A dramatic glimpse of The Nature Conservancy's historical foundations as well as its conservation aspirations.
"It was a simple, yet grand idea...to create a conservation organization that had the size and strength to take its rightful place in a country that does things on a gigantic scale. In 1951, The Nature Conservancy was born."

We as humans do amazing feats and help ourselves with amazing ideas, we also endure amazing calamity with our own miscalculations and screw ourselves with the same amazing ideas that brought us to such fortunate lifestyles.
I feel idle in this world, helping nor harming it. I feel terrible for not contributing, and awesome for not harming.
I guess living on a fence is better than contributing to society's malaise ? ?

it should be noted that Maine has a bottle bill, one of the most effective ways to keep bottles and cans off the landscape, no matter what its detractors say. Without the bottle bill the trash etc that JustYourAveGirl decries would be demonstrably worse. By the way, the forces of darkness have succeeded in rolling back the Delaware bottle bill.. Shame on them.

Mt. David/Davis in Lewiston, ME has been riddled with trash, broken glass, bottles and cans. I've even come across a tv someone decided would be fun to roll down the rocks. This is shameful littering. I pick up what I can when I can but I am only 1 person. I cannot clean up everything from yrs of thousands of people using the mtn like a dump on my own :/ I am also concerned about the clean air, water, and land acts being in violation here & people/animals being cut on broken glass. How to help?

@Tormentality: You are rationalizing. Get off the fence. Make a difference. I need to do the same.

The last I've read, one of your partner organizations, World Wildlife fund, has an office in Russia. Putin is a big fan. While the world closes ranks and sanctions Russia for it's oppression in Ukraine, WWF still operates in Russia.
Wildlife conservation is critical but human needs get priority. Any thoughts?
