Fantastic footage thank you SK for.your excellent commentary as usual. Kudos to cam ops Paula for her enthralling footage, that must have been so thrilling to watch live. It' was for us watching it. I love seeing follow ups of our San Jose avian family. I bet Monty is welcoming any sort of break from his parental duties even if hiding from Lucia is proving a bit challenging.

I've been watching falcon cams since the Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group installed a nest box and cam on the former PG&E building in SF back in the '90s. Once the chicks fledged we saw very little of them unless the boots on the ground captured a bit of film. To be able to see the juvies' activities after fledging is absolutely amazing. Especially when it comes to hunting their own prey. Fantastic cam work, Paula, and as always huge thanks to SKH for finding and posting these special moments. Way to go, Alma--thanks for showing us unfeathered monsters how you're preparing for your independence.
These fledglings continue to show us how it's done--and you continue to do an awesome job of capturing their progress. What a treat to see Alma in action--and a relief to know that she can feed herself. Hoping that Zoe and Lucia are as adept as Alma. (We know that Lucia is never one to turn down a snack or to miss an opportunity to heckle M&D for a meal or to snatch prey from a sister.) Thank you, SKH, for another wonderful video!
I have a feeling that Lucia could use a few hunting pointers from her sister Alma--lol. Perhaps Lucia simply intimidates her prey into submission with her screeches!
Wow--way to go Paula on getting that footage! Pretty sure that's the first time I've (almost) seen a fledgling hunting for herself on camera. And of course well done Alma.
And oh, Monty, so good to see you again! 🤩The almost nervous-looking scrape he does while being yelled at by Lucia cracked me up--"couldn't hurt" indeed. 🤣
