  • I compare the DeWalt TSTAK and the Stanley FatMax Pro-Stack to see which one is better. One of them is a lot more desirable.

    Thank you all for the great comments. I myself bought ANOTHER DeWalt TSTAK toolbox today and am glad to say that they now come with the better metal clips 😃. At the time of making this video, they didn't.

    They're identical now. Newer models all have the improved clips. I've bought both depending which is the better price at the time.
    Screwfix and Toolstation have them hugely reduced from time to time. So it pays to shop around

    You tap one side of the handle in a certain position with a hammer and it goes in one end.,then take it out the opposite way.,then put new handle in. Just jiggle it untill you find the spot ready for tapping. That's how they fit them at the factory. Simple when you've done it...bloody hard when you haven't. Good luck,took me 2 hours . But I got it.

    That is an older DeWALT box, the newer ones have metal in the clips just like the Stanley. Craftsman Versa Stack is the very best with metal in the clips and a rubber gasket seal in the lid. The Craftsman will also connect to the Stanley and the DeWALT boxes.

      Since this video, in the UK, the new ones thankfully do have the metal clips. Some places still stock the old ones unfortunately. Sadly the craftsman ones are not sold in the UK.

    If I hadn't watched this video I'd have bought the DeWalt so thanks for that. Saved me a few quid and learnt about the dodgy clips!

    Hello,
    I bought the plastic clip alone, only thing is that you dont now if they are yellow or black ...
    I only broke one and that was my fault.
    There is one position only to fit the new clips.
    Thats why ther is a lip one each side of the part that go into the box.
    Just to let you now
    Kind regards

      Thank you Dave. I have just seen that the price has gone up. I think that is due to them being hard to get hold of. I was searching the other day for the Stanley deep drawer version and nearly everywhere was out of stock. I emailed Stanley about this as I need a few of them for my camper/tradesman hybrid build. No reply from them as of yet though.

    Prostak is Tstak 1.0 with Tstak 2.0 connecting clasps. Tstak 2.0 has an IP rating plus bigger closing clasps. Same company so my guess is they wanted to get some more sales from the older molds by putting the sister brands logo on it.

    • @christopherinteriors6521
      @christopherinteriors6521  2 роки тому

      Wouldn't it need a sill to be IP rated? The next tstak box that I bought the other day has the new clips but no sill. It is literally identical. Maybe I got an old stock one.

    It looks like the pin housing broke, and so a stronger pin might not have helped. There's a shot of the broken Dewalt latch hinge pins on this video: n5HxwDHURe8

    That's interesting. They are identical so somehow are Stanley related to DeWalt or is just the DeWalt patent expired and Stanley's coping it. very interesting. I have a whole t-stack system. Never had a problem with clipse.

      I had ordered the packout tool box and when it arrived I was shocked by how big and heavy it was. Around 10lbs empty and really too big imo. I switched to DeWalt tstak after looking around and I've been loving it. Glad to see that I can also use Stanley boxes, and also I think craftsman fits too

      @@NonieTools They are massive. I saw some in screwfix today actually. Expensive and good but just so big. If I had to store them in racking on one side of the van I would lose so much room.

      @@christopherinteriors6521 I now have bought into tradestack. It works with versa stack/tstak via an adapter that comes with the rolling large box on the bottom. It's a bit bigger, though still not as big or heavy as packout. I have 1 tradestack rolling box with handle (and the handle is seriously strong, as are the wheels), 3 tradestack double drawer boxes which are AWESOME and on sale at Lowe's now for only $70 each, TSTAK single drawer boxes, then the tstak box with the long handle and yellow top. I have more boxes but after getting drawers I can't go back to having to take apart the whole stack to get to a lower one.

    Both crap. Dewalt toughsystem 2.0 is the daddy

    • @christopherinteriors6521
      @christopherinteriors6521  2 роки тому +1

      It is all down to price. If toolboxes were free then I would take the Milwaukee packout over any of the dewalt boxes. I do quite like the toughsystem 2.0 but not everyone is going to sell all their old boxes to move to the newer ones, including myself. The thing I do like with the tough system boxes is the van racking system.

    • @ricardosmythe2548
      @ricardosmythe2548 2 роки тому

      @@christopherinteriors6521 If price was a major factor between them I would agree but in the UK I've just bought a 3 teir toughsystem 2.0, all 3 the taller boxes for £179 and the equivalent tstak is £159. I've had tstak boxes before, there like toys compared to the toughsystem 2.0 boxes and id put money on it that 1 toughsystem 2.0 box would still be in use in the time it took you to destroy and replace a tstak box twice over. I suppose it depends on local pricing too. I did look at the Milwaukee but that was a lot more money. Yeah I like the racking system
