      Another great review! Could do with one explaining integrating iTunes library on a Mac into B&O multi room if you get a chance.

    I own one of these beasts and love it! but like others I have had trouble... sometimes the volume just freezes and the Bluetooth connection can be a bit lousy... Not to mention when you play the thing at more than 70% everything gets terribly distorted. for everyday listening it's perfect but it's a shame to know you can't push the device if you needed to.

    Welcome to the Beoplay A6, one of the most distorting speakers with bass heavy tracks.

    John maybe a stupid question, i am struggling to get my head round these streaming speakers. In the case of the A6 does the source stream from the connected phone with Deezer/Tunein or does the A6 connect directly to the internet stream? Just wondering if i was listening to the radio and i use my phone for something else e.g making an actual phone call :-) Another point i see the A6 has stereo separation although I am not too sure about the lack of stereo separation on most of them?

      @BangOlufsenManchester  7 років тому +1

      Hi Peter, all of the multi-room speakers have built in Deezer and Tunein so once they are logged in to the same account as your phone they can continue to play even if your phone gets a call or leaves the wifi network. They can also be controlled by any device on the network running the Bang& Olufsen app, it's not limited to one device.
      The only way the music will be interrupted is if you are using Bluetooth or Airplay.
      Stereo separation on A6 and A9 is acceptable for compact units but no replacement for a pair of speakers.
      Hope this helps, John.

    How would you describe beoplay A6 to beosound 2? If you only think about the sound quality of both speakers.
    Love your videos! Very useful and informative

      Thanks. Honestly I like them both, A6 sounds brighter and a bit more spacious being stereo and having the rear facing speaker. BeoSound 2 just sounds awesome and looks the business! If pushed I think I would pick BeoSound 2, it's stunning but I'd be very happy with either. I recommend you pop to a store and listen to both to see what you think sounds best. John

      Bang & Olufsen of Manchester Thank you for the quick response! Going to a store nearby to listen to both speakers. Must say that I think the A6 will win, giving that the price is almost 1/3 of the BeoSound 2, at least here in Denmark.
      Greetings from Copenhagen!

    I know I am late to the game.. but would you have any idea where to get a wall mount for the A6 these days?

      Same problem! Looks so difficult to find one… I emailed one of the London stores and they recommended me STBbrackets but that costs £260 and it’s not even B&O.

    How does the A6 compare with a pair of S3'S? The S3 has nice bass response and good stereo separation when wirelessly paired. I guess I'm wondering how the sound stage is on the single speaker. Also concerned as well by the bass distortion I heard in clavinetjunkie's video. He seems to know his stuff.

    • @BangOlufsenManchester
      @BangOlufsenManchester  7 років тому +2

      Hi bravespleen, I love S3 as a pair, I think they sound fantastic. It's a tough one to call, the S3's will give a better stereo separation but A6 is pretty impressive for a single unit with really good DSP and it's rear facing driver. I have seen that video, he plays it at full volume until the protection circuit cuts it off, after that the bass is distorted, he must have caused damage. I personally think it's a bad idea to run any hifi equipment at full volume. The volume has to cater for different level inputs, some sources are quieter than others so just because a volume control goes up to a certain level, it's not always wise to use it! I find A6 uncomfortably loud at about 3 quarters with Deezer, but that's just me I suppose. John

    I bought this 4 years ago. Now I CANNOT EVEN FIND EVIDENCE OF IT'S EXISTENCE on Google or in B&O store online. I actually looked this old video up to prove that my speaker truly was B&O.

    • @BangOlufsenManchester
      @BangOlufsenManchester  7 років тому +4

      Speedy955 Thanks for watching my stuff but have you actually heard it? I watched the review and you can't base sound quality through microphones and whatever speakers you are using. I would guess he has damaged it, the plonker has been playing it on full volume set to free space. It cut off at the end because the thermal protection kicked in to protect it. I really don't get reviewers that have to test everything at full volume. I have never had any need to turn any hifi B&O or otherwise anywhere near full. I can honestly say customers have turned A6 up in the shop to see 'how loud does it go' (a nonesense question in my opinion) and not once have I had distortion. It was far too loud for normal listening and still nowhere near full. John.

      Calling reviewers 'plonkers' because they have raised issues with a product is unprofessional to say the least. I can understand why he would want to briefly test it at full volume if B&O saw fit to have the volume control go up to that level. It is quite likely that someone at a party would turn it right up. Agreed, this is not 'normal listening', but it could easily happen and should not damage a well-designed unit.

    • @BangOlufsenManchester
      @BangOlufsenManchester  7 років тому +10

      S. Giles I was only being jovial with 'plonker' it was by no means personal, I actually think his videos are nicely made. I still don't get the obsession with full volume, an amplifier has to deal with various output levels from varying sources. Just because a volume control goes to a level it doesn't mean it's good practice to take it there. Hifi usually becomes unpleasant to listen to well before full volume. My separates hifi at home would cut off due to protection or cause damage well before 3 quarters volume with a well recorded CD (not that I would like to try of course). I really think A6 is a fantastic product, maybe I got a bit defensive.
      In my opinion good hifi is about quality of sound, stereo imaging, vocal presence, dynamic range etc, not just how loud it goes or how much bass it's got, this seems to be the focus of a lot of reviews out there. I also understand I may be in the minority. At the end of the day good sound is subjective to the listener.
      I agree with your point that the protection circuit in the reviewer's A6 should have cut in before the drivers were damaged, and it usually does. He should be contacting B&O for a warranty repair as it's clearly faulty. I may contact him and try to help. (I'll also apologise for calling him a plonker if that makes you feel better :-) )
      Look, I'm proud of my channel and it's still developing, I really appreciate views, likes and comments and it's already way bigger than I ever thought it would be. Last thing I want is to get into keyboard battles in the comments or start annoying people. I know I'm going to get negative comments from time to time, it's UA-cam after all.
      Thanks for your comment, if you're ever in Manchester pop in and see me, I'll make you a coffee and we can have a chat and listen to some products. John.
