonate with people while others don’t. Lanthimos is one of those directors that inspires the hell out me. I also nerd out with all the cinematography stuff too. They actually used a 4mm lens for some of the shots, which is wild. I didnt know they even made them that wide.
I had to step away this Fall because my business gets insane, so I was just casually sitting at 988 subs for like 3 months 😂. I’ve got all the watch hours, but just needed 12 subs to monetize. I just couldn’t find the time. I’m back on the train 🚂 though and excited for this year. Looking forward to catching up on some of your reviews from the Fall season. Cheers Sully.

I agree with what you were saying up until around 3:30. It didn’t go back to black and white. The first scene was color, but once she died it was black and white. And it didn’t go back to color when she was exploring the city. It when to color when she was exploring sexual liberation in the city. It’s as if her finding out that she can make decisions for herself without the help of a man finally made her alive, not the brain transplant. That was the whole point of the color change. I feel like you kind of blew passed the whole idea of what they were trying to convey.

I guess that’s the fun thing about movies, we don’t have to all agree on everything. I didn’t necessarily tie the color change to her sexual liberation because there were multiple times that it switched between black and white and color, one of the times being when it shows Bella’s transplant and awakening. I personally felt like the color switch had more to do with her progressively awakening rather than being solely about sexual liberation. However, I do think Bella discovering her sexuality was a heavily emphasized component of her awakening. But it’s all good if that was your take. Cheers.
