Just bought the trace 2 for my bf after a recommendation from an employee at Dick's. Hopefully Brooks made improvements for this second gen shoe!

What distance are these meant for?? I’m coming here from your site/app and only found the Brooks Trace 2. No distance was mentioned. Are they meant for 3 or 4 miles? 12? Full marathon? What does “limited energy return” mean?

Somewhat. Upgraded upper, but ya, a lighter cushioned version at a lower pricepoint.

The Brooks Revel is an overlooked budget shoe. I’m curious how that one compares to the Trace. The Revel is also $100, it has an 8 mm drop, it’s very light, very fun and versatile. It has few reviews but a couple of other big multiple testers (BITR, Road Trail Run) gave both the Revel 3 and Revel 4 pretty universal high praise! Martha

Good question. The Trace is part of the "Cushioned" line from Brooks and the Launch is part of the "Speed" line. The Launch is a bit stiffer and more responsive.
