Old terminal 1. Ah my favourite hangout as a kid whenever I'd visit my family in Toronto. Love seeing the AC and Worldways DC-8s and just wow seeing T3 as nothing more than a steel frame less than 2 years before its opening.
Bring back Terminal One please! Many an evening I spent on top of the parking garage at the old T1 taking photos and listening to other aircraft enthusiasts' scanners. Fun times that I miss so much.
Such nostaglia looking at this. Make you want to cry. This is my childhood. Even though I still love aviation, there was so much VARIETY back in these days when it came to the apperance of of airliners. That is lacking now. These are the days when aircraft were LOUD. DC-9's, B737's, B727's. I lived right under the flightpath of RWY24R which is now RWY23.
Hi Brian, love this amazing footage, especially while Terminal 3 was being built. Any chance I can use this in a video I'm making? I will be sure to credit you in the video :).
So many great things to look back on in this video! I love that you scanned all around to catch the older cargo buildings and the new terminals under construction. Lots of familiar stuff in this. Thanks for posting!
CP Air was in its merging phase during this time, titles were "Canadian Airlines" instead of "CP Air". after a while the fleet was repainted with that navy blue colour.

I miss that parking garage overlooking the Ramp:( me and my dad would always go
I'd have to ask him for his logs, but there is a very REAL possibility that this video caught my grandfather landing an Air Canada Boeing 747.
Absolutely fantastic! Thank You for posting!
2 KLM 747s at the same time? wow!
wl03bu it’s still a thing in Toronto 2 Kim flights a day
Now In 2020 KLM 747-400 is gone 😞

Are you sure this isn't earlier then 1989? I saw a CP air 737 still painted in the orange livery.
Frank Garrett It is May1989
CP Air was in its merging phase during this time, titles were "Canadian Airlines" instead of "CP Air". after a while the fleet was repainted with that navy blue colour.
Howcome all 1980s planespotting videos on UA-cam takes place in either 1980 or 1989?
Aero air i came here watching your videos xD btw im subbed
Mass produced video cameras became cheaper around this time. And even if you couldn’t afford one you could rent one from the video store.
Now if someone could show me a video of a Donaldson airlines 707 at Toronto in the early 70's I would be happy
Wow
Is that air canada plane at 1:13 a 767-200?
Correct - it is 767-200.
Too bad you can’t make out the registration or fin number. That could be the Gimli Glider.
How did you find this video?
the emirates around back then?
Yes. But they were just in the Middle East and Europe. They had a fleet of Boeing 727’s and Airbus A300’s around this time.
What happened to the music
I was getting weird comments so I just took it out, it was some kind of symphonic music I got off the UA-cam audio library.
now! 30 year old!
very long! long! time! ago!
Air Canada is now embarrassing to what it was at this time!
