This is crazy! This truck was in my family for three generations! My Grandfather bought it and when he passed, it got passed to my father. My father then drove it around for years and then gave it to my brother to restore. My brother then sold it to Derek. It’s so exciting to see the truck that I shared many drives in with my dad still on the road!

@@72Z15SS I agree that it's up there but the Model A Ford that he drove 723 miles is a tough one to beat. This story on this truck is very good for sentimental reasons but when a 96 year old car made it 723 miles without going on the back of a toe hook, that to me is a story for the ages.

That is lucky, i have been around the block a few times with this. You can tell pretty quickly in a relationship if she is really into you and the things that you do for a living or a hobby. Yep, a guy just gone and watched it end to end again! Donuts with sprinkles....perfect. The way Jessica is looking at you at the end shouts how special you are to her! Beautiful to see. What a contrast setting off on the final leg of the trip, I could see grass and blacktop 😮😊 must have been a relief. 😊

I love cars and mechanics and have watched hundreds of entertaining and videos on auto repair from other channels. yours is by far the most entertaining. My wife passed away from lupus in 2021 but I can still appreciate when a man goes to the extreme to make his wife happy. Well done, Derek and Merry Christmas. Just two things an old boy noticed. 1) The truck looks a lot better with Jessica driving it and 2) It don't sit as low with her as it did with you. ;-)

I lost my wife of 35+ years to cancer in February of 2017, it sucks! 💔

I’m so glad she got that truck. Nobody sees the work Jessica puts in, she is always working just like Derek. I’ve been down there at 8pm and she is out there working, helping in the shop, mowing, always doing something and always a smile on her face. This whole episode was awesome. Merry Christmas guys

I'm only a little passed the 7min mark. I want to thank you, not only for sharing this video but also for creating the memory with your son. My dad wasn't around much when I was young and I'm now doing my best to create moments like this with my children. I can only imagine the way your son will tell this story to his children someday. He will remember the trip long after Derrick is gone. I have memories like that with my grandfather- and that's more than 50 years ago. These last forever.

Just my opinion: This was the best episode in a while. Every episode is good but seeing you put so much effort into doing something special for your wife is really nice. Also, including your son was great. I am certain you all made a ton of memories that you will carry with you.

Gordon here , I just LOVE this ride along it brings back memories and a little tears also to my eyes as I too took my son for a ride in a in ole (Brownie) 66 Chevy half ton on a road trip back in the day. But time took over the old girl and gave to the car crusher , But I save her cuzin 65 chevy panel. Now you stirred the pot in my wishing bones and got my on the rise to give the 65 chevy it also is brown but a little faded lol. But also the ole panel is also got some rust , so I will fill in the hole with metal and and some primer paint . Sigh! it sure is wonderful for the ride along , thanks for the ride looking forward to driving ole panel this summer. Keep the shiny side up and stay safe. I just know my late father will ride shotgun with me cause he to had a 65 chevy pickup. 🥲 there is a tear in my beer and Im crying for my ole panel .👍

Bentley's such a trooper, and you're excellent at keeping the bad points from freaking anyone out. I could see that little bit of fear peeking into your head as things weren't going to plan out there in the cold with your boy. That just shows you're a damn good dad. Also that you've had stuff like this happen a time or two! Johnny on the spot with all the keep-warm goodies for you and the kid. Good on ya, big guy.

I'm 66, I've never forgotten a road trip with dad when I was 8. He said, "hey, son, want a hot dog?" I said, "yes Sir." So we took a quick 120 mile drive and spent the night with my grandparents. I thought we weregoing to the grocery store until we got to Alabama. Lil dude wont forget
