This song is so evocative. It feels lonely and hopeful at the same time. I’ve always felt that his songs fit perfectly in that space of driving alone at night with your windows down. This is definitely one of those songs ❤️
I think of it a bit differently. I believe that one cannot feel the emotion of a song, or anything. Rather, the emotions you experience while listening to music originate from within the person, not the music. One’s interaction with music facilitates a subconscious process involving the intersection of one’s past experiences, one’s current cognitive and emotional state, people in one’s life, human nature (whatever that may be), and other abstract factors that make you the person you are. People don’t feel things because other people affected them and their feelings were influenced as a result of external forces. No. People feel because of themselves. And because of their past. And the feelings really have little to do with the other person you’re with, or the music you’re listening to, but rather your own life and experiences and personality. Take more credit for the emotions you feel. They’re yours. Your emotions cannot be determined or experienced by another thing, either. It goes both ways. No one can feel your pain. Your happiness. But people can live alongside your happiness and experience their own happiness. One person didn’t “make the other person happy”. Both people feel happy for their own reasons.

It will come for sure. This song, and others he posted lately are songs that should be in the 10's of millions of views. I kinda blame UA-cam algorythm for it. I listen to Gregory on a regular basis, I am subbed to his channel and just found this song, only because I browsed his channel.
There is just something about his voice and his words that fills me with emotion and brings instant tears to my eyes. I am so thrilled about the new album even though it probably means more tears. He is beautiful. Something shines within him, some magic spirit.
Gregory has been the king of indie music and solo singer/songwriter stuff for at least 10+ years now. Anyone who knows, knows. Truly, if there were to be an impartial contest for the “King of Indie” and “King of Folk”, it would be Mr. Gregory Alan Isakov. Undisputed. Unequivocal. Unanimous.
His voice, the music, it makes me feel so safe and human. It makes everything wrong in life, okay. It makes the bad days good. It brings peace in the hard times. It's so beyond amazing. I'm so proud of how far Gregory has made it, but at the same time I just want him to be the small artist only a few people know.
